  1. None of the OS or GS on Fantasy have a view of the pool they have a view of the ocean:rolleyes:

Actually, the Fantasy does have a suite that overlooks the pool. Two of them...the owner's suites. But those are the only suites that I am aware of that overlooks the pool. Wouldnt it be nice to get into THAT room...as a free upgrade of course. :p

  2. We were watching Man vs. Food the other night and Adam Richman was in Charleston. He showed a place called Bowen's Island, where they harvest their own oysters, bring them back to the restaurant, and steam them. They bring them to your table in a shovel! All you can eat for $21.

Another place he visited was the Hominy Grill. The shrimp & grits looked to die for.

Looking forward to someone posting pictures of the Fantasy in the Port of Charleston today! Thanks for all the updates!

    Alan

We get our oysters from Bowen's Island! We have a neighbor who parks cars for events out there.

I am headed out around 1:30pm today to get those pics in port.

  3. To the best of my knowledge there is no webcam.

Sure was disappointed this morning not to see her docked already when I came to work. Think she was about 45 minutes late coming in. But she is there now and I intend to take a look at her on lunch break with camera in hand!

She was at the mouth of the harbor by Sullivan's at 8:15am. Pretty cool. Where are you going to be taking pics from? I am going on my lunch break too. I am going to be on Wingo Way anyway so thinking about from the pier under the bridge.

    Or Patriots Point

  4. Thanks!

Am I correct that there is no Charleston webcam that would show the port?

I am still looking. I know that there is a webcam that points at the port on top of the Ness Motley building but I cant find a link to it.

    Still looking...

  5. I work in downtown Charleston and frequently go to Waterfront Park at lunch which is right by the cruise terminal. Since tomorrow is the inagural sailing I plan to go down just to check things out. Will pay close attention to the boarding procedures and the incline of the gangway. Everthing that I have read on this thread appears to be acurate though. All vehicles have to get into a long single file line to unload under a couple of tents and then shuttle to the terminal. And as best as i can remember the gangway is a pretty steep angle. Will post more details tomorrow.

Thanks! I used to work on East Bay Street which made it convenient to peek at the cruise ships. A little harder now that I am in Mt. Pleasant. Boo! I was hoping to see her in port today. Show up early or something. Oh well. Tomorrow it is! Where is she now??

  6. Great news!

Fantasy is going to start sailing to Bermuda! Yee haw! I've been whining about Carnival not calling there for ages!

REALLY??? Thats awesome! Where did you see this? I have a friend who will be ecstatic!

Edit: Just found it on Carnival's site. Thanks NCTribeFan!!!

  7. I've read all of the posts here, in hopes of finding something about the suites. I'm specifically interested in hearing from people who have sailed since the renovations. We're booked in September for a category 11 stateroom, which is a mini suite. I gather these suites are similar to a cabin we got upgraded into when we sailed on Carnival Victory in 2008 (cabin 6461). That cabin had an ENORMOUS balcony. I am fully aware of the fact our cat 11 on Fantasy has a tiny balcony, but what I'm eager to learn is whether the cabin itself compares equally to 6461 on Victory. I'd be thrilled if it is better. If anyone has any photos or comments about this category of suite, I'd appreciate it.

Hey there Aus-sea. We are sailing Fantasy in June so if you would like I will sneak into the area of your cabin and snap some photos for you if we get on early enough. Then I will bring the pics to work with me and show them to ya there. :D

Welcome to Cruise Critic by the way. :p

  8. I think I'm on the 2nd sailing out of Charleston, so I'll be on my way to the port when the 1st group returns, so I won't get to read any reviews. I have done some reading on the East Coast Departures board. Sounds like Charleston is not the easiest of places for embarkation.

Are you sailing on the June 5th sailing? If so, have you joined our roll call? :)

  9. The door connects to PH1 which is the same as PH2 but it curves along to the left instead (as you look at the diagram). We stayed in PH1 in 2008 Awesome cabin!

So, it connects to the other room through the closet?? Thats so cool. It needs a library in there with a swivel panel on a fireplace. :D
