  1. I had heard that either Regent or Oceania has a program for frequent cruisers who could travel at short notice - 2 weeks.. Now that we are retired and could leave on 1-2 weeks notice, I am trying to find out if it is the truth.

Basically I know that if you are on a waiting list for a cruise, you get called up to fill vacancies.. But if they ship is two weeks away from sailing and there are still a few cabin vacancies, is there a way they reach out to interested cruisers with a sweeter than normal deal for two?

If Regent or Oceania don't have such a process, does anyone know of other cruise lines that do that?

    Thanks

I put in earlier data, but I will now update.

Scheduled to depart April 1 on Splendor from Miami. Trip cancelled by Regent around April 13 and we filed for full refund 2 days later.

It has been a frustrating journey as they kept trying to refund on our CC and it wouldn't got thru. 3 weeks ago we got an unexpected  check in the mail from them with no explanation for almost $1000.

Our TA was talking to them continually. They said they would mail us the balance. Wednesday morning I checked my CC Balance and the total refund was there!!! Not sure why it wouldn't work in May, but it is done! Regent and we were persistent. It finally paid off and I can join those other happy cruisers who have gotten their full refund!!

Take a look at the second tab, "Deposit Only," of the spreadsheet.  The tabs are at the bottom.

There are currently only 4 in that tab that have not reported receiving their refunds:

@cruisealert has not reported in since 5/7/20.  Any updates?

@thumbun and @AuntyJan both canceled around the same time you did.  Any updates?

And yours is the fourth one.  I'm sure there are others, that either are not on CC or if they are they don't feel like reporting their experience here.

The people who cancelled in May seem to be getting a much faster turn around than those who cancelled in March and April, but there are some recent refunds from those who cancelled just before you.  I hope this means that they are working their way through the April cancellations and will get to yours soon.  You are still well under the "promised" 90 days, but I agree with you that it is unfair.  They are not going in the order of cancellation.

We have not received anything and have called Regent

    Sail date April 1 Splendor

    Regent Cancelled on March 13

    We requested refund April 14

    No $ as of June 9 😞

90 calendar days from date of refund. Regent currently processing refunds in 10 day batches. They were on April 1 - April 10 but may have moved on to April 11 - April 20.

I would GUESS you will get it around June 23...

I called Regent three times and still have not be reimbursed for March 15 cancellation of April 1  Splendor cruise. 90 days is a week away

I've posted this elsewhere and will add it here.

A standard refund is automated but the current situation is not covered by Regent's software so refunds are being processed manually.

If you want it faster, call them. It will speed up the process but you will get it in time no matter what.

Whom should I call at Regent? Just Customer Service? Our April 1 Splendor cruise was cancelled by Regent on 3/13 so 30 days have gone past so far.

On the Explorer the infinity pool was never full while at sea and rarely filled up even in port. I don't see the point of it all if you can never use the pool filled up.

Here is a link to a prior discussion on the Explorer Infinity pool (LINK)

Thanks for the link and photos. We will at least try it, but will miss the lounge that it replaced.!!

  8. We decided to sign up for a culinary course on our April 1st cruise on this new ship. The course costs $89/person. So my question is why does Regent charge for this, but Excursions are free. Most everything on board is "included " in our costs. The incremental costs for these classes is minimal. Why not just provide it frr of charge.

    Anyone have any good explanation?

  9. Last night my wife and I watched a 1 hour documentary on Netflix called The Ultimate Cruise Ship. It is about the design, building and launching of the Explorer. Absolutely fascinating and show is well done, especially the videography -- time lapse sequences of this unique build. Highly recommend.

We travel on it next year!! Frank Del Rio gets interviewed a few times, but mainly the builders and designers!

  10. Wow, that’s an early start. Has Regent given you any indication how they will get you to the airport?

We’ll be doing our deviation starting July 23 so won’t be able to benefit from your experience but will be interested in reading about your experience.

We arrive in Venice the day before, so early morning flights are very feasible -- but it will require a "too early departure" from our relaxing ship :-(
