  1. I would ask a doctor. I am glad I did - my reason was high blood pressure that gave me the swelling. He said, not to wear anything tight on the plane.

Swelling is not a disease, it's a symptom of something, and only the doctor can determine, what.

  2. Perhaps the OPs needs to email the cruise line pre-embarkation. Let the line know that they will be on X ship on Y dates in Z cabin. Give the list and say they will require the items on the list be in the cabin when they arrive. Ask that the chief stew meet with them at the gangway and escort them to their cabin where they will inspect the cabin to ensure that their requirements have been delivered.

At my hotel, we get people like this. We call them the HMG (high maintenance guests), the PIAs, the entitled twits... They take up extra time from the staff, so other guests get shorted. Staff can only work so much and someone ends up not getting service they deserve or the staff wants to provide because another "entitled" guest demands extra...

Sorry - had an extremely horrendous hotel-full of wedding guests this past weekend - every one of the HMGs. If you looked in the dictionary for "Momzilla" (nasty Mother-of-the-Bride), this MOB's picture would have been there...

Could be Hyacinth Bucket, pronounced Bouquet :D

  3. Get your price down now if allowed by the terms of your booking, and if it goes down again before the final payment, you can do it again. Don't wait.

After the final payment, you may try to get cabin credit or upgrade, depends on the cruise line.

  4. Like others, I would recommend you throw some plastic bags in your carry on and pick up snacks in the Lido when you board. You can put them in your bags and in your in-room refrigerator. Then you'll have the snacks available for your guests when needed.

I've learned to carry zip-lock bags wherever I travel because you never know when they'll come in handy. And aboard ship I've found them very handy for saving snacks and sandwiches for late night snacks.

I agree - it's a good idea to carry plastic bags with you on any trip. As for the ship, you can put food on the plate and cover with another plate or a cloth napkin that is provided on the ship. The cabin attendant will pick the plate(s) up.

  5. My favorite subject :D It's difficult for me to get up from the regular seat, and I ordered a high seat twice.

    1) on HAL no problem, the removable seat was there, I could easily put it in and take it out (my husband complained it's not easy for him to aim)

    2) on Princess there was no seat. I had an email from Special department printed out, the cabin steward reluctantly took it, he said, to show his supervisor, and in the evening came in with the seat that should be screwed in. He asked me to try, and if I approve, he'd call maintenance to install. Knowing my husband will hate it, I refused. Had to manage through the cruise.

  6. We selected our balcony cabin, we arrived and they took it away from us.

Are you sure you selected, or you got guaranteed balcony? This looks like a guarantee, and you were reassigned.

We had no idea and went to the cabin we thought was ours, to our shock we discovered it wasn't.

I have no idea how somebody can go to the wrong cabin if you get the keys to your cabin at the check-in, did you pay any attention?

We picked this cabin because it was at the front of ship, to help me not get sea sick. The new cabin they put us in was in the back of the ship.

Actually, they tried to do you a favor. If you are sea sick, you don't want to be in front. The back of the ship is a little better, but the best is the middle of the ship.

Please let me know if you had any issues with them as well.

Read reviews, you may find what you are looking for. I hope you still managed to have good time. Happy anniversary!

  7. Hi I'm tryng to check in online

part 3 of 4 on the form . do you put an emergency contact person on ? if so why does it say something about copy information from another guest

    Am I missing something ?

Yes, always - our son. I fill out the form for myself, after that for husband - this is where I copy information from "another guest" - from me.

  8. I saw barefoot people in the elevators and around the pool. While there are no rules against it, and the crew won't say anything, I would still bring some easy-on, easy-off flip-flops.

You never know if there are cracks in your feet, and what kind of germs can get in. You cannot go barefoot to the buffet to get a drink, even water. To attend an activity, you will have to go to your cabin first, to put some shoes on.

It's just inconvenient, in my opinion, to go barefoot.

  9. You should be able to find hot chocolate powder packages in the buffet, where they keep tea bags. You put it in a cup, add hot water.

You can also buy real hot chocolate, or add the package (or 1/2 of it) to coffee to make mocha.

You can also get hot coffee, drop in some ice-cream, if they have it on your ship, and this drink is sooooo tasty!! 2 thumbs up :)

  10. We played penny slots when we could just walk over to the slut machine, put a dollar or a fiver in, and walk away. We never expected to win, we were just having fun on those interactive installments.

Now that one has to register and use that machine with almost as much knowledge as using a computer, we walk by. Which is a pity as we'd love to lose some more there, but being on a cruise ship is not about gambling for us.
