  1. Hi we are looking for transportation from the San Basilo pier to the Marco Polo Airport we have looked at Shuttle direct any one use them and/ or know if they are good???

Any information would help. As it does not look like we could do the people mover to Piazza Roma from this pier very easily.

    Thanks

  2. I believe it is still 7 euro per single ticket.

If you buy a pass (e.g., for 24 hours) you can save significantly but only if you plan to use the vaporetto several times. I don't know if you are just arriving in Venice that morning, but if you have an overnight there it's something to consider.

Perfect thanks. We arrive in Venice on the Cruise ship we have an overnight here then disembark the next day to go home.

  3. It could not be easier to get from San Basilio to Piazzale Roma. Much easier than from Marittima.

Right next to the San Basilio pier building, just across a small wooden bridge, there is a vaporetto stop where you can board the #2 vaporetto to Piazzale Roma. (This vaporetto also continues to the train station, for anyone looking to board a train, which is what I did.)

From Piazzale Roma you can take the express bus (with luggage storage beneath) to the airport.

Thanks Cruisemom do you know the cost of the vaporetto by chance?

  4. Can anyone help with information on how to get to the Venice airport from the San Basillio Pier. Can you get to the people mover then to the Piazza Roma or is that very far. We docked at the Maritima Pier the only other time I was in Venice, it was a bit of a walk but doable to the People mover but I have no Idea where the Basillio pier is located. Or is just better to do the cruise line transfer.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

  5. Hi Funtoocruise ~ do me a favor and post this question on its own thread, with a Title relevant to your question(s). I am confident you'll have a bevy of responses from our long-time club members before I can get back to you with a thorough response.

I say this because this thread is entitled "Website Questions for Bonnie" which I suspect most people skip over. If you mention 'booking tours' and or 'shuttles in Venice', you'll find people willing to share their experiences.

    Tks!

(p.s. yes, I am somewhat kicking the can down the road, but don't worry I'll respond soon.)

Its Ok I spoke with a rep at Azamara and they said that you have up to 24 hours to cancel an excursion with out penalty. No Reply yet on the Shuttles in Venice he didn't know and was suppose to email me a response no word yet

    Thanks

  6. You are comparing apples to kumquats. You can certainly hire a taxi at the port (for a very inflated price) who will take you wherever you want to go for the day. But assuming you want to visit Ephesus (every first time or even 2nd time visitor should go to Ephesus) the taxi will drop you at the entrance and then wait for you at the lower exit (over 1 1/2 hours later) for a nice fee. But the taxi driver is not a guide so you will either have to go through Ephesus on your own (we do not recommend this for a first time visitor) or pay to join some kind of tour at the entrance.

So, instead of going through this hassle it just makes sense to book a private tour (online) before your visit. Like the taxi, the tour driver will take you around the area and wait at Ephesus. But unlike the taxi driver, your tour will have a professional guide who will take you through the ruins and to wherever else is included on your tour.

Those who have read my posts over the years know that I am very anti-tour and prefer to DIY everywhere in the world. We have been to Ephesus on a cruise line (princess), on our own (using the local van/buses to get to within a mile of the ruins), with a private guide (arranged through Ekol) and on our own with a rental car! But for a first time visitor we think that nothing can beat a private excursion (arranged in advance online) with a reputable local company (i.e. Ekol, Ephesus Deluxe, etc).

Regarding Ekol (mentioned in a previous post) DW and I booked a private guide for the two of us for our 4th visit to the ruins. Our guide met us at the port, and we had a nice clean large van, English speaking driver, and very professional (2 degrees) guide. And this was just for the 2 of us. The total cost for our tour, driver, van, etc. was actually less then the tours offered by the cruise line. And since this was a very private tour, we called the shots, decided to spend more time at the ruins, where to go afterwards. etc.

Have you used Ephesus Deluxe? Do they do a good tour, I saw there webpage and it says they go to the Terrace houses as well as the other must sees. I'm wondering if they do? Someone on our roll call said these discount tour companies don't actually go there. Can you help?

  7. Since you were so good at answering my last question I wondered if you could help me again.

How does it work with the Shore excursions (land discoveries) I want to book one now online but I'm worried that if we want to change it or say we find out onboard that the weather won't be nice that day so we decide to cancel how does that work with cancellation fees etc. ?

Also I have been to Venice before with Princess and they offered us an unlimited use Vaparetto ( I believe that's what they're called) pass for $15 US

for the day. Does Azamara offer something like this or do they dock walking distance to St. Marks square??

    Thanks Dorsey

  8. I also had the same questions so thank you for posing them and thank you to all who have answered. THis is our first Azamara cruise as well so any info is greatly appreciated. I like your son have dietary issues and also hate making a fuss and usually just stick to what I know but sometimes things are prepared different or you'd like to try something new. So thank you

  9. Hi I've never cruised with Azamara but have cruised often. I just have a question about shuttles in port. Does Azamara provide complimentary (or even paid) shuttles to take passengers from the port to town or the tender port to town, i.e. in Dubrovnik, Corfu etc.

We are booked on a cruise in August and I'm trying to figure out transportation for some of the ports. I read on the one thread that some cruise lines provide transportation and I wondered if Azamara would?

Any information would be great. Thanks

  10. i would see if 4277 or 2450 is available (way bigger room) and under cabin space and away from the grey area which is under you now.

and if they are notavailable I would move closer to the elevator

Thanks for the advice we moved but now we're at the front R1229 and it's a triple room so they said they could move us if someone needs a triple and that they can move us anywhere:eek:

    I hope I did the right thing.

  11. The day pass fee is entrance to the beach and pools, towels, restrooms, maintained beach, snorkeling gear and non-motorized water sports.. it also includes lifeguards and security

Thank you for all your great information. I was talking to our daughter who is 22 even though we are only in Nassau until 1:30 she really wants to go to Atlantis and go on the water slide that passes through the shark tank.

Are there any cheaper tickets to do a half day pass or water park only pass?

Again thank you for your replies.

  12. Weather should be fine..just keep an eye on things.. since it's hurricane season.

Good beach - Sheraton Hotel ($25pp) or public beach at Junkanoo or Cabbage Beach (although Cabbage can be rough as the hurricane season progresses).

Best snorkeling is with Stuart Cove www.stuartcove.com If timing doesn't permit.. then snorkling with www.seahorsesailingadventures.com or www.flyingcloud.info would be great.

Thank you for the snorkel information. The $25 for the Sheraton is that just for an entrance fee or what do you get for that?

    Dorsey

We are going to Nassau at the end of October and were wondering how the weather would be. Also thanks for all the great info, I guess we'll be crossing Atlantis off our lis.

We're also wondering about a good beach or good snorkeling if you have any info it would be greatly appreciated.

  14. We were just assigned E410 on Ruby Princess. It says the cabin is obstructed view, however, according to the deck plans, we do not see an obstruction. E412 next to us is listed as oceanview and is not obstructed. Does anyone have any ideas what the obstruction would be if it doesn't show a life boat in front of the window?

I was assigned that cabin for June and checked into it and it is totally obstructed. The diagramn doesn't show it but there is a big white box that holds some kind of equipment in it and it does totally obstruct your view.

    Hope this helps

  15. I just checked the Emerald Princess deck plans and it does show the location of those big white boxes outside of E407, 408, 409 and 410. Also aft E705, 706, 707 and 708. The locations should be the same on the Crown and the Ruby Princess. Hope this info helps.

Thanks I checked with my TA he confirmed yes it is right outside E410 my cabin so thanks to everyone who made me aware I have switched cabins.:oHere's hoping the new one is better.
