  1. The Ncl Star did similar itinerary to this last year....no visas were needed before boarding, the ship sorts it out...Egypt standard visa is $25 at entry points....would expect the ship to add it to your on board account.

Jordan is done by the ship.....The Star group used Jordan Horizons for Petra & Love Egypt Tours for Safaga.

I'm booked on the return leg..Dubai to Athens.

  2. I would do a ships excursion if I were you...or any private operator would take to Cairo and return to Port Said.

I have done overnight tour from Port Said to Cairo...but 1 day is risky with traffic...plus Egyptian customs can be slow in getting you off the ship in a hurry.

Take a ships tour if you can.

  3. Terry,

Look forward to another awesome review from you on Oceania...The Ncl Star visited Aqaba twice this year and private tours were arranged through Jordon Horizons...they have 7 seater vans and larger buses with free Wi-Fi.

The first cruise was blogged by Heather...this is her review.

Price was around $150 p/p including entry fees

  4. If the balcony cabins are all sold out...you have a good chance of doing it....especially if you booked direct thru Ncl.

A few years ago we had two suites and ship was full....swapped them for the Garden Villa...plus some extra $.

It is possible to do it...but only if ship is full.

  5. Checked the current location of NCL Star and she is indeed en route to Sharm from Safaga. Phoenix Reisen's Albatros is also en route to Sharm (from Hurghada). Now seems they were told on Black Watch that it was to do with the timing of the Suez crossing, so that may be the case, but I am always a bit suspicious of reasons given for dropping a port!

Looks like I am probably just over reacting to this though. Thanks for the replies.

I hope there are no problems for Israel or Israeli people.

    Barbara

Star is overnighting in Haifa on Sunday.......subject to change.

  6. It's probably cleared and they are all set to depart at that time. I don't think the statements a big deal (unless the Azipods fail as they fire them up to pull away!) .

    Very true Dave.

It amazes me how people try to turn good news into negative news.

  7. It also said, and I quote (my emphasis),

The ship departed from Melbourne on February 14th at 2pm local time

The time/date in Melbourne at the present is 7.20am on the 14th February.

How can someone earning enormous sums of money put his name to a document that is so totally incorrect.

How do you know that the ship is not fixed right now and certified.

  8. Ncl must be confident it will be fixed, some folks from the Brisbane departure that was previously cancelled have been told it's back on and the Ncl provided flights are not required.

The ship can't make Brisbane in time on just one pod,so we can presume it's back to two.
