To answer your specific question do not believe ant OBC can be used toward a future cruise no matter how it appears on your account hence the name on board credit.

should you have any refundable credit after your cruise you can get that in cash and use it once you get home to pay your credit card bill for the future thus in a way you are doing we get you want in a round d as bout manner.

Remember unless your OBC is paid in cash to Seabourn it is non-refundable. Much of your TAs Amex platinum etc OBC is at least partially paid by Seabourn thus no refundable.

We have never used Regent Air before. We have booked a Nov 8, 2024 to Southeast Asia. Regent Air is $6,000 p/p. This price sounds very reasonable to me for roundtrip business class. Should we take this offer?  Your thoughts please. We would be flying from Naples, Florida.

    Bryan

Nobody outside Regent kniws the amount included in your cruise to cover air transfer etc. the only way you have the $6000 pp figure is that is the amount they will give you if you do your own air snd rtransfers

your decision is should you take the $6k pp and book yourself based on current sir fares. You also need to understand that booking your own flights brings up other risks you don’t have letting regrnt book air including but not limited to your personal air will likely be non refundable from the da yiu book, should regent make itinerary changes you will be responsible to pay for the changes, some trip insurance plans do not cover air unless it is part of an air/sea package, etc

in the end the decision is yours and yours alone as nobody else knows your exact circumstances.

We have a cruise booked Barcelona to Rome in April. Our deviation date is coming up soon. I am concerned that we won't get non stop flights ( both outbound and inbound) since this was one of the reasons we booked this cruise. As we get up in age we shy away from making connections. We fly out of Atlanta and have always had non stop flights to Europe. On looking at the prices for non stop flights....yikes!!

Nobody can guarantee regent will provide included non stop flights round trip. Only way to guarantee that and not sure this will guarantee non stop flights even with a deviation as flights change quite often these days.

your option at this point is to deviate to non stop flights hoping they don’t change and pay the up charge if any.

I am a bit skeptical about the answer. I think it might be true if the air credit does not change from the time you booked until the time you decide but if the price of the cruise and the air credit both increase i wonder if you might be charged the new air credit not the one you originally turned down. I could be totally wrong but in this age of big increases in prices i hesitate to think that Regent will use the original air credit if there is a significant increase. For example if the air credit when you booked is $3000 pp and then when you decide you want the air after all and the air credit is now $4000, i think they will charge you the $4000.  Just my opinion.

Think a better way to say this is that any credits or debits will be calculated at the time of change.  IMHO it is likely any pricing changes are at the current prices whether up or down.  Really doumb any cruise line will not use the price at the moment of the change.

but before I dive into each one and find out about non refundable seats

What does refundable or non-refundable seats have to do with anything.  It is Regent booking for you and there is nothing for you to worry about if the seats are non-refundable because. because you don't pay for them separately as according to Regent they are "free".

You need not research by fares as your refund, if any comes from the cruise fare and not directly from the airline.  And if on a Regent Contracted flight that's al Regent's problem and if you accept a non contract flight, you won't know that and it is Regent's problem if you cancel.

I should say, there might be an upcharge for the flights you want to change to, but no fees, since you already paid those the first time you deviated.

Incorrect, no need to involve Regent at all.  When an airline changes flight times you simply phone the airline and request the new flights.  Does not matter if the change is 4 minutes or 5 hours.  There is no surcharge or charge at all.

Recently my flight on United changed by 10 minutes.  This trip was booked thru a different cruise line.  I simply phoned Unite and asked to change to a better scheduled flight.  At first the United agent said only a 10 minute chang but, I simply insisted and magically I was on the flight I wanted without much hasstle.

Regent will need to contact United so why not leave them out of this equation and deal with United yourself.  Would be concerned that Regent air might screw up the change so easiest to do it yourself directly with the airline.

Also you avoid any Regent charge for talking to them to simply do what is simple for you to do yourself.

  7. There was an agreement several years ago in Florida with all Florida based cruise lines that any money specifically listed for port fees or taxes had to be refunded if the money was not given to the government agencies.

Regent and Oceania both signed that agreement.  The kicker is that the money had to be broken out on the invoice to make it mandatory refunded and both Regent and Oceania do not break out these port fees and taxes thus they do not have to and have chosen not to refund to the passengers when ports are missed.

By the way Seabourn another luxury line breaks out the port fees and taxes and thus refunds for missed ports.  On a recent Seabourn cruise actually got a $0.37 credit for fees not paid.

Sometimes you can call United and they can make the Lufthansa seat selection for you.

Thanks for the idea. Waited an hour and a half and they say a seat is requested said I had to contact travel agency to confirm purchase. Made no sense and suddenly gone. Will try flight ease tomorrow. Never had this problem before??

I reach the 120 day ahead of cruise point in about a month. Is there a way to request custom flights from Regent without playing 75 bucks for a phone call by me or my TA, such as me or my TA requesting flights by email? If I contact Regent myself, do I need to get my TA's permission for them to deal with me either by email or phone?

The ability to request a deviation is 210 days not 120 so if you are requesting you are a bit late and the payment is mandatory. With the new system don’t believe you need permission to contact the air desk.

i guess  have to be ticketed before i can 'connect' the flight to my FF account. My final payment was completed a week ago and the trip is ~120 days away. No sure how long it takes for ticketing.

Depends on the airline. United adds the flights to my ff account immediately upon booking. I have a United booking ewith flights operated by Lufthansa with my Lufthansa booking number and a ff account tells me until flight is paid for cannot see my flights on Lufthansa or book seats while I already have my United seats.

there is no absolute depends on the airline s as nd ALWAYS best to work with the airline direct if at all possible.

For my upcoming cruise I booked everything through the Regent consultant. I have not gone to the various airline's websites to advise that I am the contact. There has been one small change so far in which Regent Air Dept did advise me of the change. Do you think I should change the airline reservation contact info to my contact info or leave it as is since Regent was/is in charge of the flight arrangement? My cruise is ~120 days away. Thanks all!

You ALWAYS want your contact info available to the airline. Believe the only way to do that is with a frequent flyer number as that gets you an login on the airlines site   Believe you can add your contact info to the airline site possibly without a ff nimber but good to have that number.

and to Ioriva any flight time change allows you to make free changes not 2 hours or more. Not sure about cancellation. I know as have made changes as free as short as a 10 minute flight change.  The agent will Lilly to push back but simply state the flight had a change and you want a free change brcause if their change.

    Only on each airlines site.

I will add IMHO always better to work directly with the airline as working with the cruise line simply delays things by adding another party to th usseye.

I always check dhtrectky with the airline and avoid the cruise line for hrlp

Had my flight home from Reykjavik two weenn JB s ago cancelled snd never even considered phoning the cruise lie sir desk that booked my flights. Since airlines are third parties uo you cruise line relationship all Ts snd cs require you to work with the airline directly and that is always my plan. The cruise line has to work thru the airline and best to avoid the middle man. Got home a bit Kate but the air line protected me in a different airline still in business class providing a day room and transportation plus meals and the cruise line could not have done any better snd orobsbky wouldn’t have delayed my flight home.

Where on the source app did you do this?

Go to post 2 and follow the instructions both for source and on the website. By the way although I had preferences in the source I did get an email a few weeks before the cruise asking fir my preferences which I told the rep were there but had to repeat.

the process is severely flawed but did have the correct items when I boarded.

also the source for use onboard is flawed as well but eventually was able to sort of use it but with significant itinerary changes it was mostly useless and in some cases wrong.  Not impressed at all with seabourn IT but cruise was good.

Probably one for UK guests and hoping I can get away without paying a deviation fee 😂

Has anyone flown directly from London with Regent to Tokyo and back from Bangkok (also direct) as a standard flight. We currently have these Regent flights from Manchester with Etihad but have to change in the UAE but if we can get direct flights through Regent may consider travelling down to London as less chance luggage will go missing 😜
    thank you in advance

Ate you looking for direct or non0staop??  There is a difference.  Also what one or more people got as flights does not mean you will be able to get the same  so banking on a small sample is relatively worthless.  Suggest you go to ITAmatrix and see ust how many non-stops which is what I believe you are asking for flights there are.  Guessing very few.

And even with available non-stops, they are usually the most expensive so doubtful Regent will provide those.

Regent does have a contract with Turkish Airlines.  At least I was offered their flights when trying to determine an itinerary for a cruise next year.

Regent may not have seats on all flights, however, or the airline may have sold all the seats in the restricted class for the contract.  When we lost our flight due to a hurricane last year, we had to wait three days until there were flights with the correct fare category for rebooking by Regent.

Just because they offered does not indicate a contract. We will never kno who has it doesn’t have a contract with regent.

I have a question about ITA Matrix and flight deviation. When researching flights before calling Regent Air, should I look at complete trips or one way/each way? Does it even matter? We will be flying in to Barcelona and leaving from Rome. Is it better to look at the same airline each way or is that immaterial? I have more questions, but will ask after seeing if anyone has any knowledge about this. Thanks!

Itamatrix gives you multiple ways to search. You are flying what is called open jaw. You need to search multiple flights not one way and not round trip as neither work for open jaw. You will see pricing for multiple airlines as well as both directions and thus you will be able to see using different airlines as well as a single airline so you will see all kinds of combinations. Thus only gives you an idea of regrnt might offer as regent has contracts that you can’t see anywhere

sometimes a single airline will have the lowest price while sometimes multiple airlines have the lowest. No rhyme or reason. Hope this helps but you only know for sure once regrnt responds.

Wouldn't the amount of credit also be based on where your flight would be originate from, as well as the destination? For example, if I lived in LA, and my cruise boarded in Barcelona, I should expect my credit for booking my own flight to be less than if I lived in Miami and my cruise boarded in Barcelona. This should be based on a flight from Miami to Barcelona costs much less then a flight from LA to Barcelona.

My problem with all of this is that I really want a cruise that includes airfare. I don't want to worry about my flight being delayed and my cruise line doesn't know that. I don't want to worry about transfers, and I want pre and post nights in a hotel if that makes it more convenient. I want one whole package for my vacation. That's one of the reasons we've booked more cruises with Regent than any other cruise line. If they don't want customers like us anymore, then we'll look elsewhere. Not booking included flights for us until later than we would book then for ourselves, even though we've paid them the non-refundable deviation fee, makes us very uncomfortable. I really doubt we'll book another Regent cruise, and if they don't book an acceptable airfare before our final payment is due on the cruise that we booked long ago for next year, we'll ask for our money back while we still can.

While your question about air fare credits is quite logical it is incorrect. Cruise fares including air are identical no matter where in the US your home airport is so credits are the same for each cruise no matter your airport is.

Doing it as you suggested  would require hundreds or thousands of different cruise fares and credits

my thoughts are that regent calculates cruise fares and credits based on averages of costs from mid America thus savings and cost vary depending on where you live and air fares from your location. Some people win and some lose depending on your home airport and cruise embarkation location. YMMV

Rallydave, thank you that was very helpful. So, the next part of the part puzzle is to figure out how much $$ Regent gives us if we were to book our own flights.

You or your ta need to ask regent as it differs depending on the cruise location

believe you are traveling on a cruise from ant to the US and that used to be $300 pp

to add you actually can get the number. Go tyo your cruise on the regent website and make a oretent booking with sir and without sir. The difference is the air credit no matter the location.

  19. 9 hours ago, snorkle lover said:

Having three Regent cruises under our belt, you would think we would understand how deviation works. If we decide to book and pay for our own flights, will Regent still supply us with transfers from the airport to the hotel ( one night) and from the hotel to the cruise ship (then from the cruise ship to the airport)? This question is in regard to domestic flights. Regent wants to put us on a basic economy flight after paying the deviation fee and I would guess that we might not even be able to choose our seats. If we want to upgrade from that could that be done with either $ or mileage. Does Regent give us a deduct if we book our own flights?

Transfer airport to hotel no transfer hotel to ship yes cruise ship to airport no  upgrade depends on airline policy. All domestic flights economy. Credit for not taking air yes. Assume concierge or above and credit for that as well. In us likely your hotel credit will cover hotel and transfers so good to decline hotel
