  1. We were on the Magic a month ago and the happy hour was offered twice. First day and I believe the third day. I got several pitchers for $10 each and my husband got a case a 1/2 of beer for 1/2 price. Lasted him the week. Next cruise we are on the Horizon and I don't see a Red Frog Pub. Hoping some bar has the happy hour deals.

What is in the "Fish Bowl" and how much is it normally. I assume 1/2 off on embarkation day, correct.

It is a big, round wine glass sorta thing. Normally they cost $20 but are only $10 during happy hour. Well worth the $10 bucks. I got a pitcher instead of the fish bowl because they don't allow the fish bowls to leave the bar without a deposit. Actually I drank 2 and my husband bought  a case and 1/2 of beer for the week.

  4. I just wanted to thank everybody for their help and information. I am one of the AARP cast outs who you were trying to hide from. LOL I knocked and you guys let me in. I signed up a few short hours ago and now have 50,000 points. Once again, thanks for helping a fellow Carnival cruiser save some money.

  5. Lay everything out and then put 1/2 of it away. You won't wear it. Thirty cruises here so I know of what I speak. Also, if you take the hang up clothes on the hanger, open your suitcase when you get to your room and simply hang them up. Saves a lot of time. Since we drive to the port, I take everything but the kitchen sink including our 3 inch thick memory foam mattress topper. No back pain for us.

  6. I have one and my husband has one. We have two kids and we each got one kid an additional card in their name. We don't use the cards but the kids do. I do transfer their points in for cruise bar cash but it is really not very helpful. 5000 points is $50 in bar cash. And the interest rate is about 16% so everything must be paid off monthly.

  7. We chose ATD for years until our last cruise. We were on another cruise line and you had to prepay gratuities for ATD so we picked early dining. We absolutely loved it and have it picked out for our next 2 cruises. It was wonderful just walking in to your table and having a seat with a waiter who knows what you want to drink. We sail with another couple and no kids so the choice is easy.

  8. I think you would have a better chance of getting them through if you are not traveling during spring break of a holiday. You just can't be sure so do what you are the most comfortable with so it doesn't interfere with your cruise fun.

  9. Oooooh, what's in the Carnival Cosmo?!<3

    Carnival Cosmo

    makes one martini

    Here’s what you will need:

    • 3 ounces of vodka
    • 1 ounce limoncello
    • 1 ounce cranberry juice
    • Wedge of lime, juiced
    • Lime wheel to garnish

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add the vodka, limoncello, cranberry juice, and juice from a lime wedge. Shake vigorously.

Strain into a martini glass and garnish with a lime wheel.

  10. Can I add my gift cards to my sign and sail at check-in? I can't remember...I know the last 2 cruises the kiosks didn't accept them for some reason and I ended up in line at guest services..

Yes, you can add gift cards at sign in at the port. However, I bought cruise cash with my gift cards so I did not have a longer check in. I have a few more gift cards that I will add at a kiosk one day during the cruise.

  11. Carnival gift cards from AARP are available this morning (7/26). Sign in and then select Rewards, Rewards Catalog, Gift Cards, and lastly Travel. It took me awhile to figure out how to get to them. Doing a search does not get you there. I only have 1200 points, so I can only buy one $100 card for $90 - it takes 1000 points to buy one card. I have no idea how I earned those points or how to earn more.

Go down to the bottom of the earn points page and sign up for some AARP newsletters and get points added immediately. If you don't enjoy the newsletters, simply unsubscribe. It is my understanding that if you sign up again, you get the points again.
