What can I use FCC  for beside booking a new cruise?  We have a replacement cruise booked Feb 24-March 1 2021 for our  other cancelled cruise. I have $216.00 FCC leftover. DH does not want to go on another cruise.  Can I use it on the ship somehow?  What would I use it for?

Is it regular or Bonus FCC?

Any bonus FCC amount is applied only to the voyage fare.

The original, full value FCC can be applied and used for the following:

    • Voyage Fare
    • NCFs
    • Government Fees and Taxes
    • Pre-paid service charges
    • Beverage or dining gratuities (if part of the Free At Sea promotion selection)
    • Air purchased through Norwegian Cruise Line
    • Hotel purchased through Norwegian Cruise Line
    • Cruise tours purchased through Norwegian Cruise Line
    • Pre-booked and pre-paid shore excursions
    • Transfers
    • Essentials, Booksafe Standard or Platinum Travel Protection insurance (if purchased on the original suspended reservation)

Link for what?  There are cruise line training centers in the Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, and India, owned/supported by all the major lines.  The number of cruise line crew is about 250,000 for all ships, representing about 180-190,000 onboard positions, and the remainder being those on vacation.

How do you know this data?

They Can't give us a real date, the cdc has not given clear guidelines on how to restart.  if during normal times, i think thats fine to not refund fcc to cash.  But with holding money from us for months interest free, someone should step in and mandate they refund to original form of payment.  especially when they keep the expire date from the original fcc, and there is no telling when they can or will sail again.  The danger of them going under totally in a years time.

It was not interest free.  They gave you 25% on your investment.  Not a bad return

Please don`t forget that the number of jobs in the cruise industry is limited. Thats why many cruise lines have training centres in the asian countries to find the best possible crew members. So there are a lot more people applying for a job than the cruise lines can take.

    Link?

Just like those unemployed due to covid in the US, crew are waiting for their jobs to return.  The difficulty is getting crew travel arrangements, given all the various countries' restrictions.  My guess is that charter flights like TUI and Aida used to get their crew to the ships will be the primary means of crewing.

So does that mean 5 days, 30 days???

I will not give NCL any 'new' money , but I have no problem using a next cruise to book something for the future and wait this out. As budgetqueen said, there is nothing to lose until it's time to make final payment (and I'll lose my next cruise with any restructuring anyway). Personally, I intent to wait to apply my next cruise until just before it expires (December), and then I will book something as far out as possible. If cruising opens early than I expect, I'll pick something up last minute. No one knows when cruising will open, but I'm betting on Q2 of 2021 and making my plans accordingly. If cruising opens in January there will be amazing deals to be had by waiting until last minute to purchase. For the life of me, I can't find a single advantage to booking something for Q4 of 2020 or Q1 of 2021 unless you are the type of person that just feels better having something on the books.

lol... I lean conservative with my finances, this is true :).  I notice you have four cruises planned between now and Feb 2021. Out of curiosity, do you mind sharing your thought process for those bookings?  What advantage did you gain? Were these 'new' cash bookings or FCC (which would make a difference imo).  I might be a scardy-cat, but some might call you unrealistically optimistic (not that either is bad).

They are a combination.  I had two cruises booked on NCL (casino comps but you still pay for some stuff).  I took the FCC and bonus FCC of 25 % and booked two cruises (Aug & Sept) with some FCC left over.  I then booked December and July 2021 after round 2 were cancelled and FCC returned to me.

My two carnival cruises are also casino comps (even though I had not sailed them in quite some time).

So my situation is a little different than the average cruise critic member.

And yes I am optimistic and really hope my December cruise happens as I rarely can take two weeks off in a row.

How many canceled cruises-  did you have,  to have that many FCC?   It may be some are Cruise Next deposits?      I thought I was bad=  with 8- NCL canceled cruises,  plus,  1 I used the Peace of Mind promotion.   🙂      I have 3 more cruises booked this year,  that I fully expect to be added to the list.  🙂

4 cruises cancelled so far and I had cruisenext also but they were returned and then put on my next cruise (if it happens)

  8. So finally after 6 emails to casinoinquiries@ncl.com the supervisor fixed my account.  He said it was there all along but I don't believe it cause it magically appeared yesterday , 30 days after it was supposed to be on my account.  All of my 25% bonus used on my rebooked cruises that were canceled has been returned to my account. .

I now have 21 different certificate numbers in my account to apply to future cruises, but at least I have all the numbers and amounts

Same here. Still thoroughly disappointed in the lack of transparency. I can deal with we're overwhelmed and busy, but this run around and misinformation is not ok with me.

Exactly I just want a contact person

Could you explain that? My understanding from others is that you have to book online once the 120 day window starts or you risk not being able to get a table. Are you saying they're doing away with that? Thanks. Love your handle, BTW.

My understanding is that yes they have currently suspended that process.  Mainly because they do not know if dining areas have special rules like 25% capacity versus the ship can sail at 50% capacity.  If too many make reservations for a particular restaurant that puts them out of compliance then what do they do.  So for the time being no advance reservations may be made.  Everyone would be on equal footing theoretically when they get on the ship.

No under the old method they did not book 100% of the time slots in advance online anyhow.  I don't know the % held back but you could still get reservations on board and even potentially during the cruise on the day of, etc.

Of course summer cruises sailing full on mega ships were more difficult then low season but going forward who knows what will be high and low season LOL
