  1. We leave from Seattle to Alaska in less than 2 weeks and one of our party hasn’t yet received their passport. Agency still says processing and is of no help in letting us know when it will be ready. I called Princess and they have stated that an adult can travel with a certified birth certificate and drivers license. Has anyone done this? Did you have any issues? Also, has anyone applied for a new passport recently... if so, how long did it take to receive your passport?

we expedited in may and had it back in 10 days

  2. I'm in FL , last year I lost my license, I brought my documentation in and go my replacement the same day.

If California is the same as here in Florida the only way to get a replacement for a lost DL is to order and pay the fee online and wait for it to be mailed. You can show the payment receipt to the police as proof you are a licensed driver should you get pulled over, but you are without proof of identity/residency/age until you get the copy in the mail. No way to expedite the replacement.

Only alternative is to get an appointment at one of the emergency passport centers. Which for the OP would likely involve two six hour round trip drives to Los Angeles (one to order, the other to pick up passport a couple days later).

  3. thanks jungle jane... have the regular crutches. training gloves to protect my hands. Our Youngest Donald finished his first year of college and is now at the mythical mecca known as Philmont for the summer

looking forward to our vacation to the great white north

  4. Thank you everyone for all of the tips and advice. bring both crutches really hoping I wont need the wheel chair getting off. Most of our excursions are low activity and low walking events. The only one I will probably bow out of will be the butterfly farm in Victoria.

    Looking forward to be pampered.

  5. Thank you all for the suggestions, wont be getting the drink package. A) dont drink that much alcohol we do have the ultimate kids package though

Most likely I wont be going too far on the ship, once on board think I will find a lounger out on deck and park my self there and watch the world go by. DH and BIL will take good care of me. With any luck things will start to clear up and I can shed the crutches for a bit..

Ah the adventures and challenges of travel

  6. don't need to worry about that. We check our bags. ( i have issues with those that push the envelope with the bags that they carry on that clearly do not fit inside the little box ) besides if I do bring the green chile it has to be checked anyhow because of the size of packaginghttp://boards.cruisecritic.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

  7. Does anyone who has been on a recent Alaska cruise ( or any cruise really) know if Princess carries "Sriracha Sauce" Hubby really likes it to spice up his food. I don't mind bringing it with me but just want to know.

Already know that they have no idea of what a Green Chile is ( look it up) I will be bringing small packages with me so he can have his green chile cheeseburgers or put it on his pizza.

    Thank you in advance.

  8. We did the chefs table back in 2009. I have a tomato allergy which I told them about. I am able to pick out and around tomatoes I just cant eat a dish with tomato sauce. They were able to accommodate me.. As others have said it was one of the best meals I've had ( sorry mom who was an amazing cook)

Planning to try and do it in a few weeks.

Which leads to a question. DH's brother is joining us and we will most likely be boarding at different times ( logistics and all). Do you think they will allow whoever boards first to make the reservation for all 3 of us, or do we take our chances and have us both call when we get on?
