  1. We are just off our first Explorer cruise- great ship with a wonderful, wonderful staff! I took a lot of food pics- including the steaks you were discussing! This is the Chops filet-

And this was the steak on the menu everyday-

That Chops filet was FABULOUS- the other steak was fine- but they are definitely VERY different!! And I have to say- the filet at Portofino was also incredible- not sure which one (of Portofino's or Chops) I preferred- they were just both sooooo delicious!

  2. Hi - Explorer Fans and Fans to be! It's great a new thread was started!! :)

My family had the pleasure of sailing EOS for the April 28th - May 7th, 9 night cruise. We enjoyed the cruise, ship & ports very much. DH and I were a part of the Motorcycle Cruisers on this sailing. I anticipated writing a review with a Carnival comparison, but have not found the time while planning a HS graduation and a wedding  since returning. Yikes!

Anyway, I thought some of you may be interested in viewing my photo "review", a link for the entire trip is here:

The main album has pictures of St. Maarten & St. Thomas....everything else is in separate sub-albums. Bermuda, San Juan, Explorer OTS, Royal Family Suite #8394 balcony & views, Bridge Tour, Motorcycles & Riders, etc...

    ENJOY!

I do have the Cruise Compasses for all 9 nights and if anyone is interested, I'll make the time to scan & post them.

    Happy sailing, EVERYONE!!

    Dreaming of Floating......................................

Beautiful photos!! Can't wait to see it for myself!:D

Count me in as another one who would love to see those Cruise Compasses....thank-you!

  3. Personally, I would skip the caves. If you've seen one stalactite you've seen them all.

Horseshoe Bay is beautiful. Get there early, walk along the beach, explore the coves, swim, then rinse off and change and get back on the bus to the South Shore Swizzle Inn http://www.swizzleinn.com/ Get some Rum Swizzles and some fish sandwiches and nachos (drinking age is 18 and my son had his first legal drink here).

Go back to the ship and if there's time, walk around the dockyard, buy some rum cakes, and watch the glass blowing.

Going to the caves and Horseshoe is not a relaxing day.

Wow- thanks so much for this post- this is exactly my plan for our one (and first ever) day in Bermuda- I feel much more confident we (ok- seriously, I) made the right choices! :) Can't wait!!!!

  4. I just returned from the 9-night eastern Caribbean a week ago so here is my brief review.SAN JUAN

Because I'm having my knees replaced in September, we did the Segway tour of Old San Juan. What a fantastic tour and guide!! It was great fun zipping along on our Segways after an easy 5 minute instruction and practice. Definitely sign up for this excursion if available.

One tip if you are going snorkeling... Bring a zip-lock baggie containing slices of orange with you. The fish love it when you break off pieces in the water and (depending on the type of fish) will swarm around you. During our St. Thomas snorkel, there were times it seemed I had more fish around me than water. I would just advise you to let go of the orange piece and not hold onto it when feeding the fish because their little teeth can be sharp - which I experienced first-hand.

Hope this review was helpful. I'd be interested in reading other recent reviews to see if opinions match.

Sorry, didn't keep any copies of the Compass.

Thank-you very much for the kudos on the Segway tour- I have this booked for the 4 of us, and was hoping it would be a positive experience!!

Also love the tip about the orange- I'll have to make my DH carry the bag! ;):D

We are booked in an AFT cabin on the 10th deck (1388, I think?) and I hope the vibration can't be felt way up there!!

    Thanks-

    Ellen:)
