  1. Have not been able to obtain an explanation from Regent but 10 night sailing 10/27 to 11/6 Istanbul to Barcelona which had 10 stops including Istanbul and Barcelona the embark and disembark ports has now been changed to 2 additional ports in between with overnights and presented to us like this was great news and an upgrade. They have dropped 2 Turkey stops, Athens, Sicily, Naples,Corsica and Marseille and added in Dubrovnik and an overnight in Rome which as everyone knows is useless as the port is so far away from the city center. When I called res, they indicate they don't know what it was changed. They probably don't and I asked about cancelling and they said it would be a $100 per person cancel fee and I said even if I book something else and I am doing this because you totally changed the entire itinerary 10 months before the sailing and the answer was yes and if we do find another sailing we like, what is to prevent them from doing this again. I have been sailing since 1982 (I do date myself) but I have never seen anything like this before. Anyone have any intel. Looking at other options not comfortable with this at all. Anyone sailed on Ritz Carlton, Explora Journeys or Seadream Yachts?
  2. Just returned in May from the SS Sphinx with a group of 16, half of which did the Jordan extension. First class all the way and the food was fantastic. The trip exceeded all of my expectations and Jordan was well done also. If on the Sphinx you stay at the Four seasons and at the Ritz if on the Tosca. I don't think you can go wrong with either line, but I was very impressed with the job that Uniworld did. Both of these lines are my favorite. but wouldn't hesitate to recommend Uniworld.
  3. Riverside cruises which is going to start sailing soon and they have an options to book that do not include the usual inclusions on most river cruise companies. They are using the former Crystal ship.
  4. Find a good, seasoned river cruise travel agent and let them deal with the website and corporate issues and also recommend some other fantastic river cruise lines and bypass the angst that Scenic continues to cause their clients and industry personnel.
  5. Travel today especially international travel is fraught with issues. Not only the gauntlet with the airlines and then a company that takes your money, doesn't provide the services and won't give you a refund. If you read any reports on cruise critic concerning this company, it is apparent that they have some major issues and problems to overcome. Let the experience of some of the poor folks on this site be a warning to others to take the time, interview and seek out a well-seasoned cruise travel agent to assist you in as many ways as they can to avoid issues such as this. The seasoned industry agencies know the companies that are problematic and which companies to avoid. It costs you nothing extra (some agent do charge a fee) but many do not and you pay the same exact price as you do going directly through the cruiseline. Even if there are problems, the agent will spend the hours and hours on the phone, sending emails and trying their best to advocate on your behalf to help you with any issues. they will typically advise to purchase 3rd party insurance which offers better protections than purchasing through the vendor. One last thing, you will probably be supporting a small business owner in your local community. Even though they may work for a large cruise agency, they are typically an independent contractor working to suport their family. Buy local is true in this instance also. Most agents are working as hard as they can to make sure that you have the trip of a lifetime. Ok, I'm off my soapbox and good luck everyone. I feel so bad for those that have been taken advantage of in this situation. I wish you the best of luck in getting these matters resolved and you have either a wonderful trip or obtain a refund. If you are fortunate enough to get your money back, go find another company that not only cares about their customers but is not having obviously delivery and the financial issues that this company is experiencing. There are certainly some good ones out there. You don't deserve this treatment.
