  1. My friend has not purchased Wi-Fi on Luminosa.   I did.

We’ve texted the past few days. She’s been on airplane mode the entire time.

Today, ATT texted her and said they are turning off her data service in US and international because she has incurred over $100.
    😳

Has anyone run into this before?

  2. There was no one  to ask in the casino.  The Hub app just said after sail away.

Elsewhere, nobody seemed to know.  My answers were “soon” or

    ”not sure” or

something like that. I finally got an answer from someone at a bar who said between 8-9 pm.

A thousand pardons for inquiring if anyone  else on CC has sailed Luminosa before.   Geez.

Ah, ok.  We just got off Luminosa.  It was ok.  Not a fan of the layout but had a good cruise.  Crew was very good.

Burger place was almost exactly like guys without the donkey sauce or Chipotle Mayo.

Burrito place seemed exactly like Blue Iguana.

no JiJi’s but did have an Asian buffet everyday that had good choices.

we had plenty of ice stacked daily in our cabin.

    Oh really?!

    Thats good!

So glad you’re telling me this because I was reading a lot of negative reviews.

I’m more of a Caribbean girl, so Alaska was not even on my dance card.  I’m looking forward to it now.

Why?  Thought it said fleet wide.

    Because Luminosa has nothing.

    No guys burgers

    No jijis

    No blue iguana

    And apparently little ice.

    Just going by the reviews.

I booked this without reading up on it.  The CC reviews rate it as “poor”.   😳

I will see in about 2 weeks.

  5. Wow. OP here.  I can’t believe my biscuits and gravy thread has risen from the dead.

As it turns out, someone must have just been a newbie cooking B&G — as the rest of the week it was the same normal runny gravy they always have.

The day I posted this it was completely inedible.

I usually have it on wheat toast as the biscuits are always inedible.

Most likely just the two twin beds though

That’s what I’m hoping for.  I’m going with my friend not DH on this one.

Last time the beds were pushed together so I sent a photo to my husband and said “Hon, there’s been something I’ve been needing to tell you …. “

    🙂

  7. We are less than 30 days out and have an interior cabin on Luminosa.

1).  I understand that our cabin may not be assigned until we get to the pier.

Should I still print my luggage tags? How will the luggage people know where to deliver our bags if there’s no cabin number?

2). I’m hoping our interior cabin is not bunk beds.  It will be a challenge to get up there.  Does anyone have experience with this?  Have you ever been assigned a bunk bed?

    TIA.

  8. I need shade too and the clamshells are too stuffy IMO.

Down by cabana 10 where the restroom is, there are shade trees.   But you have to walk it.  Tram is only for cabana people on the way.

Going back, you can try sticking out your thumb and the tram will pick you up.  I tip a few dollars.

  9. I didn’t know you could get on a waitlist.

Sometimes when I am interested in a particular cruise that is completely booked, I check several times a day to see if something opens up.

Sometimes a cabin will open up and then within a few hours it’s gone because someone grabbed it.

  10. I have not had a cabana at princess cay but I have had one at half moon cay.

I usually tip a few dollars to the person who brings the towels, cokes, snacks.  It is usually stupid hot and they are working really hard to drop off everything.

    I don’t think it’s expected.

No porters to take your bags. You need to find a porter and hope that its the right one.

Yikes!   This is the second time I’ve heard this.  The first time was a YouTube video regarding the inaugural sailing on Carnival Luminosa.
I am sailing on the ship in about 30 days.

There is no way in  Sam Hill that I can haul all my luggage up the ramp.  I’m not even sure I could lift it into this bin they’re talking about.

Therefore, I contacted Carnival and asked to be put in the special assistance boarding.  The guy said no.  He said all you do is put your baggage in the bin. I am not the first person to ask him this question he said.  When I pointed out who is going to watch over my bag until it gets on the ship, he did not know, as that is not Carnival’s problem.  Nice.

He then said I need to call Port of Seattle.  I did.  After being transferred to the cruise terminal, I spoke with a nice lady, who insisted that there should be some longshoreman there accepting  baggage and putting it in the bins for you.  I told her about the YouTube video and the multiple accounts here on cruise critic about nobody to help you put your bag on the ship.  She found this very interesting, and she was going to check it out.  She wants me to call her back after my cruise to see if there was someone there.  😂

  12. Because when you go to book, the tour companies ask if you’re on a cruise ship.

Some tour companies won’t book you privately because they have a deal or contract with the cruise line to book hundreds of people that way and the cruise lines forbid them to book.

Alaska must be different.  I’m going to try it.

  13. Carnival has this tour for about $200 a person.

I found it on the Internet for $149 a person and includes pick up and drop off from the cruise port.

According to the company, Carnival allows this.

In the Caribbean, if Carnival has a tour listed, and you try to go through them as a private person, Carnival will not allow it, so the tour operator will not be able to accommodate you. You must go through the cruise line to get the tour.

has anyone done this tour  before on your own?

  14. Ultra is not that great IMO.  I booked one just to see if it would help my chances of getting an Elite offer.   Nothing yet.  That was several months ago.

If you want to see my thoughts about Ultra on MG, I posted what gifts, party etc.

I thought the Get Away offers are better.  But that was pre-Covid, so who knows.
