  1. I no longer celebrate my birthday. Instead, I celebrate anniversaries of my 25th birthday. I am quickly approaching my 48th anniversary of that special b-day.
  2. And simple logic says if passengers weren't getting value from these packages they wouldn't be buying them. Maybe it's the passengers who are taking advantage of Princess! I know I will save money with the Plus package by paying less for my coffees, sodas, water bottles, wine and alcoholic drinks than if I had to buy them individually. So aren't I the one "clouding the issues"??? Why in your view does everything have to be Princess trying to take advantage of passengers (I'm also including your insistence that Princess is selling the information gained by use of the medallion devices)?
  3. I am unclear why you even want to cruise considering that all cruise ships are "tracking" you with the hundreds of CCTV cameras on board. Plus, every time you use your medallion (or key card) to purchase something or to get off and on the ship, they are "tracking" you. They have a record of everything you purchased or used if they want to sell that information. A ship is an enclosed society unlike most any other environment. Everything you do can be recorded in some way. There is no way around this other than take a different type of vacation. Placing your medallion in an RFD blocker is a waste of energy because of all the cameras on board. You won't be causing them any issues. If they want to track you, the can do so by monitoring the cameras with face recognition technology and pulling up your medallion or key card activity. The only person having to deal with "issues" is you due to your limited use of the benefits the medallion provides.
  4. I never thought about the cctv cameras. I guess I'll just have to wear a disguise. I wonder if this one will work? Ah, who am I kidding. I am not the paranoid conspiracy theory type that thinks the whole world is out to take advantage of me. So no disguise for me. I'll enjoy the benefits of the Medallion and have myself a good time rather than be afraid of being spied upon all the time. Life is too short to voluntarily turn it into a dystopian society.
  5. I'm in my mid 70s and have had no problems using the app. I have been able to enter all the pertinent info for my wife and I, including our photos and images of passports and vaccine cards and barcodes. Using the app also allowed us to book all of our restaurants months in advance, including which dining room, the time, and the size of table. Specialty dining has also been reserved on the app. I found the process easy. I do have a 'let's have fun with this' attitude towards learning new things, including tech stuff, instead of fighting it and hating it before even starting. I think it makes the process so much easier when a person doesn't start with a negative attitude. But that's just me. I refuse to let my old age cause me to be a prisoner to fear of technology and allowing it to intimidate me from enjoying things that are new and different.
  6. It's amusing that the poster making that comment is completely oblivious to how well it applies to herself.
  7. It's easy to identify the chair hogs on this forum by their unending rationalization and excuses for doing what they do. And now they are shouting about criminal minds and trespassing! The truly entitled are here in full force defending their anti-social actions.
  8. Agree, They are taking two chairs out of circulation - the one they saved at the pool, and the one they are occupying in the buffet. I see nothing wrong with going to the buffet to pick up food and bringing it back to eat at the pool. But sitting in the buffet to eat while denying people an unused lounger is not appropriate. Chair hog times two!
  9. I purchased the shares last week and as soon as they appeared in my portfolio after verification of the funds transfer from my bank, which took less than three days, I submitted my request and had the OBC on my cruise account within 4 hours. Handled everything myself with no assistance from my TA or broker.
  10. I think toofewcruises must cruise on Jewish owned cruise ships. Besides the Cross Grill, which specializes in "Last Supper" menus, the other specialty restaurant available is Sabbath's, the Kosher specialty restaurant.
  11. This was common on ocean liners during their glory years, especially in first class accommodations.
  12. The staff will use your security photo for identification. Only they will have access to it. The photo you include as you avatar can be anything. It doesn't have to be a photo of yourself. I use this image - unfortunately, I sort of look like an overweight version of this infamous celebrity 🤣:
  13. Alas, chair hogs aren't going to be extinct any time soon!
  14. Sun Princess is the new Sphere class ship that Princess just announced and will be launched in 2024. It will be LNG powered and a distinct departure from Princess' earlier ship designs. At least one more of that class has been ordered, that one to launch in 2025. https://www.princess.com/ships-and-experience/ships/su-sun-princess/
  15. They aren't using the loungers to store their stuff. They are using their stuff to "reserve" a lounger.
  16. And check the deck plans. The fire doors will be shown there. This diagram below is of the Lido deck on Sky. The fire doors are circled in yellow.
  17. No need to be snarky! 🙄 Both cruise lines have their plusses. Celebrity isn't perfect, just like Princess isn't. I have been gravitating towards Princess for several reasons, mostly for their itineraries.
  18. It's not only the quality of the steak, but the quality of the entire meal and service. Celebrity's Tuscan Grill has always been a higher end experience than Princess' Crown Grill. Celebrity food in general is better than Princess, not only in my opinion, but also for many cruise industry experts. Princess is good, but not great.
  19. Yes. I would rather pay 50% more for a great steak than end up with a mediocre steak for a few dollars less. Quality has it's worth.
  20. Pinnacle Grill on Holland America was $29 before the pandemic (the last time we dined there) and I have read that it is now $35. Tuscan Grill on Celebrity is $30 the last time we sailed on Millennium four years ago. Not sure about today.
  21. The steak I had on our last cruise on Grand was nothing to be excited about. It was mediocre at best. I did not try any equivalent offerings in the MDR, so can't compare. I can compare Crown Grill steaks with those I have had at Tuscan Grill on Celebrity and Pinnacle Grill on Holland America, and Princess is a distant third.
  22. Agree. The only advantage is the quieter, more intimate environment. Otherwise, the food quality is no better than the MDRs. Specialty restaurants on the other lines we have been on have been far superior to those on Princess.
  23. Been having issues all morning. Tried about a dozen times over two hours and no luck logging on.
