  1. We always go to the steakhouse twice during our cruise. The lobster ravioli is fantastic! It seems to me that the 50% off a bottle of wine happens on random nights. That is a great time to try a bottle of wine that you wouldn't normally buy.

  2. We paid $2,600 each for our suite, including pre paid gratuities and vacation protection.

We booked in February this year for February 2017. When I called my PVP, I quickly learned that if I really wanted that suite (and we did) I didn't really have a choice in date or itinerary. That didn't matter as, for the first time, we are cruising more for the ship than itinerary.

If you really want that suite, I would suggest you keep looking and then when the new dates become available, book it.

I am talking about one of the four Havana Suites, by the way.

We are so excited for this cruise!

  3. June 2017 sailings are not out yet, so you won't be able to price them until you have the itinerary and dates. Maybe someone with one of the suites will share what they paid for a cruise in Feb or March 2017 so you have an idea, but it will be dependent on the itinerary as well, of course.

  4. We were in the steakhouse one evening and when they asked about dessert we confess we were going to go downstairs to the MDR for an alternative dessert. They insisted on serving it to us in the steakhouse. We were very grateful for their kindness.

They are always very accommodating in the steakhouse!

  5. We have always found the MDR to be hit and miss. The Steakhouse and La Cucina are excellent. We are booked on the Vista in February 2015 and I am looking forward to the Seafood Shack.

So far we have only sailed on Carnival (10 cruises sailed) so we can't compare. We do have a Hawaiian cruise with NCL booked for January 2016 and I have not heard great things about their food. I'm looking forward to being able to compare fairly.

  6. Call customer service. It should be on your file if they were calling about an up sell. It may or may not still be available. This happened to me in February and when I called back I was given the upgrade from an Ocean Suite to a Grand Suite. It was still available so we took it! [emoji1]

  7. I enjoy talking on roll calls so I don't drive my family and friends crazy with my cruise talk. I like seeing what everyone has planned and discussing what to do. But I don't go to meet and greets. My husband is not social and does not like going so we don't.

    You could be me! [emoji1]

  8. Is the Steakhouse really that nice? I have never been there before. I just want to make this moment perfect. Cruise is paid for, ring is paid for, now just waiting for the moment.

Yes, the steakhouse really is that nice! We love it and go at least twice on a seven night cruise. There is more than just steak-the lobster ravioli is just wonderful! The entire experience is great. Just call the steakhouse once you are on board and they will get you a great table and help things along. I know they will! [emoji4]

  9. Let me ask you this, I plan on proposing to my girlfriend at sunset on embarkation day. Would you recommend celebrating in the steakhouse or in the MDR, regardless of the wine deal?

I would go to the steakhouse to propose. Let them know your plans and I'm sure you will get the best table in the house! The staff is fantastic!

    Have a great time!

  10. My husband loves to listen to music in the late afternoon while gazing out in the distance. I sit beside him and read. It isn't loud at all, but when he notices movement on either side of our balcony, he puts his headphones on. Last cruise (two weeks ago) he brought a new little Bose Bluetooth player that he just loves!

  11. I'm shaking my head at what some people are saying on here! To each one of you that think what happened is ok and the $50.00 is fair, will it be OK if the next cruise YOU go on and YOUR luggage and belonging are ruined, that you get $50.00?? NO, it won't be! I would almost bet that each one of you would be ticked off and would want the money to replace your items. I know when I put my luggage outside my room, at no time do I expect it to dropped in the ocean!! REALLY??!!

I traveled to Miami last year, on Delta, and my luggage went on with all wheel and one of them came off with only one wheel. Was that my fault... NO, but guess who had to buy a new suitcase @ $120.00 in order to get back home....ME!

I just think it's wrong for these businesses to feel like the consumer should have to feel the pain for something that happened on their clock!

I hate this happened to you! :(

This was my point earlier, although poorly made. I would certainly hope that Carnival would do something for you, if for no other reason than for customer retention, but if they don't, then insurance would hopefully take over. The $50 limit by Carnival is ridiculous but I'm sure (hopeful?) that they will look at some claims on a case to case basis.

The broken wine bottle, iPad and other items are only a by the by thing in all this. The suitcase SHOULD NOT have fallen Into the water in the first place!

I hope this can be resolved for you in a satisfactory way.

  12. I think most people are missing something here. The bag was dropped into the ocean! Whoever was offloading the luggage wasn't careful. As for the wine being in the luggage, well, it has to be in checked bags to board a plane. Why on earth not mention that! Call Carnival and hopefully they will do something, otherwise call the insurance company and tell them everything.

  13. From my understanding, the exemption will only apply to licensed U.S. travelers to Cuba. In other words, you will have to actually legally travel to Cuba and buy the cigars there.

That changed as of today, I think...

  14. Sorry, I don't mean to turn this into a coffee review, but I have found the room service coffee to be much better than the Lido coffee. That is just dirty dishwater. Awful!

The room service coffee will give me my fix and then I can go the cafe after breakfast if I still feel the need for more caffeine.

  15. I called Carnival just yesterday about the very same thing.

The post cruise excursions don't really interest us...we have been to San Juan on a number of occasions and we have already done all the tours. I asked if there was a place at the post to store our luggage until it was time to head to the airport as we, too, have a later flight. The person who answered didn't seem to understand my question. I'm not sure if that was because part time staff answers the phone on Sundays. I am going to try again today (Monday).

If we aren't able to store our luggage at the port, I imagine we will have to take a tour. Lugging our bags through the streets isn't appealing to us.
