  1. That's what's great about music - there's something for everyone !! Tom
  2. Thanks ! Being that it's just 20+ minutes from our home - looking forward to this FINALLY. It would be better still had it been the Reflection or Silhouette (for Lawn Club Grill/Porch) or an Edge class ship, but we'll take it ! Tom
  3. Agreed, they offer I had on a third and final night of the liberty sailing was for a free ocean view cabin with drinks on us while playing in the casino. JUNK Pretty much all my offers online are free cabins, up to suites, with drinks everywhere. I would take (basically) a cheers package booking any day over a drinks on us while playing offer. I don't want to feel I need to go gamble in order to get a drink on the house!
  4. I'm with you, I'd never call myself a fan of country music. The first couple of times we sailed on Celebrity (2008?), they had a harpist playing in Ocean Liner's. It was splendid, but it's gone too...
  5. That does exist, in fleeting moments, on a ship 🙂 Tom
  6. BTW, I'm not a prude (trust me), but there's a time/place for everything! Tom
  7. Sadly, you have to wonder if a couple of the people who can pull those levers in Miami are vapers themselves. Tom
  8. They played Lily Allen "Smile" right before Bitter Sweet Symphony. It caught my attention on two counts - I don't care for her (neither here nor there) and some of the lyrics of that song. Now - was it the radio edit version? I don't know, the server was at the table and talking with us. When you first left meI was wanting moreBut you were f*&^ing that girl next doorWhat'd you do that for? (What'd you do that for?) Tom
  9. Unless all that play hovered around a $0-100 level, never really breaking out. If I play a machine, it's going to be video poker - and then I still find myself getting numb/distracted. When I accidently discard a card I should have kept, I call it a day. I take that back, I've played another machine - a video blackjack game, that had female dealers who kept your attention... lol Tom
  10. Also, being a corner cabin, you've increased your odds of being able to find one or the other somewhere! Tom
  11. Am I the only one here who watches the Bellagio fountains (w/music not on the current Steakhouse playlist) and feels a tad of emotion. 🙂 Tom
  12. Most of our cabins we paid full fare for (and a majority were suites) - so when Carnival gives us 1 VIFP point for each night, those points are extra pricey. I guess my occasional posts regarding getting more points for more spend are pointless anyway - as they don't have a higher tier, nor will they ever have one that compares to many other (non-CCL) lines. Oh well ! Tom
  13. 15 has the most shade, 10-14 intermediate (all about the same), and 9 has more sun (more deck space overall), though on deck 9 if you're out there to get sun, everyone above you has clear view of you. Tom
  14. I'm thinking without the full whale tail, they don't get as much lift as they used to... perhaps poorer fuel economy... LOL Tom
  15. Fortunately, it's not like they loaded up 80 large and played it down (to 0), it the total played over the entire time - recycling small payouts and the such. When I'm playing BJ (ranging from $50-200/deal on average) I can't imagine what that technically adds up to over the course of an evening or a cruise... yikes ! Tom
  16. Many years ago, when carnival introduced the "Supper Club" (now all converted to Steakhouses), they had live music in there -- piano/singer. It made for quite the evening - feeling upscale, even at (then) just $25/person. For the most part, up until recently, they still had soundtracks running which at least included some easy listening/vintage tunes - Norah Jones, Sinatra, etc. It seems to vary ship-to-ship. I spoke about the current selection of tunes with the HD on the Liberty this past weekend (came up in conversation at the Diamond gathering). I expressed that, while I like almost everything they were playing, it just didn't seem to fit the bill for a "special" evening/meal. Yes, I know that Carnival is always trying to appeal to a broad group of people (new cruisers mainly on the Liberty - you'd think they'd have run out of blue cards - more than half of what I saw), but I'd still like to see a nod (now and again) to some tunes of days gone by... I'm not talking Big Band or 50's rock here, lol... The HD did say that what they play onboard is put in place by Miami. I'm thinking, perhaps, by people who don't actually cruise and maybe hear these songs when out on the town themselves, dunno. Like I said - I like most of these songs - and I like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but Californication just stands out (not in a good way) when enjoying a supposed upscale dining experience. Here's songs from two of our three nights there: Thoughts? Tom
  17. Shade and sun (on a balcony) - for me, sometimes, it's like the grass is always greener. If I want sun/warmth - there's shade. If I want shade/chill spot - there's full sun. 😄 Tom
  18. ... and ... you don't have to actually be retired ! 🙂 Tom
  19. On the Liberty this weekend, the only time I checked was after my first night. I was in there for almost 3 hours and managed about 900 points (BJ only). Tom
  20. Sort of like me with toast onboard - they're afraid to (almost) burn it. I will often tell them to run in through the toaster a second time, at least! BTW - I prefer my bacon crispy too. 🙂 Tom
  21. Using the Hub App, you can see your points at the end of the day (I usually look the next morning, not sure at what point they're updated). It will have a breakdown for tables and slots.
  22. Why do all of you guys have to rain on my parade? I've received Free Play (I'm only taking table games here) as promo chips in the past - apparently it's been a function of random timing and offers. At any rate, I prefer the cash 😁. Tom
