  1. We visited Caracas in 2016 on a Pullmantur cruise. As we are Canadian we did not require a visa at the time. For safety reasons we were on a ship excursion for the visit and it was a bit scary as there were very young men in uniforms and machine guns on almost every street corner. Thankfully we were driven around in a convoy of white Toyota land cruisers with hard bench seats and drove up a mountain to a national park then back down on a gondola ride where we got back in our Toyotas and back to the ship. An interesting experience.
  2. Thanks, that is helpful and indicates that casual dining with the Premier package is basically unlimited with the exception of upsell items.
  3. I have read some speculation about restrictions and limits on casual dining with the Premium Package but would prefer hearing about real experiences if anyone would like to comment. Thanks.
  4. While I tend to agree with you, we have noticed that Celebrity is getting very expensive and cutting back in several areas. Most of our cruises have been with Celebrity in suites up to Royal Suites, but most often Sky Suites. Our most recent cruise was with Princess in a Penthouse Suite and, while it did not measure up to a Celebrity Sky suite, it was fine but cabin service was poor and suite benefits were limited, We did enjoy the Concierge lounge on the Royal, on our cruise, and the services of our concierge which was just like the service we were used to from staff in Michaels's Club on Celebrity.. Our next cruise will be on Princess again but this time in an Owner's Suite and we booked it for the itinerary and also the price. After that we will be back on Celebrity next year to see how things have changed.
  5. We were in a penthouse suite on our last cruise on the Royal and have booked an Owner's Suite on the Emerald in November. We did not even know there were such things and are looking to see how different it will be compared to a penthouse suite.
  6. We are looking forward to our November cruise on the Emerald. We will have a suite and we were wondering which dining room was available for breakfast especially for suite guests. On our last cruise on the Royal it was Sabatini's and that was great. Also on our last cruise there was a special wine pairing dinner in Sabatini's for $60 per person and we enjoyed it. Is there anything like that on the Emerald?
  7. I previously had the app installed on my newish Lenovo tablet but removed it when it would not load properly after our last Celebrity Cruise. I went to reinstall it but can no longer D/L it from the app store as it says my tablet is not supported. I have sent a message to the RCCL app people but have not yet heard back. Anyone else have this problem? The app seems to be working OK on my wife's newer yet Samsung S6 lite.
  8. I agree and wonder what exactly the "Dover Sole" is that they serve in Murano. Nevertheless , it is very good but not quite as good as what I had in Jersey years ago. BTW, that 20% is probably much higher in reality.
  9. I agree this is dumb. I think they should stock the fridge with a few bottles of "house" water for no charge and leave it to you to get and add anything else. No counting work for the room attendant nor any work to add charges. That would save time and money.
  10. In Luminae we never order the cheese plate as it is "fresh from the fridge" and tasteless. Instead, at least on S class ships, ask your waiter in Luminae, the day before, if he or she can arrange for a selection of cheeses from Murano. They have superb cheeses at the right temperature and perfect ripeness. Best cheeses at sea, IMO.
  11. I am very glad they have not "updated" the Reflection as it is our favorite ship and I have yet to hear of anything that has been updated that is an improvement. If we do go on the Equinox next spring I can't say I will be looking forward to the changes.
  12. How changed is Michael's Club/Retreat Lounge from what it was a few years ago? I noted on one YT video that there is now key card entry. Is there still a bar and bartender and is there a Concierge/Retreat Host Desk? Any other notable changes post revolution/refit?
  13. We dump the stuff, rinse the glass then pour our own Cava or other decent bubbly. Then at least we have glasses.
  14. Mention was made of this some time ago. Is it still operating, and how and when do you find out if you can access it? I am asking as our next cruise out of FLL will be in a full suite and I will need to know if the hotel to cruise port shuttle will know where to drop us off. Also it would be nice to know what facilities and serviced are available in the lounge.
  15. We like Celebrity a lot and normally get a suite so we have access to Luminae (and BLU) but have now tried Princess once and will do so again in November. While the food is not as good (IMO) and the suites and service can not compare to Celebrity, the itineraries and price are hard to resist. We will have an Owner's Suite (one of two on the ship) and will visit 8 ports on a 14 day cruise, and with the top package available our fare will be about $14,000 CAD. Nevertheless, we will be back on Celebrity (preferably the Reflection) one day in the future for a Med cruise we hope.
  16. We had a similar Super Tuscan wine pairing on the Royal in Sabatini's a few months ago and it was very enjoyable. We thought it was worth the price. I hope we see a dinner like this again on the Emerald in a few months.
  17. We will be on the Emerald in November in a full suite and will have the Premier package. From what I have seen so far, the Emerald has fewer dining options than many other Princess ships, especially no Alfredo's which I understand will be a casual dining options under the new scheme on other ships. What other casual dining options might there be on the Emerald that would be considered as casual dining ? Frankly we are going on this cruise for the ports not the ship so much, but it would be nice to know what (new?) dining options there might be.
  18. We loved Sabatini's on the Royal earlier this year and after trying the Crown Grill twice on that cruise , were very disappointed with the food and service. We had a suite and had breakfast at Sabatini's included which was also excellent. No Crown Grill: no lose IMO.
  19. On our last (and first, but not first and last) Princess Cruise we got a clip-on accessory with our Premium package. Our second cruise will be in November. Will we get another clip or maybe a wrist strap instead? Again we will have the Premium package.
  20. We agree and have enjoyed several excellent cheeses purchased in ports and kept in our fridge. We did have a superb raw milk camembert that did a number on the nose in the fridge, and we actually were able to get it home safely. Departing SFO recently on Princess we found sone really nice cheeses at Trader Joe's including a Point Reyes blue that we did enjoy in our cabin during the cruise.
  21. I can't say as I agree with my neighbour's comment as our experience is that Princess cheese selection was pretty basic and very North American. No goats cheeses and simple cheddar and "Swiss" and bland brie. Our best experience with cheese on a cruise was with Celebrity in the Murano dining room, where the range and quality of cheeses was outstanding and presented on a special trolley by someone who actually knew the cheeses. Also beware of the "cheese plate" fresh from the refrigerator.
  22. Just present the coupon when you get to the restaurant, or when ordering.
  23. A free bottle of wine is never redundant! Have it on your balcony with room service (or not) or give it away, but do not call it redundant!
  24. Don't forget your free bottle of wine if you dine in a specialty restaurant the first night: ShipwideSavingsCoupons2023.pdf (responsys.net)
