  1. Yep had few Rum Punches on Rum Runner fab boat with great games / music

like to try the other one but some of our party are Non Swimmers

one does not like anything covers her face / mask

other than that i hope thats okay with Captain that will cover 4 of us

hmm I do know that one of the things Grenada Seafaris are renowned for is the care and coaching of nervous and non-swimmers I just dont know how many they are happy to take at any one time. Contact them and see as am sure they will work with you to make it a trip to remember.

As an aside ....I've been following their facebook non-stop today as they have launched the new sculpture into the park and it looks just amazing so am booking myself another trip to see it . Let us all know what you decide in the end :D

  2. Have done this few times booked through ship though

would Islandstar comment more about Grenada Seafaris powerboat

what differance between them and cost etc where too book we are party of 6

    Thank you

    Good question

Rhum Runner is a slowish, large catamaran with 2 decks, loads of music and free flowing drinks - essentially a booze cruise. with loads of fun folk

Not sure how long the tour is but they take you to BBC beach (lovely beach) for a swim stop and then you head back again.

Overall coastal sightseeing while having a great party :D

Seafaris is a fast powerboat adventure with 450hp pushing you over the sea. As far as I am aware there isn't another boat with similar design in the southern caribbean? Cool design of boat means you have jockey seats - bit like riding a motorbike. There is a bench seat for x2 folk too. Maximum on board is x10 so you have small, high quality tour.

You have a 2.5hr tour and a guided snorkel at the underwater sculpture park which is in the Marine Protected Area. The Captain of the boat is the Chairman of the group that maintain and also mange finding new artists for new pieces in the park so I guess you cant get better insight into the park and why it is there. Each stop along the coast has loads of info on the island and they cover history, geography, geology, marine protection, and anything else you may be interested in. My own personal view is it is a fantastic way to learn about and see our lovely island and also have a great guided snorkel with the sculptures by those that put them in there.

Either one you choose is great fun so I know you wont be disappointed:cool:

  3. I see the National Stadium, which holds cricket matches, is less than a mile from the port. I know nothing about cricket, but thought this might be something fun to do while visiting this November.

When is cricket season? Guess tickets can be bought at the stadium...

Cricket is usually summer season - but as we have great weather we do have odd tournaments throughout the year. Not sure about November as nothing seems to be listed but check this link for future events a bit nearer the time. Have a great day  http://www.windiescricket.com/fixtures

  4. Thanks IslandStar. I have tried that e-mail' date=' but I will continue to try. As far as I can see we are the only ship in port that day. I will give the Facebook a try. :)[/quote']

If all else fails contact Suzanne at Grenada Seafaris as their powerboat Adventure is great fun too.:p

  5. Ok' date=' thanks. Carnival does not offer it as an excursion. :([/quote']

It could be that they are already committed to another cruise ship on that particular day:confused: Cruise ships dont allow them to mix private parties with their own cruise excursions so it is usually book on board or you can't have them. It is a tricky situation for small island operators. Try this email runner@spiceisle.com or try the through their facebook page. Good luck

  6. Does anyone know of or has anyone experienced a resort or beach club in the Grand Anse area that offers a day pass? We are looking for a great place where we will have access to food, a bar, clean facilities, and a nice portion of the beach.

    Thank you!

We have the following hotels on Grand Anse Beach (in order distance from town - all approx 15 mins drive away):

    • Raddison Grand Beach (closest)
    • Coyaba Resort
    • Spice Isle Resort
    • Mount Cinnamon

I think they all offer day passes. The whole beach is nice although I prefer the areas in front of the first two. I am afraid I dont know their day pass rates so you will have to contact them all and ask what they offer and how much as things do change.

Whichever one you choose I hope you have a lovely day on our island

  7. After having read the threads for this port, I think we are about ready to book. One housekeeping question...can you purchase taxis, drinks, etc. using US dollars or do we need to convert money prior to leaving the pier?

We totally accept US$ but expect any change in local ec dollars. Rate is fixed at US$1=ec$2.67 (although generally most folk work to 2.8)

Have a great day on our island :cool:

  8. We will be in Grenada on April 2016. We have booked a ship tour called "Panoramic Coastal & Country Scenic Dr." Any thoughts or feedback on this tour will be greatly appreciated

Hmm - I guess it depends what you want from your tour? This route will give you fabulous views from up by the forts but not much driving through rainforest etc. If you really want to go through a university campus (?) then I guess this one is for you. Looking at the prices I would also guess that the drivers and the tour operator will get maybe US$15/person from the money you pay the ship.

Honestly I would look up Grenada decide what you want to see and then negotitate with the Taxi Association when you arrive on island (as you arrive in the mall area they are there with signs) as to what you want to see - you may want to see the same but at least the money goes to the Grenadians.

I hope you have a wonderful day here in Grenada

  9. My wife and I will be cruising to Grenada in December and want to take a 4-6 hour tour of the island. The problem is that there are so many highly rated tour companies in Grenada. I'm considering a tour by Mandoo, Sunsation, AJ Meddy, JnJ, or Pete's Mystique. Are there any on this list that I should definitely book (or avoid)? All opinions are appreciated. Thanks!

Have been on an island tour with Mandoo, Sunsation and AJ Meddy and all were great. Not had experience of Pete's Mystique? so can't comment I am afraid. Who ever you choose I hope you have a wonderful day on our beautiful island

  10. This will be our first trip to Granada and we are not quite sure what to do! We are both rather young, 22 and 29, so we don't have limits. We enjoy anything dealing with water. On our last cruise we did things such as cliff jumping, parasailing, beach break, and more. We like to try new things and keep it interesting! Really can't seem to find anything yet so we would like suggestions!

Try Grenada Seafaris Powerboat Adventure. Really great fun, loads of +ve reviews, lots of Grenada information, snorkeling at the sculpture park and then time in the afternoon to do town, the beach or a short island tour.

we dont have cliff jumping, parasailing or jetskis :o but we do have a powerboat adventure

  11. Grand Anse Beach is gorgeous -white sand and numerous beach bars

You could do the Rhum Runner and go to BBC beach - you snorkel off the beach at BBC

You could do the Grenada Seafaris Powerboat Adventure and then go to Grand Anse afterwards - you snorkel at the Marine Protected Areas with this tour so likely to see significantly more wildlife and diversity

obviously what you see depends on the visibility fo the day - but either one is super fun :-)

We have white sand beaches and black sand beaches on our lovely island. not quite as many as Antigua but not far off :p

  12. Anyone ever been? Are most private tour operators and attractions closed that day??

In general yes most things will be closed. It is unusual for ships to be in on Christmas Day and I can't remember the last time they were. All that said I've had a quick check and the only place I can find that is offering anything is Grenada Seafaris who are offering a morning tour only. www. grenadaseafaris .com As they only have x12 seats maximum I would suggest contacting them soonest to see what their availability is like :-)

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas day on our beautiful island

  13. Is there still a tour/excursion to a sulfur and soda pool buy truck?

We did this recently with friends so that we could give an honest opinion. The company have now combined the tour into a road tour and a stop at the sulfur pond followed by a river tubing. Not sure if this is available from the ship. No food except for biscuits but we took lots of snacks with us so we were ok. Loved the whole day as usually I am driving the island and this allowed me to see so much more. The guide is fantastic and full of information as you travel. There is a guide who gives you info at the pool too. I would suggest you contact the owner Randal at the following email adventure @ spiceisle . com to see what they are offering to ships. Have a great day.

  14. This is our first time to Grenada. Should we book a land tour or just go to the spice market and Gand Anse Beach? What would be a better day.

    Mindy

There are so many options here for you it could make it tricky for you to decide. I would highly receommend depending on whether you want some snorkel time or not the following:

Water, sightseeing & information - Grenada Seafaris Powerboat Adventure

Great fun and rolls everything into a 2.5hr tour including a guided snorkel in the marine park with the underwater sculptures. Then after this you could go to Grand Anse beach to relax the afternoon away.

Land, signtseeing & information - Mandoo tour

Loads of information, speakers in his bus so you can hear him as he gives you load of island information and then you can visit the beach too depending on if you want a full day island tour or a half day and then beach time

Both get great reviews on here and on TripAdvisor so I don't think you can go wrong. I hope you have a wonderful day on our beautiful island regardless of what you choose.:D

  15. We are trying to decide which tour would be better to do while on our cruise, as we cannot do both due to time. If anyone has done either of these tours and can fill me in on what the tours entail, it would be much appreciated.

It is my understanding that Belmont offers a great lunch, but no so much an extensive tour of the chocolate process to the end.

    Thank you.

Belmont Estate is closely linked to the Grenada Chocolate Factory and I know do talk about the chocolate process. As far as I am aware but am happy to be corrected by those that have done the Chocolate tour? that you can't actually visit the house where they make the chocolate anyway - I would highly recommend Belmont since is has the food, the animals the gorgeous gardens and the chocolate pods and beans :p

  16. We were scheduled to take the tour in December. Although we didn't get to take the tour (see below) we were very impressed with Seafaries.

It was a rainy, cloudy day. Seafaries agent (the captain's wife) met us at the port as arranged, along with several others. She told us that we could take the tour if we wanted, but that they were recommending that it be cancelled because of weather and sea conditions; rain, murky water and a swell.

We all agreed not to go, and I am glad as it poured several times as we walked around town. I felt it was very professional of them to be honest about conditions and whether or not we could actually see much at the site.

Since this meant that they had no income for that day, I felt that they were more than honest about the tour. I will certainly try again, if we get back to Grenada.

I passed the message onto Suzanne at Grenada Seafaris so she could see your lovely comments. She said: "We pride ourselves on the quality of our tour but more importantly the safety of our guests. We had a horrendous few weeks in December and again in January where sea conditions were terribly rough. Often sea conditions simply make the water a bit cloudy so the tour does run as you can still see many of the statues in the park and often more wildlife as the nutrients are stirred up. However, if the water is rough too and we deem it unsafe then we prefer not to put our guests in that situation as we would rather have them come back safe and sound and experience the tour as it should be experienced and I think our TripAdvisor reviews reflect that commitment to our guests."

I do hope you and the previous poster do get to experience the tour next time you visit our wonderful island. Come back soon :D

  17. Last time I went I just took a water taxi over the the best beach ever but as I was with my ex that time im not doing that again :/

I'm looking for a Catamaran/drive your own boat type of thing

    Thanks

If you are after boat trip I'd highly recommend Grenada Seafaris Powerboat Adventure. Its getting great reviews on Trip Advisor :)

  18. Thanks, they're future doctors. They have a car, so we're having them pick us up at one of the terminal's stores. The same one where we met up with Grenada Seafaris last year. It will be nice to see Grenada from the land this time. :)

Wow a year already  Time is flying by so fast! I wish you a wonderful day on our beautiful island - if you are heading up to Grand Etang get your friends to bring bananas and honk your horn when you get here so the monkeys know its time to meet new friends ;).

If you see Grenada Seafaris don't forget to say hi :)

  19. We have friends going to school in Grenada that want to pick us up and show us the island. Where would be the best place for them to do that?

So they must be at SGU aka St George's University. Medics or vets of the future? If they are mobile and I guess they are if they are showing you the island you can meet them inside the cruse ship terminal. All they had to do is park up and go meet you :D Have a wonderful day!

  20. Lazy Days is closer and to be honest since the vendors bought the cushions from the Coyaba you should also have nice loungers on offer nearby. I would suggest check out Lazy Days as by all accounts food and drinks are good and you are right there on the beach (also it isn't as far as Coyaba the older members of your party - although these days I'm seeing super sprightly 80 year olds which put me to shame.

    have a great day

  21. We'll be in Grenada next week.... any chance we'll experience these bug bites in December?

There are some times of the year where we get more mozzies than at others and the raining season is one of them  Sand flies or no-see-ums - are year round but tend to come out to play early mornings and early evenings (4-ish onwards)

The only advice I can give is to spray yourself liberally with repellant for mosquitoes and if you are going on an island tour and you think you are likely to be in cool, dark places - rum distillery, chocolate manufacturing at Belmont etc - then suggest take a change of clothes such as longer trousers?

I do hope the little things stay away from you and you really get the chance to enjoy our island un-nibbled.

  22. Looking for info about diving on our stop in Grenada. We have booked diving in St Croix, St Kitts and Dominica already and trying to decide what to do on Grenada.

I have done some research but can't find much about diving within the constraints of diving the short time we are in port. Anyone there recently?

    Thanks for any input.

There are numerous dive operations in Grenada and x4 of them are right on Grand Anse beach. You can find them by checking our the GSDA grenada scuba diving association website for info.

They have differing prices but worth checking the following to see what is included in the price as not all have everything in the price you see which may make them look attractive compared to others at the outset :o

    • additional $ for gear?
    • do they pick you up and drop you off at the ship or do you have to add the price of taxis in?
    • additional $ to enter the marine protected area (assuming that is where the dive is?

Whoever you choose I hope you have a wonderful day.

  23. Thanks for the referral Island Star, I sent Mr. Robinson an email, hopefully we'll hear first-hand about the river. We would love to do this tour.

    My pleasure Yoshi :)

Can finally say I have done this tour and thoroughly enjoyed it. There are a few areas where I grounded out and had to bump and wobble myself off to get going again but had hilarious fun doing so - totally recommend it. Only thing I would say is if the sun isn't out (rare but can happen) it can be a bit chilly so make sure you have your clothes ready and warm towel back on your bus. Have fun

  24. We paid $69 each in February of this year.

Am reliably informed the price hasn't changed from 2014 prices. Also worth noting that unlike some of the others the fee for access to the Marine Protected Area in which the sculptures lie, all snorkel equipment is included in the price. Also I hear they give full refunds if the ship doesn't dock due to bad weather or terrible sea conditions - some of the dive operations do not offer this refund. Worth checking with the others to see if they do the same.:o

  25. Hi, If we walk to Carenage is there an accessible beach nearby that we can walk to?

No you will need to take a local bus, a taxi or a water taxi to get to Grand Anse Beach which is the closest to town.

Bus - local flavour, sounds and speeds :D ec2.50 but you will need to go to the bus station (hang a left out of the terminal and keep going till you see the bus terminal and ask for a No1 to Grand Anse. YOu may wait a while for one to fill or you may be immediately whisked away to your destination. Either way you will have a safe trip and we are all super friendly folk :)

Taxi - the local taxi association can take you to the beach if that is al you want to do or you may be able to negotiate a nice mini tour to take in some sights and then a drop at the beach. Not going to quote as it varies on numbers of folks and what you plan to do on the day

Water Taxi - from cruise ship to beach and back again. I think it is US$4 per person each way but hearing tales of they wont let you buy a one way - am investigating that one and will update as and when I get an answer.
