  1. Also departure airport.

The Extend Your Stay profram is only available on European cruises, you can stay onboard upto 90 minutes before departure. Costs $59 per person, also includes some other perks.

Question - this is only Europe? Not South America? Just checking, since our flight does not leave until around 7:30 pm. We will try to find a tour or something, but hate just sitting around at the airport.

  2. In case you missed this: (video)

Thank you! Yes, i did see the video, but it doesn't show you which cabins this is in front of. I don't want to be in a cabin where this is gliding up and down in front of my balcony. That's why i was trying to get a better idea of exactly where it was located.

    Thanks again!

  3. We don't have enough time in port to see both Dzibanche and Kohunlich, unfortunately. Is Kohunlich alone better than Chacchoben in your estimation? What are the appreciable differences?

We are headed Dec 2017 to Costa Maya, and would also love an answer to this question! Can't decide between Chacchoben or Kohunlich. We are in port 8am - 5pm, so have a bit of time. I know Kohunlich is further. We don't like large crowds though, so are considering Kohunlich. We also don't like long bus rides, so truly need some advice. Would love a response from a knowledgeable person!

  4. Can I jump in? What would recommend within comfortable walking distance from the cruise port? I'm interested in visiting the Victor Hugo house and heritage sweet shop which I understand is nearby. Not sure if it would be a short but steep walk? Have you a recommendation for a cream tea?

    Thanks

You will need reservations in advance for the Victor Hugo house. It is up a very steep street - not easily accessible if you have any mobility issues, and not well marked. We got a bit lost and had to ask several people along the way. Walking down is also difficult for knees. It is a great house to see however!

  5. We did an aft balcony on the Panama Canal cruise on Infinity, and it was the best decision!! When we entered the canal, my husband was up on deck, but i stayed in bed with a hot coffee, looked out the balcony window at the bridge behind me, and at the ship entering the locks on the tv. It was perfect to have both views at the same time! As we were leaving the locks, every aft balcony had people out on them. It was like a party! SOOO recommend having that on this cruise! Have a great time!

  6. We took this tour last July (14). The bus picked us up at the hotel that Avalon uses in Paris, about 1pm. We went directly to the Eiffel Tower. We avoided any lines, which is a plus for taking a tour with a group. We went to the 2nd level which is where most tours go. To get to the very top, you need another ticket and must take another elevator. We did NOT go underneath the tower. We had plenty of time for viewing and pix - then descended and walked around the base of the tower, with time for more pix and some shopping. From there, the bus took us directly to the boat, arriving around 4:30.

Thanks! One more question for you - was this a guided tour? Did they talk about the history, and point out some of the famous sites?

  7. Hi! Has anyone taken Avalon's tour of the Eiffel Tower the day of embarkation? I would like to know what exactly you saw on the Avalon tour, and if they took you down underneath. My husband is an engineer, and really wants to explore it. I am torn on scheduling this myself or taking theirs. It would be easiest to take their tour, but might not be as complete? Thanks!!

  8. Hi! I am curious about the cost of a martini on board the ship at the lounge? I love a good cold one before dinner, especially when I've been out touring all day. We will be on Avalon - Paris to Normandy this spring.
I am a wine drinker as well, so I am happy we get that at dinner.
    Thank you!!
  9. Thanks everyone. Our issue is that we already pre purchased the airport transfers through Avalon. I don't know if we can cancel them or not, but I thought if they are to the same hotel, they might honor them? Although, it's a day early. If not, we may find a different hotel to stay in for the one night. We will speak to our TA soon, and she may have some ideas as well. Thanks again!

  10. We are staying a night before the cruise in Paris. If we stay at the same hotel that Avalon uses for their pre cruise package, but don't purchase the package, will the airport transfer take us to that hotel? Or will we have an issue?

We wanted to stay at the same hotel, because some friends are staying there (bought the pre cruise package), and we wanted to stay at the same place. I looked the hotel up online, and we can pay almost half of what the cruise line is charging. Any and all suggestions are welcomed!

    Thanks everyone!!!

  11. Hi everyone! We have narrowed our spreadsheet down to two companies for a Seine River Cruise - Avalon or Uniworld. Several questions that I can't find answers for.

    1. The room size difference is immense - 128 sq feet for Uniworld, and 200 sq feet for Avalon. How much will that matter? We don't spend too much time in the room, however if the weather is not good,(rainy or too humid) we will go and read instead of fighting for lounge space.

    2. Weather - should we go in late May or late June/early July? We want sun, but don't want it to be too hot to walk/hike around. I hate humidity as well.

    3. How bad/good is the wine on each ship? I don't care if it's free flowing or not. I just want some good wine. Do I have to pay for something decent? What about the beer? My husband likes Microbrews.

    4. Can we bring on our own wine? Water? Beer? I can't find this on their websites.

    5. One ship includes Bikes and bike tours. Has anyone been on one? Is it worth making that a deciding factor?

    6. How much are the gratuities? Is it worth taking the cruise with them included?

So sorry for the multitude of questions! I hope you can help me out here!

    Thanks!!!

  12. Hi everyone! We will be there (on a Cruise) in November, and have the morning free. We were wondering if there is a nice beach that is not too far from the ship that we could take a taxi to? We could then perhaps cab it back to change for our afternoon tour? Thanks!

  13. Hi Steve! I truly enjoyed reading your review. Your pics and thoughts are almost identical to mine and my husband's. We loved this cruise, the ship, our tablemates, and most everyone we met. I was going to post some pics and comments, but you've been so thorough, I don't think i will. With any luck, we'll run into you on another cruise, and if not, Bon Voyage anyway! Take care, and thanks again for writing and reminding me of what a great time it was.
