Ironing is a total no no on holiday.

Give over 😅   If I   couldn't get hold of an Iron on a cruise ship, I'd freak out .   My ritual every evening before six is to press out the folds of a clean I need to wear ,  and maybe, to press out the creases of the 'seat of the trousers' I may have worn the evening before . 😅

Bit extreme ripping out the whole cabin just to replace a shower door!

You are correct, but as we understand it this is how staterooms/cabins are 'these days', they are all part of a fixed module . I believe they were in the building of the QM2  ?

I wonder if they may be introducing more Queens or Princess Grill suites in various parts of deck 8 based on that first photo? Could explain why they've removed the walls?

Just had confirmation from a 'source in marketing'  that they are not recategorising any staterooms or introducing  new ones . I'm wondering if those photos have anything to do with upgrading the bathrooms ?  ie Glass shower doors etc 🤔  That might might make sense, as staterooms/suites whatever you want to call them, are part of a fixed module .

Edited to add;   I'm pleased to see they are ripping up those awful corridor carpets they always looked Faded . They were supposed to give the 'illusion' of walking out of your cabin onto a sandy beach with the tide rolling in . That was ok if one occupied an outside cabin - those in an inside stepped into the sea. lol

  5. Personally I wouldn't dream of wearing a Polo shirt in the 'Evening on a Cunard ship', save that for Saga or MSC, however,  do enjoy wearing it throughout the day or if you are on a port tour.

Bluemarble has clarified Cunard's suggestion , in other words a Dress shirt is a 'Long Sleeved' shirt with a smart firm collar.   -    Open neck, Ideally worn under a jacket 👌 😉

  6. Time for Cunard to introduce new Evening Gala Themes

Roaring 20's is and opportunity for some gentlemen to climb into the loft to bring the dressing up box down.

Trilby hats and the Gangster look is childish and ridiculous. How about "Red Carpet and Hollywood Glam.

Everyone has their own view - but a lot of people continue to enjoy the current offerings - and bookings seem to be pretty buoyant for most voyages we have been on. The QV Greek Islands voyage was sold out as far as I know.

Sold out  It certainly was !  I was also on this cruise and have to say this was one of the best cruises I've experience in 54 cruises taken with Cunard . I expect this was down to an interesting itinerary and the warm weather conditions, not only that,  but to the wonderful  demographic of our fellow guests.  As I understand it from speaking with voyage sales there were almost 1,450 Diamond guests plus the platinum and other repeat guests , so much so the Senior Officers party had to be rescheduled to an evening event 5.15pm & 17.15pm .

Every evening onboard was a sense of occasion,  with smart and formal attire being adhered to. The Commodore Bar and the Chart Room was a wonderful sight to behold,  not a polo shirt in sight 😉 certainly no long waiting to be served, twelve waiters + five bar staff dispensing the drinks  every evening in the commodore bar between 7pm & 8.30pm .

No complaints from me with the food or the entertainment, I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the cruise and didn't want to get off.

I've said so many times on here before - " There is Life outside the Grills "

Can anyone tell me if you can prebook the boxes in the theatre ahead of your cruise and when this becomes available online?

I understand it’s only for formal nights but just wondering if you can prebook on My Cunard?

    Thank you

No, you can't pre book on line .  Booking a theatre box (which also includes the product of Champagne, chocolates etc) are usually for the big production shows . Whilst these big production shows are usually on a formal evening they are also subject to change . You will need to mange this on the day once onboard the ship. In the mean time Theatre Boxes are freely available on a first come first served on non formal evenings.

We will be travelling on QM2 next year for our first TA cruise from NYC home to Southampton.

I understand that the hour change is done at 12noon.
We normally use our I Phone to set our morning wake up alarm but with the hour changes this could be problematic.
Does the cabin have the facility to set a morning wake up alarm/call?
    Thank you

Good gracious call me old fashioned,   but I've never taken a cruise without my trusted  travel Alarm Clock  Leave the I Phone in the safe or under the bed  and forget about it .

  10. Don't worry about that old chestnut, you will have access to 'All parts of the ship' ! with the exception of two small ( Grill)  restaurants, one small lounge adjacent to the Grill restaurants and one Sun Deck. All the other venues are open and to be enjoyed by Britannia Category guests which will be the category you are planning to book.

  11. I aways go for a 'Wine Package'. Great for the restaurant, none of this hassle trying to flag a Sommelier down each time you want a 'Glass of Wine as in the Drinks packages'.

You can pre arrange for a bottle from the wine collection to be delivered to any Alternative dining venue , you can even have a bottle (or take it away) delivered to your stateroom for drinks on the balcony/room service etc.  You can also enjoy wine from the collection in any Bar Venue ( Commodore Bar for example) the Bar staff will take care of it for your next return

And finally if you don't manage to consume all the bottles , any unopened can be taken home with you .

  12. Another Thumbs 👍  up for M&S. Please please don't rely on onboard Hire.

As  self appointed fashion police & fashionista ( only banter folks don't be posting in ! )

I can't help smiling at some of the sights I've witnessed,  ill fitting trousers & jackets that  some gentlemen will accept from a pushy  onboard shop assistant .

I am of the persuasion that effecting  a transfer would be a one off and a little thank you at that time, would not be out of order.

It certainly wouldn't persuade me if I was a guest in the Grills , I would probably have already given a little cash in hand as I say goodbye to the first cabin team, and will be rewarding the new cabin/suite team at the end of the voyage .

@Bell Boy I’m going to hold out hope, one my trademarks, that there IS a By-pass line and you don’t have to stand in that horrible long line in the heat. Enjoy Santorini!

As understood it, Cunard shoreside tours department indicated that the 'cable car Ticket' is Part of a 'Cunard shore side Tour', arrangements will be made for everyone to be able to return to the ship well in time before departure. I'll be expecting confirmation of this when I'm onboard - if I have any doubt I'll be expecting a full refund of the tour.

The coach may take you to Fira, but at some point so you have to take the cable car to return to the dock for your tender.

Yes you are correct. The tour is several hours including lunch etc, however, It also includes a ticket TO BY PASS lines to return down 😉 This was the attraction for me.

I guess I'm on the same Cunard cruise ( departing 1st Oct 2022)

Excursions for Santorini  ( Oct 10th) are now available in My Cunard. I have just booked a trip that will take me up to Fira by coach rather than  battling the crowds for the cable Car.

I understand there will be five ships in port that day.

Correction to my post above  should read 1st October 2023 !!

  18. Top Tip ! When transferring to another cabin ( B2B)

Take a stroll down to your new cabin 'a couple of days before the transfer' . Make you self known to your new steward/ss, interact with them, give them heads up that you'll be occupying the cabin on disembarkation day.  They in turn will ensure your new cabin will be the First To Be Serviced immediately after the occupants have vacated .

Always works for me , no hanging around. 😉
