  1. Any chance there's pub-grub in there? (hey, can't blame a guy for trying!) I can drink ANYWHERE... at least the room service wings are better than they were at first roll out several years ago. Any sports bar (no matter what name you put on it) should have nibbles (not just nuts/chex)! Tom
  2. I'm guessing no pub-grub options in there? I'd hang out if there were wings and such. Tom
  3. The Wizard was my go-to source back "in the day". I'll have to go check that out. At the $25 table, on the 5/20 Celebration sailing, there was always someone (usually 2+) playing that bet. It seems that they were not losing enough just betting $50-200/hand. I found it strange, with all the greens/blacks being bet at that table over 8 days that the host never came by to meet any of us. Granted, I suppose it was a busy week (Premier sailing - of which I was not a part - better perks booking other offers). I always play two hands, and am often facing cards where I wish I was at a Blackjack Switch table (now, that's an interesting game). 🙂 Tom
  4. If I saw Guy in those things, I'd have to return them 😄 Tom
  5. Darn - they installed those double sensors at every box (so more will play the "lucky ladies"). Nothing like bright lights to attract more moths! That frustrates me as it slows the game down - when people are playing that over, and over, and over. There's a reason that Carnival wants to encourage people to play that side bet, it yields an even higher house advantage! Also, a traditional shoe at Fun21 lures in people who are trying to avoid a CSM - without many of them realizing the implications of being dealt from a (number of decks) where many 10's have been removed from play. It can be a "Fun" game, but look up strategy for Spanish21 first ! Oh well !
  6. Does anyone have photos of the suites (any updates?) following the dry dock? ... and, what's the status of the casino with regard to smoking? Tom
  7. Circumstances dictate... Have fun! Our first grandchild is due in a few weeks. Tom
  8. Hey Jimbo, if you see any recent Pride suite photos, give me a shout out 😊 Tom
  9. And - the Vista Suites (4228)? I'd really love to hear about a remodel of those cabins - which might cause me not to cancel our Thanksgiving sailing! I'd love to see any remodeled/suite photos from the Pride ! THESE are images of how 4228 looked over 20 years ago. I trust it's been updated (at least a little bit) since then? Please tell me that the tube TV and VCR are history ! 😉 Tom
  10. Yep - there are some steep drops out there (picturing cliffs on land). The lowest I saw the depth go to (open ocean, full speed) was 36'. I would not imagine that they'd be flying over depths like that, but I'm not a mariner! Tom
  11. I disliked them last week. A little too hard for me. If I had known that, I would have brought my own pillow (I had room in our suitcase). I used to have pillows on my packing list. Tom
  12. Points for table games are not as reflective/accurate. Just off the Celebration. I played 5 or 6 nights (8 night sailing) at the $25 BJ table. Perhaps 3-4 hours per night, betting a minimum of $50/deal, max of $300 - probably averaging $100. I earned 2600 points - lost thousands. Of course, could have easily won thousands too (well, not perhaps as easily- lol). It was a Premier sailing, though I booked on a much better offer. The host never came by to the $25 table... No worries - I didn't want massages, and already had pre-paid for specialty restaurants each night. Tom
  13. Yes, suites on Royal, NCL, Celebrity, and Carnival (in an Excel suite now, but they're going to kick us out tomorrow morning, lol). Tom
  14. I think I was pretty clear, and I was not kidding.
  15. And... you can't necessarily trust what's displayed there. I assume this is a totally separate system than what they use to navigate - otherwise we'd need a FULL STOP in the below image - out in the middle of the ocean! BTW, just a few minutes earlier, depth was 10,000+ ft.... then 5 minutes later it was 500... Tom
  16. Offers are, no doubt, based upon a wide matrix of data points (the more, the better, for Carnival). If I were them I'd use everything at my disposal. Tom
  17. Thanks for this discussion - as it remined me that I need to get to the cage and pick up our $25 promo chips in lieu of the tournament (I hope those never return - this alternative is MUCH better)! Tom
  18. I seem to also recall it on the Mardi Gras (2/27). Perhaps it's just a cut to save on expenses, lol. Tom
  19. Not only because there's so little offered on the TV's onboard, but I'll often keep the map channel running on the TV when we're in the room. It has a fair bit of interesting info - giving you an overview as to your location and conditions. Staring at it now, I'm faced with the reality that we're at our final stop of our ABC itinerary... 😞 I so wish the Bridge Cam feeds were still available for everyone to view online, and not only be enjoyed by those on the ship. Giving folks stuck on land something to look forward to ! OK, back to what I noticed is missing... On that channel they dutifully note the following (rotating through on the lower banner): Sunrise at present position Sunset at present position Sea depth Present wind speed Present air pressure Total distance sailed Those are useful bits of info (well, air pressure not so much, IMO). But, why do they no longer show the AIR TEMPERATURE ? I mean, yes, everyone who has ventured out onto the islands knows/understands that it's hot as hell out there. I'd personally like to see that info on this screen to help assign some value to the discomfort we've endured (or will endure)! Perhaps that's it, they don't want to discourage people from heading out, taking excursions, etc, if they see that it's 95 degrees or something outside? OK - I'm obviously just killing a little time here with these musings - as we prepare to head out. Perhaps I should take along the "little gift" we received with you our cabana to help cope with the HEAT! 😄 Tom
