  1. I remover seeing somewhere that P&O has taken out a patent(forgive me if patent is the wrong phraseology) on the name Iona. There was a post somewhere that showed that was done last year sometime!?!? :-) not sure if that has aaaany correlation to the project. :-)

  2. We're on the same cruise as you its our first cruise. Can't answer your question, I'm booking excursions at the moment

Aw great. I hope you really enjoy it. I've been hooked on cruises since my early 20's but first time on Arcadia. It's so relaxing and a great holiday. Norways stunning too. My third time up there on a cruise. We're only doing one excursion so far, the railway one at Flåm. Can't wait.. and started looking out my clothes tonight. I'm keen. Haha

  3. I tried to find out before our Arcadia cruise in June and couldn't find any mention of speakers. I hoped for a Scandinavian/Baltic slant and there was a round the world yatchsman and a mysterious ex counter espionage speaker who , of course ,wouldn't say exactly what he used to do. He was very entertaining.

I was on the QE last year and that sounds like the same speakers we had. There was an espionage guy and Robin Knox Johnson the yachtsman, both very interesting,, If it is the same ones I want their life going on lots of cruises. Haha. Oh well, will just need to wait and see,, thanks for your reply,, [emoji3]

  4. Hi there.

I'm off on a lovely trip on the Arcadia on July 30th to Norway and was wondering if p&o have guest speakers that they announce before the trip? I've looked with no luck so far, and wondered if I'm either not looking in the right places or it's something they don't do. Any help is much appreciated.

  5. Hi there.

I am thinking of booking one of the obstructed ocean view rooms behind the lifeboats on Arcadia.

Does anyone have experience of these rooms, and any pictures at all?

I wonder how much light is let in, and just how obstructed they are? I understand it does depend if the room is directly behind or in between a lifeboat that will make a difference.

Thank you so much in advance..

  6. Thanks so much everyone. I have attached the labels and will see how I get on tomorrow morning. Will ask when we get there.

Bell boy. I have those doubts too. But my back sadly (reeeeaally bad timing) is not too good. And I'd prefer creases over pain or danger of making it worse at the beginning of my wee adventure. :-). Haha. Can get em straightened out onboard worst case scenario!!

Thanks again everyone. Very helpful. :-).

  7. Does anyone know if you can hand in suit carriers with your main luggage at embarkation?!

I'm traveling with my parents on the QE tomorrow and have hurt my back so am finding it hard to carry them. We have too much stuff for my dad to be able to handle it and my mum also has back issues.

    Thanks so much.

    :-)

  8. We had one on the Elizabeth's maiden. First time with a metal fronted balcony and we really liked it. You could juuuuuust see over when sitting down but it was nice and open otherwise and I wouldn't hesitate at having one again. It didn't bother me having the metal playing there. :-)

  9. Thank you so much again everyone.

Very helpful tips for arrival and the perks on board. Am very excited now. :-)

My mum was a tad miffed about the cocktail party. Haha. But she'll be thrilled that I can take her along. Am sure she won't need to fight it out with my dad over who else goes as he would be quite happy seeing us at the dinning room and having an hour or so to himself haha :-)

  10. Hey

Thank you both so much for the replies.

We will be arriving together. I've been teasing mum and dad saying I'd ditch them as I've earned my right to express check in with my platinum status and they'd have to wait they're turn. I'm very cruel. Lol. ;-). Funny thing is, I totally would. The best thing would be if our balcony faced the departure lounge so I could wave at them from the balcony glass in hand!!!! Karma will bite me back I'm sure. Hehe. But that's amazing if we can all go on board right away.

Very excited about the trip. Just got home and the tickets have arrived today. Woohoooo. :-)

  11. I am travelling with my parents on the Queen Elizabeth around mid May and it is my first voyage as a platinum member, but my mum and dad are both still gold members.

Do we have to board together as we are sharing a room? We were advised by one rep over the phone that I would have to!

As a joke I've been saying I'm gonna ditch them in the terminal and warm up the champagne bar for them till they get to board. You could probably guess my mothers reaction to that. ;-).

I was just wondering how it works with the different levels for boarding.

Thanks so much in advance. :-)

  12. I agree.

I would never grumble at the captains decision to keep the ship and all its inhabitants safe.. Its a no brainer...

I was on the Queen Victoria's cruise to Norway and Iceland in june/july this year, and we missed the faroe islands due to a strong weather front that brought high winds.. It was THE stop i'd been looking forward to the most on the trip for over a year..... sigh lol

They first alerted us to the possibility of not getting into port the day before then made an announcement on the day of the "call" to inform us of why they decided not to go into port.. Ie safety would have been compromised due to prevailing winds.

The crew did their best to scramble together a programme of entertainment etc and we had a lovely day bouncing about on the sea...

Those complaining, even though I understand the disappointment, need to look at the bigger picture I think..

    :) :)

  13. Im off on that cruise to.. All packed and ready to go... Very excited.. I'm planning on doing a full photo review and journal of the cruise that I can post up.

Am teaching myself how to build a website, so I'll put it all on there after.. :)

Soooo excited to see norway and Iceland. Its been a lifelong dream to go to iceland.

Hope you have a great time as well cruachan.

    fraser :)

  14. I'm booked into 7035 for 2 weeks on sunday for the trip to Norway and Iceland.

it was Pepperrn's pics (thank you pepperrn) that I saw just prior to booking that sealed the deal.. The extra space on the Balcony and stateroom really appeal.

Im sharing with my Mum and dad(I'm 34, they're early 60's, aaaghh help me)

I will report back with pics once I'm back home on the 8th of july.. :)

Here's a vid of 8033 on the queen elizabeth i found on youtube.
  15. Hi there.

I am sharing a room with my parents on board the Queen Victoria at the end of June this year for 2 weeks, and i'm 33..... HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

I was wondering if anyone has experience of using the sofa beds in the Britannia staterooms? Are they comfortable enough? Could you still squeeze past the sofa bed when it was made up for the night?

    Thanks so much..

    Fraser :)
