  1. On another note, we had the opportunity to have cocktails in a Master Suite (901) a couple of nights ago. In a word, WOW!

Did the master suite have the lovely Barbara and family in it? We were on the cruise ,next door to them in November. We were also invited to cocktails and loved the suite..

  2. luxury

    ˈlʌkʃ(ə)ri/

    noun

    1.

a state of great comfort or elegance, especially when involving great expense.

"he lived a life of luxury"

    synonyms: opulence, luxuriousness, sumptuousness, richness, costliness, grandeur, grandness, splendour, magnificence, lavishness, lap of luxury, bed of roses, milk and honey;

We were sold a cruise with Regent,at a travel show, with Luxury being the optimum word.

Having said many times that we loved the ship, the staff and most of the passengers, the rest, for us,for what we paid, was not luxurious, magnificent, sumptuous, lavish, opulent, grand, elegant or comfortable.

But it was a great expense.

  3. Many thanks, baggy, for your welcome response.

Navigator, in my experience, was good enough. I'm not so certain Regent was good enough.

    .

As you know OctoberKat,we were taking our first Regent cruise about the same time as you.I think you summed it up,by saying Navigator was good enough,We loved the ship, the staff and most of the people. But it was not the luxury we expected, when comparing to other cruise lines, certain areas were too small to accommodate the passengers at times.

  4. One way air fares from the US to the UK are usually more than a roundtrip. Not sure if this is true UK to US. Cunard booked my last one way airfare and it was less than 20% of what I would have paid if booked on my own.

Looking at end of the year,UK to New York,it's well I over £1000 one way!

Tips on using Cunard to book etc,are very helpful. Thanks..

  5. Feeling a bit more heartened by your responses.... Than you

Good to hear.I booked a short 3 night sail in November at full price. We have $550 OBC though. That will pay for drinks, spa, tips etc....But...I know I have the cabin I want...and probably no end of sail bill..That to me is probably the best result I can get before we leave..

    ;)

  6. You must do Rovos Rail steam train. The most luxurious train in the world,is how that sell it. The Pride of Africa..We did Cape Town to Pretoria over a couple of nights, stopping on the way..Then we went on to Richards Bransons safari lodge..Ulasaba.Excellent lodge, everything included.Including a wine cellar and as much Veuve Clicquot as you want.Lots of surprises on the game drives.Open vehicles and excellent trackers.

We chose not to stay in Cape Town but just outside in Camps Bay.

Cape Town is an amazing City.

    Envy......
