  1. Cruised on the January 8th sailing of the Eclipse (2 weeks) and on the January 28 (1 week) sailing of the Reflection. The food on the Reflection was better than on the Eclipse - both the buffet and MDR. The presentation of the food was also better on the Reflection. However, the brisket of beef served at dinner in the MDR during our 2 week Eclipse cruise was delicious- a new addition to the menu.

  2. We are booked on the October 9 cruise on the Reflection. I didn't know that it was a Reunion Cruise when I booked it about 2 weeks ago. I read the link above that generally described a Reunion Cruise - some extra events, etc. if you have been on a Reunion Cruise, what were the extra events?

  3. I haven't used a lanyard before on many cruises, but I am considering it now. If you put the ship's card in a purse that has a magnet in it - your ship's card won't work. I had his happen on 2 cruises and had to go to guest relations to get a new card. Also, if you keep your card next to your cell phone, the card won't work.

  4. Our experience in January 2017 was that the longer cruises have more Elite passengers. We sailed on the Eclipse for 2 weeks and received drink vouchers. We sailed for 1 week on the Reflection and did not receive vouchers. The longer cruises have older passengers who have the time to take the long cruises ( and they have been cruising for a longer period of time - therefore are more likely to be Elite). In October we are sailing on the Reflection for 11 nights in Europe. Wonder if we will receive vouchers. We prefer the vouchers so that we have our choice of bars and we don't have to dress up.

  5. We were on the Reflection from January 28 - February 4 and on the Eclipse in January. There were about 10 free movies on demand in your cabin. Besides Star Trek, I recall Cafe Society, Elvis Nixon, and Central Intelligence (can't remember the others). These are all pretty good movies and fairly current. We saw Jack Reacher and Deepwater Horizon in Celebrity Central at 10:15 pm.

  6. We stopped in Bonaire during our 2 week cruise on the Eclipse in January. We were not looking for diving or beaches. We took a walk into the flea market and shopping area. On the way, we passed some tour operators trying to sell their tours. The people were friendly and not pushy. The flea market had some very pretty craft jewelry and pretty paintings and note cards. I bought 2 necklaces made out of local nut shells and pretty flamingo note cards. We found the area where we walked clean and safe. There was also a cool restaurant out on a pier. A beautiful 300+ foot yacht, owned by Paul Allen, (Microsoft) was docked near our ship.

  7. We were on 2 Celebrity cruises in January/February 2017. Toward the end of the first cruise (on the Eclipse) we found a towel animal (a lobster) on our bed. It did make me smile. We sailed for 21 nights total and had one towel animal. It was fun, but I wouldn't add to our cabin attendant's workload by asking for it.

  8. We are Elite and ate some of our breakfasts in the Tuscan Grill. Last year there was a man who carried a bag of flags into the Tuscan Grill every morning. He had a round stand that had holes in it so that flags could be inserted into the stand. The man would speak to crew and other passengers and ask them where they were from. He would then take a flag from his bag and insert it into the stand. By the time he finished breakfast, his stand had 5 - 10 flags in the stand. Thought this was interesting.

  9. We sailed on the Eclipse on January 8 for two weeks and on the Reflection on January 28 for 1 week. The food on the Reflection was better prepared (very tender lobster) and better presented (especially in the buffet). Our waiter and assistant waiter were better on the Reflection (ate in the MDR every night on both cruises). Our cabin attendant on both cruises were excellent. We still feel that cruising in the Caribbean is a wonderful winter vacation for us since we like escaping from the cold weather in New Jersey for as long as possible. Being on a ship, enjoying warm weather, and being taken care of for 3 weeks is wonderful. Our main complaint are the new production shows on both ships - talented performers burdened with boring material. People of all ages prefer shows with songs that they know.

We sail in inside cabins, so we feel the value for our money is very good. It would cost us more money to stay in hotels in Florida, and pay for restaurants and car rental.

  10. We have taken the 14 night Caribbean cruise on the Eclipse twice. We will do the same cruise next month. It's a great warm weather getaway if you live in a cold climate (like us). We enjoy having lunch in the Aqua Spa Cafe, which has a selection of healthy salads. Every day they will prepare fish for you, if you ask. Check the menu on a stand near the Aqua Spa Cafe. Deviled eggs are also on the menu.

  11. We were on the Eclipse in January 2016 and will sail on her again this January. Most of the entertainment was fine, but the two production shows were disappointing. My DH and I used to to look forward to these shows and were excited to see the new shows last January. One of them was Topper and the other was Chandelier. Celebrity spent a lot of money on the costumes, sets, etc. for these shows. The songs were unfamiliar and the storylines were uninspired. We would have preferred the old shows which highlight Broadway show music and pop songs. Don't think I can talk my DH into sitting through these production shows again.

  12. Our son and daughter-in-law were on the Anthem of the Seas in February 2016. The ship hit very rough seas between Bayonne, NJ and Florida. At 3:30 pm, the passengers were sent back to their cabins; they could not leave their cabins until the following morning. The captain made an announcement telling everyone they could consume whatever was in the minibar for free, since no meals were served for about 18 hours.

My husband and I sail mostly on Celebrity. We like having a refrigerator in our cabin, but have the minibar stuff emptied shortly after we arrive. We use the refrigerator for keeping bottles of water and soda cool.

  13. Enjoy reading about men discussing laundry on ships. My DH has never done a load of laundry - we have been married 46 years. When I have sailed on Princess ships, I found it interesting that there were mostly guys in the laundry room (and me). I enjoy having the laundry room on board, but not having one doesn't deter me from sailing on Celebrity. We sailed on Viking last summer and we paid about $100 for laundry on a 14 night cruise. We just figured it was another expense - like tips.

  14. It was our first Celebrity cruise as Elite and we booked an inside cabin GTY on the 14 night Caribbean sailing - on an S class ship (don't recall which one). We have had inside cabins before and never had a problem with the cabin. In this case, our cabin was by itself and by a small corridor where the crew went in and out with their carts. We unloaded our bags and I then went to Guest Relations and asked if there was an alternative cabin. We have sailed on over 35 cruises and know that the sign on the Guest Relations desk that says "Full Sailing" isn't usually true. I spoke very calmly to the Guest Relations Agent and she was very helpful. She told me that there was a balcony cabin that was unoccupied when the ship sailed from Fort Laudedale because the booked guests failed to show on debarkation day. She told me that if the guests did not show up at the 1st port of call (on day 3 of the 14 night cruise), she would give the balcony cabin to my DH and me. The agent was true to her word. On day 3, she called us, sent a cabin steward to our door with a luggage cart, and we were moved to the midship balcony cabin. It was a great location.

  15. We have been on 35+ cruises and occasionally bring bottles of diet ginger ale on board; Celebrity doesn't have this. I never bring food since you can get food 24/7. As others suggested you can bring food from the buffet to your room or call room service. Our daughter-in-law always brings along granola bars and other packaged snacks so she can snack in the room or bring them along when she is off the ship. Our son thought this was excessive. Well, they were on the Anthem of the Seas last February when the ship experienced very rough seas (bad storm) and all the people were sent back to their cabins at 3:30 pm. They were told to stay there all night - until breakfast. The captain told everyone that they could eat out of their minibars for free because no food was being served. Our son was happy that his wife brought along packaged snacks - they ate them all that night.

  16. We will be sailing on the Eclipse in January 2017. We sailed on this ship this past January (2016).

    (1) Has the Bistro on Five been converted to the ala carte sushi restaurant? If not, when will this happen? We enjoyed the free sushi in the buffet area every night st 5:30 - with cocktails on the back deck behind the buffet.

    (2) The Eclipse debuted in 2010. When will the ship be refurbished?

  17. We have been Elite for our last 5 cruises and we have used the laundry coupons. Our sailings have been 10 - 14 days. When the coupon said ONE bag, we only submitted ONE bag. In order to do this, we rolled each piece of dirty laundry very tightly to fit into the ONE bag. We didn't count the number of items. Please confirm that Celebrity counts the items and that you can submit 2 or 3 bags for ONE coupon (as long as the number of items is correct).

Also, does a pair of socks count for 1 or 2 items?

I also question why Celebrity gives each Elite one laundry coupon per cruise - whether it is a 7 or 14 night cruise. If I took 2 cruises, back to back, instead of one 14 night cruise, I would receive 2 laundry coupons instead of one.

  18. We have taken about 8 Princess and 2 Cunard (Queen Mary 2) cruises. Both lines have laundry rooms on each floor, including ironing boards and irons. We took a 14 night river cruise on Viking last summer. It was warm and we went through a lot of clothing. We spent about $100 for laundry. In the grand scheme of things, it wasn't a big deal.
