  1. We have been on the Reflection a few times and on the Edge once. Luminae on both was excellent and we have not had problems getting a table on the Reflection. The Reflection has one up on the Edge class as you can order from the MDR too. Michael's Club on the Reflection is a great place and if Cranston is there it will still be great. Recently on the Eclipse we had a very nice Japanese person behind the bar but she was more a drink server than a "bartender" in the classic sense. We did not like the atmosphere in the Edge Retreat lounge even though the staff were great. Not as warm as on the Reflection (MC). We will be on the Reflection next week and are looking forward to one last cruise on it before it is "Edged". The Reflection also has the Lawn Club Grill and if they have another of their special dinner events we will be looking forward to it. After that we will be off to try Princess.
  2. Nice to know. We will be on the Reflection in a couple of weeks in an RS and are waiting for the shore side concierge to confirm our dining plans. We enjoyed the Porch one time, and not so much another time and had not planned to lunch there as we want to try Sushi on 5 for a change. Looking forward to any other observations about the Reflection as we have not been on it since our Mardi Gras cruise just before the big shut down, and it is our favorite Celebrity ship..
  3. I bring my own Crystal or Tapatio as all I am used to seeing is Tabasco. However, I have a bunch of Cholula packets that I might take next month instead, for convenience.
  4. My wife and I have not yet cruised on Princess but will next spring. We did however convince some friends of ours to go on their first cruise as the itinerary was quite attractive and the price was right. They will be on the Sapphire Princess early in the new year. They will have a mini suite and plus package and enjoy wines a lot. I have suggested they upgrade to premier but as it is their first cruise they are somewhat cautious. Neither Canyon Road nor Tisdale will appeal to them, I expect. I have searched with Google for MDR wine lists for Princess and have not found one that is current or in any way reflects what actually is available. Can anyone post a recent list noting what is/was available as an example of what our friends can expect? Ourselves, we will have a suite and the premier package when we cruise on the Royal next spring and hope availablity issues will be no longer a problem.
  5. Not a new topic but..... We are Elite Plus and can not see ever getting to Zenith but might stay with Celebrity if they would tease us with another loyalty level with expanded benefits, whatever they might be. Maybe called an Elite-X level or an Apex level? As it stands we will be jumping ship after our next Celebrity cruise (and not just for the perks).

    Wines

We will be on our first Princess cruise next spring and have booked a suite and the premium package. We also enjoy better wines and am curious as to whether they are actually available in the MDRs at all based on what I have read here. Having paid for the premium package I would not be impressed if all that was available with dinner were "generic" varietals. We are cruising the Mexican Riviera and there will be many days at sea so I would not be in a position to BMOW, even though there are some very good Mexican wines available in ports. We have previously cruised mainly with Celebrity in suites and the wines available while dining have generally been top notch and good variety.
  7. Slightly off topic but still laundry, we will be in a full suite next spring and understand that "free" laundry is included. This will be our first Princess cruise and have mainly sailed Celebrity before and had laundry picked up and delivered, folded and hung, included. Is this what we can expect on Princess, or will we just get a bunch of laundromat tokens?
  8. Here is a pEclipseDutyFree2022.pdfrice list from Eclipse on our Alaskan cruise a couple of months ago
  9. We will be on a 7 night cruise in a couple of months and have booked a Royal Suite. We are supposed to have wifi, specialty dining and premium drinks included, as well as gratuities, but do those gratuities cover the automatic 20% service sharge applied to specialty dining? In other words is a sevice charge a gratuity? It has been a few years since we booked a Celebrity Royal Suite so any information on"new ins and outs" would be appreciated.
  10. Does this include the Chef's Table in Murano or the Veuve Cliquot event in Murano? I think I read somewhere here that Sushi On Five is unlimited from the à la carte menu too. Any information on restrictions or limits would be appreciated. We have a RS in December so we are starting to plan out our cruise dining.
  11. On our last cruise we more OBC than we expected at the end so we used it to tip our butler and cabin attendant as well others. The form to do so was available at Customer Relations. When we advised our butler that we had done this he did not look too happy. We understand that only our butler and cabin attendant actually get specified amounts and others shared the tips, but does anyone know if and how they actually get the tips?
  12. We are Elite Plus on Celebrity and normally book a suite of various types but are in need of a change. We are not thrilled about the revolutionized changes to Celebrity ships. I liken them to moving to upscale Ikea from classic cruising. We want to try Princess and have booked a suite on the Royal for a cruise next year. What should be expect? Our suite looks nice and we understand the food is very good. Any thoughts?
  13. My wife uses a velcro cable tie about six inches long and it works great, and is easy to put on and remove.
  14. The points, which I noted, are first, you can carry on your bags which we were not aware you could, and second, in doing so you can get to enjoy the ship earlier and without the anxiety as to when or if your bags will arrive in your cabin. I stated clearly that we knew where the basement bag drop was based on previous cruises, but were not previously aware of the main level check in option.
  15. The first two times we boarded a Celebrity cruise in Vancouver we dragged our bags down the stairs to the bus parking area where a porter took them somewhere to load onto the ship. On our last cruise we had wandered around Canada Place the day before and on the main level we found a sign saying Check in for Celebrity Eclipse. The next day we went to that spot and dragged our bags with us expecting a drop off point somewhere, but it never happened and we ended up walking on the ship right to our cabin. Our bags were not huge but dragging them through all the boarding and security hoops then up the ramp to the ship was worth it as we did not have to wait for our bags to be delivered. Our sea passes were by the entrance to our suite and we were unpacked and ready for lunch in Luminae before noon.
  16. Yes, on the Eclipse August 21to Alaska. My wife napping.
  17. Thanks, now it is in both with further details on the West Coast Ports Board
  18. We were on the Eclipse on the August 21 Sunday departure and were staying in a downtown hotel. We wanted a breakfast before the cruise and did not want to pay ridiculous hotel prices so we checked out a restaurant that was a ten minute walk from Canada Place and open for breakfast at 7:30AM. The place is called Joyeaux Cafe and is at 551 Howe. They have a website if you want more info. They serve western breakfasts but it is really a Vietnamese restaurant and has the full Vietnamese menu available all day, so we each opted for grilled pork bahn mi served with lots of fresh fruit and shared a mango and basil salad roll. I also had an excellent americano coffee. The bill was $24 CAD total plus tax. I originally posted this on the Celebrity Forum but it was suggested to move it here. I should note that this place is open all week but many non hotel restaurants that cater to weekday businesses are not open on Sunday. This one is, and early too.

  20. Perhaps I should have mentioned that this was not "ship food" but a commercial product sold in a store in Ketchikan. We have often purchased food items while off the ship on cruises and declared them with no issues whatsoever. I was told by Customs that the product could have been accepted provided that it did not contain reindeer meat. As to a fine, that would have been possible if I had not declared it and it was discovered in a baggage search, but unlikely as I did declare it.
  21. We purchases a chunk of reindeer salami in Ketchikan the other day and when we returned to Vancouver it was confiscated by Customs as importation of reindeer meat to Canada is prohibited. This applies to anyone entering Canada and completing the required Customs declaration. Too bad, as I had hoped to save it for Christmas dinner. FYI.
  22. We had this available for our last Royal Suite. Is the service still available and is it available in Celebrity Suites? We would like to get a coffee maker and an extra lounger for an upcoming cruise, and have it in place when we board.
  23. Has anybody experienced this recently before a cruise out of Vancouver?
