Usually if it is our first time to a island or port we will do a carnival excursion to get the lay of the land a little bit. After that we almost always book on our own. We used discountexcursions.com in Grand Cayman as well and loved it. Cozumel we always do our own thing now. As mentioned before use the port guides in this app and then check a few other internet rating sites once you find a couple you like.

We will be going on our first back to back cruise in November. Part of the reason we chose to do it was only having to pay for airfare once. Something to keep in mind for the future, many hotels near airports offer long term parking packages with a free airport shuttle if you stay one night at their hotel. It depends on the location but some don't charge for parking at all if you stay one night.

Most of the cruise and park hotels I have used say up to 7 days. I learned something again today. Thanks for the great posts today!

Per cabin.

When you have to fly any distance staying on a boat for another week really is good judgement. Airline tickets are so expensive these days.
Interesting comment. I never really thought of it that way. It would really be good if you could get a ride to the airport and not have to pay for parking. I may check into what a cab from my house to Nashville would run and compare that to parking.

I learned something new today. Great information. That is why I hang out on these sites.

Drinks are not free on room service. I believe coffee may be, but even if you have the soda sticker on your card or the liquor package they charge on room service.

If it was $280 for the cabin yes. I do to know if I would have done it for $280 pp. once you add extra tax it would be over $600 if it was pp.

I am pretty sure the dolphin encounters would do that too if for nothing else for insurance purposes.

I am not sure about the dolphin, but the snorkel trips I have done always include life jackets. Most have inflatable jackets so you can let air out if you want to dive to see something, then blow it back up if you want to just float and kick about.

I am going for my first cruise in November on the Elation to Cozumel and Progresso. Regarding your quote above, why is it not good to shop in Cozumel? Does Progresso have good shopping? I don't mean expensive stuff necessarily, just the little shop stuff where you walk along from shop to shop.
If you are on your first cruise I recommend going to the port talks and the shopping talks. Cozumel is the shopping island on this cruise if you are looking for jewelry and liquor. Progreso is great for trinkets.
Cozumel is also going to be your cruise or snorkel stop on this cruise. Progreso is best used as a jump off spot for Mayan ruins or Merida.
When I took my parents on this cruise out of New Orleans, we shopped about a hour and a half in the port area of Cozumel and then we t to a beach. I suggest checking out the port of call forums on Cozumel for more info on how to do the beaches cheaper if you want to go to one.
This will be my 3rd trip on this itinerary and about my 6th trip to Cozumel.

what is the chair hogging policy that you have mentioned?
People putting towels on chairs at 6:00 am and not using them until 12:00. Any chairs unused for 40 minutes are supposed to have the belongings removed.

So I suppose you have to play more than $50 per cruise in the casino. It would be great to hit something big early then just dump it all back in. Even if you didn't win but got free cruises it would be a win!

We took a carnival excursion to blue something beach. It wasn't too bad but not the best of beaches either. I typically go on ship excursions my first time somewhere just to get a feel for it, then venture out on my own. Downtown Jamaica was not scary to me, but I have seen people get hit by cars and the drivers just keep on going in Nairobi.

We would go to the back balcony to have our late night snack. Pretty empty then too.

I can't get that to work. It keeps kicking me back to the beginning.

Wee booked the November 28 2016 while we were on the Fascination last week. We thought about the Nov. 9th sailing but thought we could use the extra $100 somewhere else.
Can't wait. 421 days!

It looks like there are a lot of people excited about being able to leave from Mobile. There may be a couple other threads about this cruise. We need to see which it the official roll call.

I have taken a back pack in both times I was there. We went in May last year and had no issues.

I have done dzibilchultun 2x with autoprogreso and I think it was about $40. It includes a stop in Merida for lunch or shopping on the way back. This is the only ruin we have been to. If you have a chance to have Pibil Chicken during your time there I highly recommend it.

My dad stops at the massage hut right before the straw market area to get a massage as soon as he gets there. It is inside a building. If you go to the beach there are several massage vendors you can find for a good rub down.

We did the double decker bus tour last year. I believe it was $3.00 each.

We just booked this cruise while on the Fascination last week. Is anyone else going on this one?

We sit on the serenity deck at night and talk about the day and things we don't normally have time to talk about. Just relaxing and enjoying each other's company away from the rat race is a great change for us.

Wish I could help. It was not available on the Fascination in September.
