God bless NYC. 6 hours to San Juan? I can think of plenty of places I can reach in 6 hours and San Juan aint one of them.
-
I just wonder whether the middle-class in North America is slipping away and growing elsewhere.
-
I mention this because Seabourn (a subsidiary) has sold its ships that sail the Caribbean. And it's becoming near impossible to find a Caribbean cruise from FLL on them.
-
Just read two interviews with CEOs of Carnival and RCI. Very clear both see growth in Asia. What's going to happen to Caribbean cruises?
-
I strongly suspect most will disappear for Asia and South America routes. Maybe the new ship will pick up a few.
-
I believe P&O is changing its color schemes and logos on its ships.

It's a sign HAL will remain mass market.
They lose money when they discount the S class.
But their newer builds aren't that big in comparison to the competition.
HAL better decide to go large or face getting stuck with Vistas and Pinnacles that can't compete with the discounts.
-
You can also order a bottle at the bar and keep it there. Much cheaper than by the glass.
-
Cash, please. No-brainer.
-
Bespoke is never on sale. Sadly.
And HAL would choke at the price. The date of the item easily tracked from purchase. Can show them the online record.
-
Thankfully, never had a laundry issue with HAL or any other ships. And since many of my items are bespoke, I'd love to see the look on their faces when I told them how much that shirt cost.

Pharmom is correct.
The cast doesn't write the show. They perform it. And it's hard work dancing at sea. Motion of ocean doesn't make it easier.
-
Come to New York and see a Broadway show. Of course, it will cost more than a per day fare on HAL.
-
Perhaps on the biz trip, bring them along and grab a tailor or just buy a new pair of trousers.

Jane was always helpful to me when I came into the Seabourn room. She reminded me of someone whom we sailed with on HAL. Sad she's gone. But I suspect she lived life with gusto and what more can you ask.

We were aboard NOORDAM, at the bar before dinner, when the fire alarm sounded. I looked at the bartender and said, "Fire alarm?" He shrugged. "No, that was nothing," he said.
A minute later, bing-bong-bong. "This is the captain. There is a fire."
First, it was a few cabins away from ours.
We sat and had our drinks while I plotted how to get to cabin and safe. Mrs. M plotted how to save her stuffed bear.
Bing-bong-bong. Fire out.
Scary.

At the end of the day, so what. I may mitigate a few years. This guy is getting 20.

Since he ended up in federal stir, Im sure the FBI was waiting at the pier.
-
It's a good question because technically the crime occurred in Holland. I think the line is happy to pass it off to US courts.
-
He pleads not guilty because he has a lawyer. The attorney works on a deal to reduce the sentence. BUT, no parole in federal court.
-
HAL ship might have cleaned it a bit
-
Nude cruises on HAL, along with gay and lesbian cruises, have been done for years on HAL. The crew handles them like all other cruises, providing the best service.
-
If I recall, when I was in Florida last week, the crewman was being detained there. So I assume there will be a court proceeding of some sort in federal or state court. And it will be covered.
When you do a 'final' cruise on a ship what condition should you expect it to be in?
in Holland America Line

I wouldn't necessarily worry about the condition of the ship. Id be more worried about the hundreds of crewmen who'll be out of work.
