  1. DId you see any drink cards for sale, and if so, what day and the cost?

Do you recall the price of VOOM?

We did the just coke card. It ended up at $78 each for the cruise. They were selling them the whole time we were on the ship. I did see a 10 drink package you could purchase but didn’t remember the price.

They have a cooler with 5 beers for $35 and you keep the cooler. I don’t remember seeing any buckets of beer offered.

  2. We are going for our first time on our Jan. 28 cruise. Can’t wait. We usually go to Paradise Beach. Be interesting to compare amenities with a way smaller crowd.

  3. I have never done Amelia, but Hilton is great. Check out resort for a day. I believe we paid $60 each but they give you a $40 food and drink credit.

They really limit the number of guests so look early. Food was great, beach was great, and it was a easy walk from the ship.

  4. It is very possible to have a good time in Freeport. I am a Cruise Critic oddball on this one.

Freeport is one of my favorite places in the world. I have almost messed up and bought a time share a couple of times. I just couldn't get them to my price.

Try to get to Taino beach if you don't do the grand whatever. That is very nice too and you can get a day pass pretty cheap.

That is right across the street from Count Baisie square. Lots of eating places there.

  5. Everything I read a couple years ago in the Playa forum was talking about not using them. I stand corrected.

We have a driver named Pino that is supposed to meet us at 9:00 when we get off the ship.

After looking at peoples pictures from the east side I am even more excited.

  6. After much deliberation I booked with Tours Plaza this evening. I felt better about it than just getting Joe cab for a day. It has great reviews on Travelocity so away we will go. They quote $107 or the first 3 hours and $25 per hour after that. We will meet them at 9:00 in the morning. I am waiting their email with details on where to meet. They have coolers in the car so we will probably by a few drinks and some ice for the drive.

  7. I agree with Bluewater, banks at home will charge a large fee. We checked into Bank of America and Wells Fargo two years ago before we went for a week in Playa. Cash use the local changer, but if you want bang for the buck Bank of America works. For one day, probably local is the way to go. Check the rate right before getting on the ship or maybe guest services can tell you before you get off in Cozumel.

  8. I recall seeing life vests at playa Mia, but don't know if they had to pay. Playa Mia is a little further down from Paradise beach. We usually go to Paradise and see lots of kids on the sea toys. We were there last month and the staff would not let you walk into the water at the rocky area.

It is a $13 cab ride for 4 people to Paradise and 3 each to get in. That gets a chair and umbrella. I think it is $12 to do the water toys. They do have a $10 cover charge there, but we always eat lunch and have a few sofas and virgin drinks. Typically for 2 people we spend about $65 for the whole deals taxi and all. We don't do the toys.

  9. The best experience, for us at least, was renting a car from ISIS which is near the ferry dock and drive the island. Head south along the west coast and stop at a nice, quiet beach, then around the southern tip and back up along the east coast. We like stopping at the Bob Marley Bar just as you round the south tip, the views there are amazing. And the rugged east coast is beautiful. You can stop at a couple beach restaurants for lunch at your leisure.

ISIS is a great outfit to deal with, we also rent from them when we are staying in Playa Del Carmen and the rental is cheap ($35 - 45 and that includes the insurance you want). So a nice way to enjoy the day at your own pace, and very inexpensive.

You'll also find great ideas for places to stop on the Coz forum on TripAdvisor.

ISIS is a kind of scary name for a car place.[emoji23]. Do they take cash or did you use a credit card? I don't trust car places with credit cards there. I have heard too many stories.

  10. I contacted Black Hat last week and have not had an answer yet. I double check my junk mail as I assume that is where it will go to.

I used the website space to contact them.
