The Island is my favorite ship! And we've been on plenty of different Princess ships over the years. We prefer aft suites, and before the remodel, the Coral and Island didn't have any aft suites. Now the Island does, and these suites are more spacious and modern than the midship suites, with a larger balcony - at least that's true for the Vista Suites - I don't know about the other suite categories. Yes, I'd prefer an International Cafe, but I'd prefer an Alfredo on every ship, too. We were on the Island over Christmas and New Years, so lots of people were out and about, and I never felt the ship was overly crowded. I would not hesitate to go on the Island again. In fact, if I had a choice between the Island and any other ship, I would choose the Island. Unfortunately, the Island doesn't usually go where we want to travel...

So pleased to read this we are booked on the Island  for 28 days next April from LA to Hawaii, Tahiti and Samoa we were torn between Emerald and Island but dates worked better for us on the Island. We loved the Caribbean Princess so hoping the Island will be the same standard which ever ship we cruise on we always enjoy it.

  2. We have been on Braemar a few times and smoking wasn't really a problem, not so many people smoke these days and there are areas on the open deck which are dedicated to smoking it is not allowed in all areas. I would advise to check cabin layout as some cabins on the ships don't have room to have beds side by side some are arranged in an L shape but we really enjoyed the ambiance of a Fred cruise very much like a country house hotel.

  3. We have done a few Thomson cruises and enjoyed them but not yet done P and O setting off very soon on that one though. We found Thompson's very relaxed they had one formal night for which about 50% of people dressed for these days I think it may be dress to impress. The dining is all freedom and you can usually find a table for 2 if you don't mind waiting although we tended to share and met a few characters along the way. We did find the shows very good in the evening and there was a band on deck most days. other entertainment tended to be quizzes and bingo we didn't find any cooking demos or visits to the galley on our cruises if the itinerary was right we would definately use Thomson again.we had a balcony cabin and had Clarins toiletries which were replenished once during our 7 night cruise in our outside it was standard shower gel shampoo form the same bottle of the wall. Hope this helps.

  4. Thanks for posting this we had looked at the hotel as we were thinking of doing a ex Southampton cruise but decided against it opting for a fly cruise instead. We have been from Southampton before and will again with a hotel stay the night before so one off the hotel list.

  5. Tides is fabulous and looks out on the sea but about 45 mins up the west coast, champers is also great there are quite a few in st Lawrence gap you can look up places to eat on the net. Little good harbour also has a great little restaurant but again its quite a way from the port. Another that comes to mind is Lone star.We have never had anything but exceptional food in these restaurants.

  6. Hi - I have been helping people with this in the problems pages

Basically when you create a clock on CC.C0.UK will not work.

I think since the site became more secure.

I have emailed Laura and hopefully it will be fixed.

If you use create a new clock and get as far as pasting the code

link into your edit signature page before you review it change the

bits in the link that say .co.uk to .com - do not leave any spaces.

If you dont understand or cant do this , post which cruise you want the clock for and I will make you a link.

Thank you for this mine has disappeared as well I am going to give this a try here's hoping :):)

  7. Thanks for info.

Is that with a P&O charter flight? We usually fly abroad with different American airlines (quite often Delta) and they allow more than more piece of hand luggage plus duty free - but I had read that P&O charter flights were very strict on the way out (less so on the way back).

Our December cruise will be our first P and O charter but we have done other charters and scheduled for cruises and land based trips and can honestly say we haven't been stopped from taking a carrier bag from the duty free shops. I think it may be different if you turn up with a weeks shopping but I don't think you are planning on that :):) I'm sure you will be fine with some toiletries.

  8. All the times we have flown your duty free bag is allowed on they do not check hand luggage as you board. I have never had hand luggage weighed but I do only take a small bag and a hand bag. just usually Kindle, glasses and medication, maybe a swimsuit and flip flops and documentation. Have a great cruise.

  9. I am cruising with Thomson on the discovery. (1st time with them) but I booked the cruise as a cruise only and used my airmails to book flights with Virgin Atlantic. I was meant to spend an additional night on Barbados after the cruise but I just found out the virgin had moved my flight a day early (didn't even tell me I found out when I logged on to organised my seats). :o They have now refunded my air-miles as a way of an apology as they could see they didn't send an email to inform me of the major change. But it still make the logistics of the last day a bit more difficult.

What is the virgin beach I haven't heard of that. Any idea what happens to the cases if we use this beach.

    .

    Thanks for any help

.I believe that Virgin have set up a facility at the Accra beach which isn't too far from the port, for our cruise in December we have booked a night at the Radisson as we have an extra day in Barbados due to itinerary changes this is not with Thomsons though, hope this helps.I think they have a room where they store your luggage

  10. I had problems for about an hour on Monday but assumed it was just me being a bit dim, I use chrome much to OH's concern.:):):)

Ok so I was wrong about no problems since Monday my signature and countdown have disappeared :o

  11. We have done Fred Olsen and a few others including Thomson's would recommend Fred and we are trying P and O in December is it that you don't want to sail from Southampton but you are happy to fly or do you want a ex UK cruise? in which case I would recommend Fred their product is definitely geared to UK clientele.

  12. We are booked on the Adonia to the caribbean and have received an email stating that there may be changes to our itinerary and that they will update us as soon as the situation becomes clear which seemed to me to be the only thing that they could do at this stage. Whilst we are still keen to go on our cruise the priority must be the poor people of those islands affected. I do hope they get all the help they need to recover as soon as they can.

  13. I wanted to update with a new Count Down Clock and for the life of me can not manage it. I have managed to delete the sailed now ones. Surely it's not that difficult.

Oh yes it can be it took me about 4 attempts you have to copy and paste the code in full I think I did as a fluke in the end, good luck:):)

  14. We had a balcony cabin which I think was 8000 on the Dream on our Greek cruise last year. The cabin itself was bright and all furnishings were new. There was enough space although not huge and plenty of UK plugs and a couple of USB type ones for charging phones etc.The balcony was compact but ok just a couple of chairs and a small table on it. The general area was quiet apart from occasionally when the door opened but not enough to bother us, we enjoyed it and I think we had Clarins toiletries.Personally I would always choose to have a balcony cabin as I like to have an early morning cuppa watching the world go by enjoying peace and quiet before I join the world. Enjoy yours hope you have a fab cruise.

  15. We always do these flights in premium economy and find for us it makes the long flight bearable. I don't think we would ever do one week we have always done two as has been mentioned there is some jet lag when you arrive in the caribbean. But it is our favorite destination love the laid back way of live there.
