  1. I will go out on a limb and guess that it wasn't leftover soap and some pop.

Well, thanks for making fun of me. The soap would have been thrown out if another crew member hadn't suggested I ask our cabin steward. The soda would have been just left behind but, since it wasn't a Pepsi product, I thought the steward might like it. Lord knows he was much more enthusiastic and gracious than you appear to be.

By the way, if you think that soap and soda is the ONLY thing he received, you are sadly mistaken.

  2. At the end of one of my cruises, we had left over liquid laundry soap(you never know, right?)and some soda I had brought, neither of which I wanted to bring back home. I asked a different crew member about the soap because I knew I didn't want to just pour it down the drain. It was suggested that I offer it to our cabin steward, which he happily accepted. That plus the soda. He assured us that he would be able to share it with his colleagues and not have to throw it out.

  3. That's another good reason to book early. My 2018 Panama Canal cruise was/is such an incredible deal that I was afraid the window (ocean view) cabins would sell out quickly (which they did -- I think they're already sold out). The price has gone up a little since I booked it, likely in response to the strong bookings.

Same with our cruise to Alaska in August 2017. We booked it this past New years Day and since then, the suites that we wanted are all gone for this particular cruise(luckily, we grabbed one before they sold out).

  4. I don't know if this is allowed so, I hope the moderators won't slap my hand too hard if it isn't.

I have an app on my phone called Ship Mate. You can enter your coming cruises and even find excursions, which I have both done and used with no problems.

  5. I had a similar cabin on the Sky on my very first cruise in 2010. Deck 10, directly below the Great Outdoors. Constant noise overhead all night, every night. We couldn't be moved because the ship was full. IIRC, we received some small compensation after complaining.

    Now, for the good part.

I know that my husband is a very light sleeper so I, being a first-time cruiser, actually went on these very boards and asked for advice concerning our cabin selection. At the time I booked it, I didn't know anything about what to look for concerning cabin location. I WAS ADVISED TO MOVE AND DIDN'T TAKE THE ADVICE!!

Bottom line, who's fault is it that we were kept awake all night? Mine or NCL's?

Mine, of course. If you look at my signature, it is obvious that very first experience didn't turn me off.

  6. Free fall is pretty intense but super fun, the yellow and magenta one is fine and fun too. No jewelry at all on the free fall, had to go back to room and put everything in the safe!

Just to expand on that, when they say "no jewelry", they mean NO JEWELRY! No wedding rings, no earrings, no necklaces, etc. And, they aren't kidding, either.

  7. Despite being boarding group 19 on Breakaway today, we were able to purchase the Vibe Beach Club passes. We arrived at the port at 8:15am and was the 10th person to go through security, we were given boarding group 19. Not sure why they gave everyone random numbers and not chronological order as you arrived at the port. I was furious as I watched everyone else who came hours after us, get on the ship before us. I'm just relieved we somehow still got the Vibe passes.

I think that only proves my point that not as many people know about the Vibe as one would think. Or hope:rolleyes:

  8. Just curious...What time did you arrive at terminal to get boarding group 6? Hoping to get vibe passes for our April 24th sailing as schools are off that week. Also I've read that you cannot pick up passes for a spouse/cabin mate, but can only get 1 per person-- is that true?

We got to the terminal around 10:00 AM but, because one of my travel companions required a wheelchair, we didn't get checked in until after 11:30. Then, we were brought right onto the ship. There were lots of people on board before us. I would guess that we were in front of Guest Services by 12:30. I got in line and there was a crew member there(not behind the counter but actually standing by the line), handing out numbered slips of paper for the Vibe passes. I asked for and received three. It was apparent that one of my companions was right behind me but the disabled one was off away from us. I still received three of the numbered papers.

  9. Just came off Breakaway last week. Cannot speak about cabanas but passes are $99 for the week and well worth it. You can get them at guest services. We were in boarding group 6 and still managed to get three of the passes. Judging from the questions I both overheard and received while onboard, I don't think a lot of the passengers know about Vibe. I could be wrong, but, that was my impression.

  10. I was also on Breakaway for this cruise. Captain came on intercom around 10:00AM and said that a passenger needed to be in the hospital and so the ship would be headed back to NY at full speed. No other info was available and I never heard what happened. Quite a few code "Alfa" (passenger needing medical help)on this cruise, including at sail away.

  11. Can anyone confirm where to currently purchase vibe passes on Breakaway? We sail 4/24. Headliners or guest services etc

Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

Guest services. We were in boarding group 6 and still managed to get three of the Vibe passes. I highly recommend them.

  12. Actually, there is a very easy way to get a "no frills" booking. It is called the AARP discount.

I don't drink so the beverage package doesn't mean anything to me, the speciality restaurants don't mean anything special to me(if I want to go to a steak house, I can do that at home), I would rather completely unplug so the internet package means nothing to me and the shore excursion perk won't be missed if I don't book excursions through NCL.

I book using the AARP discount, don't pick any of the perks and BINGO, instant "no frills"! And, yes, I know the discount only works for bookings 9 months or longer out.
