Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. We have been on about a dozen cruises. We really like them, I have been trying to do a comparison to do a regular guided tour to Greece and Greek Islands as opposed to a cruise. A guided tour you spend 2 or 3 days at each destination which is good. All tour companies seem to offer only a few meals and a few days on your own, or you can book excursions yourself, same as a cruise. A lot of guided tour companies include airfare which is a plus. However with the guided tour to get to the islands, it’s either another flight or a 3-5 hour ferry. I really wanted to try a guided tour to spend a little more time at each destination than a cruise gives you, But unless you spend your whole vacation at one island it seems like a hassle to get from one place to another. Has anyone else had the same indecisive predicament? saturn
  2. Does anyone know if there are roundtrip cruises from anywhere in Florida or the east coast that ports of call included Italy and Greece. Thanks for any information
  3. Thank you I think I would agree.
  4. Well I am sure about Italy we are thinking what we would like to dedicate more time to Spain or Greek Islands
  5. Cruisemom 42 Thank you for your response and your in depth research of travel ideas. I appreciate everyone’s response. We would like to visit the Western Mediterranean in 2026 for our 25th wedding anniversary, seems like it will be here before we know it. I have looked at the locations that we would be able to visit on regular guided tours vs. Cruises. On regular guided tours, the activity level on most is high, we are in our mid 60’s and even though we get around pretty good it might take a lot out of us. Regular guided tours offer only limited meals, few dinners, most breakfasts and some lunches. Cruises offer, as we all know, plenty of whatever you want and onboard entertainment. In addition, we feel that the Cruise option is more cost effective. Of the places in the Western Med, we would like to visit Italy, Greece and Spain. I understand because of distance and time visiting all three places in one trip may not be geographically possible. So if I were to choose, we would prefer to visit Italy and Greece. We have taken 4 Princess cruises and 7 cruises on either Carnival or Norwegian, so we are very familiar with them. We may want to look into another cruise line like Royal Caribbean. All in all, we are excited about this new adventure and eager to learn as much as possible to make our trip as enjoyable as possible. Do you think Italy/Greece is a better choice of destinations rather than Spain/Italy for a 14-day cruise? We’d like to get the most out of the 14 days. We don’t think we could cruise for a longer length of time. Thank you again! Saturn
  6. Places of interest would be Greek Islands, Rome, Florence and Pisa or Venice.
  7. So in relooking at my geography, Spain and Greece are pretty far away or at each end. What I am trying to do is visit Italy and Greek Isles and one other destination either by all cruise, land/sea tour, or straight land tour for our 25th Anniversary coming in 2026. Really would like to spend the time in Greek Isles and Italy, We enjoy cruising we are in our mid 60’s so long days do sometimes take a lot out of us. Trying to find the best option. any suggestions appreciated
  8. I have two questions, first I was wondering if any other cruise line does the Medallion method or something similar to what Princess does. Seems this system works very well. Second which cruise line does the best Mediterranean cruise with the ports of call being Greece, Spain and Italy Thank you in advance
  9. Looking to book a cruise for March 2023. Seems there are just a few options , but is there a certain month by when cruise lines fill there cruises for next year. And looking for a cruise that cruises through the Panama canal. Any recommendations for a cruise or cruise line would be much appreciated. Saturn
