  1. We did this tour earlier this month. Was probably our favorite excursion of the trip.  Short walk to marina and took a boat to Nevis.  About 30 minutes. Provided beverages on the boat.  Then got on a bus.  Ours was an air conditioned bus.  The other was more of a school bus.  Smoothie was our tour guide and he was knowledgeable and funny.  Made several short stops on the tour and then went to the beach where we had lunch ( choice of two entrees). We had about 1 1/2 hours after that on the beach.  Chairs provided.  I will say there’s not a great changing area there so might want to wear swimsuit with coverup.

  2. We stuck to the classic beverage package and everything we wanted was included.  The waiter asked which package we had and got us wine within our package.  We had frozen daiquiris, chocolate martini, coffees and teas at no additional charge.  Of course, it all depends on what you like and how much you drink if it is worthwhile to upgrade.

  3. We had 2000 on the Apex a week ago.  On a sunny day most of the lounge chairs near the pool were taken but we usually found a place to sit.  There are lots of lounge chairs close by not directly by the pool, too.

  4. We were just there and walked around Old San Juan.  It is not easy if you have any mobility issues because of the unlevel cobblestone streets, narrow sidewalks, traffic, etc.  You can walk along the waterfront which is easier and there are some stores and a couple restaurants, food carts. My parents who are in their 80's were with us and they hired a taxi to drive around and give them an hour long tour which worked perfectly for them.  He was directly across the street from the pier.

  5. We just stayed at the AC Hotel by Marriott Dania Beach/Fort Lauderdale Airport.  It's connected to the Marriott and they share a swimming pool and gym.  They have complementary shuttles from the airport and you can pay for a shuttle to the port.  It  is a newer hotel, very clean with a nice pool.  It is a short walk to shops and restaurants which was nice.

  6. We were on the Apex last week.  Except for the evening we were docked in San Juan, the evening shows were at 7:30 and 9:30.  We had 6:00 dining and would go straight to the theater.  The waiters often asked if we were trying to get to the 7:30 show to time our meal.  Never had an issue.

  7. My husband and I did our proctored Abbott Covid test today.  You do need to have a sign-in set up for the Navica app.  The whole process took around 25 minutes.  No wait to be connected to the proctor.  Just followed their directions and waited the 15 minutes for the test process and then maybe 5 minutes to get the results.  Do not open the box ahead of time as they will watch you opening it.  Also, have your drivers license or other form of official ID so they can confirm your identity.  I will say that it is helpful to have a second person available as you have to use your phone while they watch you opening the supplies and it's not easy with just 2 hands.

  8. When I called to ask the price to upgrade the drink package, they told me I'd still have to pay the $69/day.  We have the classic beverage package already.  I wouldn't mind the $10 additional but it would be crazy to pay $69.  Did they give me incorrect information?

  9. Is there anything else at the Fish Fry area or is it all restaurants and food trucks?  Entertainers or shops?  Wondering if it is worth getting a taxi to go there for lunch.

  10. I have a few random questions about the Apex.  Is there a library on the ship where you can borrow/trade books?  I'm guessing they may have done away with libraries now since most people use e-books.

Also, are there any activities such as a putting green, basketball goal, etc.?  I think I saw they have ping pong.

Are all the movies shown on the upper deck or do they do any inside the theater?

    Thank you!

  11. We will be in San Juan in March in the evening (3:30 - 11:00) and will be with elderly parents who can walk fine short distances, but worried about cobblestone streets in Old San Juan.  Is it flat or hilly going to Old San Juan from the pier? We were thinking of getting a taxi to drive us around to see old and new San Juan.  Are there any particular places we should specify we want to see and any idea of the price for a taxi/tour?  There's a ship excursion that would be an option as well but were more interested in a private tour.  Also, if we do walk through Old San Juan, we'd probably like to stop to try mofongo and a drink, not looking for a large meal as we'll be eating enough on the ship!  Any recommendations?  Thank you for your help.
