  1. Well that's it I've booked....Q6 as a guarentee....I've decided to tick the upgrade box, my reason behind this is I think certain Q6's will not be as desirable as others but hay oh what will be will be...interestingly I did a dummy run to see which of the other QG cabins still showed as bookable only 1 Q5 and only 2 Q4's available to choose...managed to get an obscene amount of OBC due to the $100pp per day promotion so all in all I'm happy....now,how can I keep myself from looking at the prices between now and November....:-)

  2. I have to wait until my other half is out the house....wink wink....

I just want it to be as perfect as possible and no element of surprise,I've set my heart on a Q6,Cunard say on their web site Q6 is Guarantee only and I would be guaranteed a Q6, my interpretation would mean no other grade,so that leaves me to believe that certain Q6's are indeed still available, (hence, why can't I choose a specific one)if I'm upgraded out of a Q6 and into another grade then that's not a guarantee...

Anyway I will call then Monday,if it happens that there's none left then far enough I'll have to decide whether to pay that guarantee price and take what's left or pay extra for a Q5-4 and choose my exact stateroom number and location,

And here's me thinking booking the holiday would be the easy part..:-)

  3. I think your right,I'm going to call them Monday and ask.

Thinking about it I suppose it depends on Cunards interpretation of the word "grade".

I know I'm being technical but does Cunard when they say "within this grade"..do they lump all of the QG staterooms as one grade (I could be moved to any QG stateroom)..or "within this grade"... they'll allocate any of the 9 Q6's at their discretion.

If it's the latter I can't understand the reasoning for not being able to choose my specific stateroom number when it's the "Cunard fare"that I'm paying!

I've got a headache just thinking about it lol..

  4. I'm looking to book a Q6 stateroom on QV for later on in the year, when I get to the specific stateroom location and number page I get the following drop down box.

There are only guarantee staterooms available.

Unfortunately we are unable to offer the selection of a specific stateroom for this grade. However, you can continue to book on a guarantee basis. This means you will be allocated the best available stateroom from those that are available within this grade and you will receive all the same benefits that the Cunard Fare offers.

If you do not wish to book on a guarantee please either search for another stateroom number or browse all stateroom styles.

    Now,this is the bit I don't understand.

A)..when you pay so much money (the Cunard fare) for a grill stateroom why is it on a guarantee bases.

B)..If it's a guarantee stateroom because there's no Q6 available if I'm moved up to a Q5 then the above part of the statement "This means you will be allocated the best available stateroom from those that are available WITHIN THIS GRADE is a bit misleading.

What I'm trying to understand is,for me being upgraded to a Q5 would be a bit of a downgrade as I believe the corner Q5 suites although they have bigger balconies the actual inside floor space is smaller.

  5. My last cruise last November on QM2 the cabin assignment didn't happen until approx 10 days before sailing,it turned out well enough in the end apart from one cabin was port and the other starboard we were aft about 2 cabins away from the door leading out to the kiddies pool a mirror image for location, why they couldn't assign cabins next door to each other is a complete mystery anyway it took seconds to dash from one side to the other via the back door certainly quicker then crossing over by the lifts...enjoy.

  7. I'm trying to book on line direct with Cunard,I get as far as entering my Cunard world club number but my numbers and letters has to many digits for it to accept,my number and letters are 10 digits long but it will only accept 8... Then it keeps highlighting the space for the number before I can proceed I've tried omitting the CU and RR before the numbers to make it fit but then it just shows Input error...HELP

  8. Hello.

I'm just about ready to book my cabins on the Cunard web site, I'm booking two cabins next door to each other,I've noticed cabins 4178/4180 on the deck plan has a large white space between them and the balconies look to be double the size,is there any chance you could ask someone if it's possible to open the divider between them thus creating one big balcony, many thanks and enjoy your cruise..

  9. Thanks pepperrn I've just googled QV and found a similar pic to QE.

Interestingly on the QE pic it looks like there's a divide stoping each of the cabins from using the extra space but with the QV pick the divide is clearly in the middle of the white space...just need to find out if that divide opens thus creating a balcony 4 cabins long..I don't want much do I...:-)

  10. If and when Cunard drop their fares for a particular cruise (in order to fill empty cabins)do they drop the "early saver fare"and leave the full price "Cunard fare"as it is?

Second Question,QV (BC) cabin 4179/4180 on the deck plan it shows these cabins as having double the size balconies does anyone know if the divide between can be opened?

    Many thanks.

  11. Make sure you have room service at least once a day....after your cruise you'll have yourself a full diner set all embost with the cunard logo......did I say that..only joking folks I'm not that cheap...now,who do I know that will alter these curtains....:eek::eek:

  12. I must admit I was surprised, after getting endless emails from every cruise booking agent going telling me this and that, half price for this that and the other...the end of the day the prices have turned out to be identical...In fact I told one TA what exactly is the incentive for booking with you when the quote is the same as Cunards web price....needless to say they we're stuck for words..

  13. Yes....price dropped again but to be honest I know I've got a bargain...never ever do organised tours but with the money saved we've treated ourselves.

If anyone notices a face pressed up to the window of the QG restaurant tear in eye screaming "it could have been me"....just swish the curtains shut..:p

  14. Ok....debit card in hand ready to book my QG Cabin,I got thinking,is this really what I want to do spend the best part of 5k for two of us.

The answer was easy...the sudden drop in price of a BD lower in hull (guarantee) balcony cabin for single occupancy was now £699 so I booked two...we each have our own cabin for £699 each saving £££'s...ok so I'll not experience QG this time but I just couldn't justify it...with the ship still half empty with only 24 days to go I'm certain these cabins will be next door to each other, the icing on the cake is for interconnecting then we can just pretend we're QG...ha..
