What part of the cabin is no longer being cleaned with the removal of the second turndown?

The second “turndown” as you say is not just that. They’d clean the bathroom, wipe down shelves in the cabin, remove fingerprints off the drawer fronts and I’m sure a lot of other things.

As I stated on another thread, we were on the MG only 6 months after the restart and I could tell there was no deep cleaning.  The ship wasn’t even sailing for that long.  If the cabins were cleaned 2 x / day, then there would be less need for deep cleaning.

The next time this  happens, I will post photos instead of looking the other way.

In the meantime, this is what I’m talking about.

They don’t spend enough time in the cabins to actually focus on deep cleaning.

    $900 pp 😳.

LOL. Yeah.  I know. I was desperate.

My DH was delighted, especially since he’s not a fan of gambling or cruising.

Again, the sole reason was to eventually score an elite cruise.  🤞

If that's the case, then I am a happy camper! Are we sure of this? I guess when I check-in it should show us as Priority? I assume they would also get to join me in the Platinum lounge in Long Beach? I DEFINITELY will get my $25 in the casino and the $5 arcade credit for my kids!

    Yes. I’m sure.
Yes. You all can go in the lounge.

No. You’re not priority.   Priority is for suites.  And Weddings.  Unless you and wife booked a suite?

Only your boarding pass will say platinum.  So put yours on top when showing them to people.

You can print off your luggage tag 4 times so they say “platinum” with your name on each luggage.  I would print 2 tags for each piece myself because I am OCD.

No freeplay? Interesting...you should at least get DOU and some cabin gifts!

No free play.  🙁Just DOU in casino for me and DH who doesn’t set foot in the casino.    I’m hoping for a nice gift.

If you've never done one, I think you should try it.  The games and give aways make you feel a little special.

I’m going on an Ultra on MG in a few weeks.

No gambling money or OBC and the cabin was $900 pp for a balcony.  I booked this just because I have never received an Ultra offer.  I hope I don’t regret this.  🫣.  My hope was to receive an Elite offer sometime.

Unfotunately my kids don't have my same VIFP level so if I don't book myself in their room the rates go up quite a bit. Catch-22!

Oh well, I was also turning platinum on this cruise but my wife is 1 week behind in points so I won't get to enjoy priority boarding either as I won't get on without the rest of the family (my youngest daughter could go with me, though!). Another perk I lose...booo!

If you’re turning plat on this cruise, your entire family boards with you, regardless of whether they’re in a separate room.

I was Plat way before my family. Carnival told me “we are not in the business of splitting up families”  so have them with you.

Enjoy and don’t forget to get your $25 from the casino.😁

We booked a cruise with 2 rooms on the Carnival Panorama and sinc we have minor 2 kids we had to book myself in the first room, and my wife in the other.

Just because your kids are minors doesn’t mean they can’t have their own room.

They do have to be within a certain number of doors of yours though.

We’ve always put our boys in a separate room.

  8. I’ve used the same plastic slinky cord they used to hand out free at the casino. It looks cheap but it’s so light that I barely notice it.

I started using a lanyard when I began leaving my card in the slots in the casino. 😂

What will happen is you'll be able to access your room as soon as you board. I've been in a suite and know that to be the case- same for FTTF. Also as Platinum or Diamond you can access your room to drop off your carry on upon boarding although your room as a whole may not be completely ready. Again, that's from experience on NYE.

If you’re in a suite, you can access it prior to 1:30 and STAY IN IT.

P and Ds just drop luggage and leave.

Every PVP I have had since him has been sub-par, so I just book myself or use a travel agent.

You could always try calling and ask for a supervisor and then have them get you a PVP with 5 or 10 years’ experience.

Seems like I have to do that a lot these days, whether it’s a vet, a realtor, whatever.  I’m tired of dealing with people who know less than I do when I’m paying for things.

Or that may be more work than you want to put into it 🙂

So do you just have to make the deposit with them and they you can pay out your cruise however you want?  I have never had a PVP either

Yes.  Even though you use a PVP, you still have control over your reservation.  The trick is to get a good PVP, which we’re not allowed to talk about here.

As I said, my PVP has been with Carnival since 1998 and her title is elite something.  I was sailing with Carnival for about 3 or 4 years when she just answered the 800 phone number one day back in 2012 🤷‍♀️.

But it doesn't always end there. If a better room opens up, I can text her and she changes the room for me.

This is exactly what I did.  I had a casino offer and when I went to put it on hold, the only interior cabin available was a family harbor in the bottom of the ship.

My PVP said “Why did you put that one on hold? That’s for families.”

I said “that was all there was.”

She found me a cabin midship on level 9 for the same price.

We literally spent 15 minutes trying to find a suitable spot for me.

Normally, she would just change the hold to a booking.

IMO, this new change will be counterproductive for Carnival, as PVPs will be spending more time  on the phone with REPEAT guests,   giving them less time making bookings with NEW customers.

My only concern with that is if the PVP isn’t immediately available

    Exactly.
I have my PVP’s cell # for that very reason.

There’s very little chance I would book without going through my PVP as the way Carnival runs its business, I need a PVP in my corner.

We’re booked on Royal this year and I don’t have that safety net and I’m not liking it.

  14. After the end of this month (Feb ‘23), PVPs will no longer be given “credit” for cruises put on the 48-hour hold by a guest.

If you find a cruise you wish to book, you must contact your PVP first.

Whether your PVP needs to put it on hold while you get your travel companions the info or whether you’ll need to purchase the cruise at that moment, is unknown.

This really stinks because it makes things easier for me as well as my PVP.

    😒

Last March,2022, I paid 359.99 for regular cabana on HMC. It's priced at 499.99 for my upcoming November cruise. I think I'll skip this one. Can't justify that for 2 people. An extra 50, I may have. I realize prices are rising, but 140 extra. a clam shell and a float will suit me fine.

😞 Ugh.  I was wondering about this.

That’s going to really hard to justify as we pay that for 2 people as well.

In fact, we only use it until 2 o’clock usually.

I would just like to point out that it makes ZERO difference whether it was a suite or not. Just because you have larger accommodations does not mean your space deserves to be cleaner. The fact is, no guest should need to let that sort of thing slide, regardless of whether you are in the Owners Suite or in an inside cabin on level 1. 🙂

Yikes!  LOL.  I was merely pointing out that it was a suite as these supposedly have the more experienced room attendants.

I’ve had interior cabins across the hall from the suites and they sometimes share the same room attendants and I have actually found that to be true.
