Honestly...I really don't appreciate ANYONE or ANY ESTABLISHMENT telling me what I have to tip. I avoid as often as possible those who have adopted this stance.

TropicalIslandGirl..when exactly are you cruising? We set sail on Feb 7-17 2015 and I ALREADY have started planning and making lists! OCD here as you can tell. Friend request me on fb if you want..Chris Scarpitti Bobich Bloomer....

Skorts are my favorite and like you wear the spandex type shorts under my sundresses as this old lady has too much junk in the trunk!! Also love the long freeflowing halter style sundresses for dinners in the dining rooms. All the above are light weight and travel well

Some airlines allow 1 free checked bag while others don't. Will depend on which airline you use. Cost can be anywhere from $25-$75 so it pays to shop around. Notentirelynormal is spot on regarding the luggage. Stick with soft-sided if you can as they weigh lots less than the hard sided ones. There is a 50 # weight limited per bag..if you go over you have to either remove items and place elsewhere or pay the upcharge for overweight. 4 wheels indeed is the way to go. Much smoother transportation.

We have FINALLY got it down to just 2 bags and 2 carryon pieces for a 10 day cruise. Course we no longer do the formal night dressing at all and go eat elsewhere on the ship on formal nights as hubby is soooo over the dressing up bit. Not having to pack the formal clothes eliminates the 1 suitor bag. Group of us where just talking about this on fb the other night.

That is pretty good pricing actually for 5 pc set of luggage. Get set that has wheels of course as you don't want to have to lug anything around.
-
I do a lot of Ebay shopping too but not for clothes. Great deals on luggage for sure. And TJ Maxx has good prices and selection as well TropicalIslandGirl. I NEVER spend a lot on any of my luggage as you know it gets thrown around a lot by the TSA agents, baggage handlers and porters.

$hip$hape...THAT is SOOOO what my husband wants to do all the time! It must be a over 60 guy thing!
-
Oh heck yes I can get into SOOOO much trouble at TJ Maxx! Heck I can get in trouble shopping just about anywhere! LOL!
We have lots of fun chats going on fb regarding upcoming trips..both cruise and land. So many of us are sooo very liked minded. Christine Scarpitti Bobich Bloomer...aka MamaTene of course. I have found so many friends there that also post here. Isnt it great to have places like this to share our excitement?!

You have every reason to not be happy with that TA..he gives other TA's (whether internet or brick and mortar) a bad name and makes people RUN. I still think you should cancel with him and book elsewhere.
Now about those new clothes..yep I do the same thing..try to get into better shape and lose a few pounds during the months preparing for a cruise. I guess I should ALWAYS have a cruise in the works to keep focused on diet!
By the way..wondering..do you Facebook?

I live in NE Ohio and can fully understand the bit about LONG COLD WINTERS TropicalIslandGirl. Shopping for clothes for a cruise help speed along the dreary days I say.
Hope you were able to get the "situation" with that TA resolved to some type of ok scenario that benefits you. I will say he is totally full of it and lying telling you what he did about the commission!

Even though I have been on over 20 cruises and have plenty of clothes I STILL always have the antenna up! LOL!

We sail this beauty on Feb 7-17 and are sponging up as much information as we can garner from folks who have sailed her. Thanks for taking the time to post as much as you can during your cruise. So very much appreciated. Have a wonderful time. Wishing you sunny skies and smooth sailing!

It is unfortunately that some people cant seem to express themselves or their views without attacking. I see that you are relatively new to this site TropicalIslandGirl..sad that this is the type of responses you are getting. Again, feel free to join our group on the Royal Princess Feb7-17 sailing. Check out our Roll Call even if you wont be sailing with us. Lots of information there that will assist you in educating yourself on how all this works. One question, are you sailing alone? If so, I know there is a 200% upcharge on the pp rate. Look for posts from me on the Roll Call...MamaTene. We aren't permitted to post our email addresses on this site as that is against policy

If it were me, I would book the BEGINNING of February at the latest and stay away from mid Feb to mid April. In fact, that is exactly what my group is doing in 2015. Sailing aboard Royal Princess Feb 7-17.

Since you are no way near a penalty phase for cancelling the cruise entirely and booking directly with the cruise line of you choice, THAT is the route I believe would best serve. The agent that has the booking and down payment has to refund it to you, you are out of having to deal with him again and you start over, dealing direct with line.

Hubby retires 3 weeks from today. BIG celebration planned for him and his retirement "gift" from me is money to soup up his showcars even MORE than they already are. As for me, Feb 27, 2015 CANT GET HERE SOON ENOUGH. My retirement party is Feb 28!. Gift for me is cruise aboard Royal Princess Feb 7-17!

Does same hold true now for children of divorced parents? The NON custodial doesn't have to provide certified letter allowing children out of the country? Surmise the grandparents aren't custodial of the children.

My rule of thumb expensive cruise book with TA, inexpensive, book with princess.
LandLover: You saying that Princess doesn't fare so well in providing discounts for the more expensive cruises?
-
I've never sat on the railing! (Thankfully I have enough sense to know NOT TO!) Amazing how people ACTUALLY have to told this is a NO NO!
-
Interesting thread with valid points on both sides of using a TA vs booking direct with Princess. As for me, have ALWAYS used a TA (same one for the last 15 cruises AT LEAST) and have to say that the price the cruise line states is the pp rate for cruises I have booked is always significantly more than what my agent quotes me BEFORE applying her agency discount. Case in point, Princess recently posted a drop in the pp price for our category. THAT price is over $200 more per person than what we are paying! I for one will stick with my agent as they always monitor rates for drops that indeed end up lower than what we are paying and adjust accordingly as well as positioning us it such a way as to get coveted upgrades!

Never have done laundry on the ship
Never have spit off of the balcony!
Never had a massage onboard
Never have had to visit the medical area onboard (husband has)

Have them bring a bowl of gelato and glass of milk and mix it together! Probably won't taste same but what the heck..worth a try! Or bring a dish of the soft serve ice cream to add to the milk.

Which days of the 10 day sailing aboard Royal Princess are the formal nights? I understand there are 2 of them
