  1. No harm in replying to email from concierge a week before the cruise and requesting your CK bookings then. I would still check once on board that the bookings are there.

The CK is next to the suite lounge so very easy to wander over and have a chat with the host. I find this a lot easier than going through the concierge. Cuts out the middle man.

I was on Allure last August. The restaurant manager was very accommodating. I did see JS guests turned away and also refused booking in advance btw but the same didn't apply for full suite guests.

Previously, when we were on Oasis, we did have difficulty getting bookings for certain nights (like formal day) so lesson learnt was to book in advance. Plus we were encouraged to book in advance. Looks like demand is dependent on sailing so the policy perhaps changes to deal with demand. Most likely, star class gets priority, then the rest of full suites and finally JS guests.

That’s our plan... reply to the welcome email with a thank you and requests for CK and a time frame each night.

  3. Can you make reservations for the entire week for the Coastal Kitchen if you are in a GS on Allure, or do you have to make them daily?

From what I've read you cannot make them prior to the cruise, correct?

Also, have there been any reports of people in Grand Suites being denied dinner reservations in Coastal Kitchen (like they do for Jr. Suites)?

No you shouldn’t have an issue but book the days you want soon as you board.

  4. It’s a good deal. Did it on Oasis last year and had dinner at Park 150 for $15 a person. Price has gone up to $20.

The deal says they pick the restaurant but you can change it once on the ship if you do it early enough. Planning on Chops in a couple of weeks.

  5. First off let me say Galveston as a town is awesome great people great restaurants the port on the other hand is horrible it’s all the staff in my opinion do not do a good job. The porters I found to be very pushy and lines to get in and out of the port take forever there’s no system people cut in line constantly we love the Town of Galveston and will go back to visit but I will never cruise out of there again. Again this is just my experience of others have told me their experience was the same as mine

  6. My last cruise we went to the Captains welcome toast. After the talks, he lined up with several seniors and people would walk by, shake hands and say hello. (After that, the large Dutch part of the guests got to enjoy raw herring, and some Americans must have run to the toilet after learning what was actually served :D)

I'm not a virologist. But if I wanted to design a way to get everone on the ship to have Noro or worse, I'd think the best way is a ceremonial where a large portion of the ship would stand in line to either infect or get an infection from the same 5 hands.

It's a nice gesture, I liked saying thanks to the Master for his informative announcements, and I didn't get sick. Then again, it's not that hard to implement the Japanese way of shaking hands. A big sign "Don't shake hands please. Bow instead."

It could even be one of those things you'd tell people who never cruised, and it would certainly not dimish the fact that you got to meet the Captain.

100% agree. Even at our church when we give the sign of peace to each other during the service our Pastor even says don’t shake hands because it’s flu season instead just give a greeting and say peace be with you so even in our church we don’t shake hands during flu season very easy way to spread viruses

  7. Buying out the chefs table was an option that was offered to us by the wedding team so not sure why people at RC didn’t know about this.

We weren’t after any special treatments from the spa team, my partner wanted to speak to the salon to find out what they could offer for her and her bridesmaids in terms of hair and makeup.

There isn’t more to our stories, this is what makes it so frustrating. We had spent months and month organising this wedding.

Thanks and looking forward to our new plans.

That sucks. Well move on from here and have a great wedding!!! Don’t let this setback ruin what should be you and your wife’s greatest day. Best wishes

  8. Finally finished! I wanted to upload them directly to CC, but I ended up having to host them and post links. I'll keep these up for the next year or so. I hope someone gets some use out of them!

I will mention that the showtimes schedule is a little different than what we were expecting. Mama Mia was cancelled for our showing, so they rescheduled it for the last sea day. Unfortunately, the two lady cast members were still ill, so we didn't get to see it.

The comedy shows on the last night are something that I didn't expect prior to boarding. There is a family friendly version early, and an adult version later that night. Same comedians as in the Comedy club, but different material. We went to the family and adult shows. The first comic did the same material with stronger language. The second comedian was hilarious and did a completely different show. We were glad that we stayed to see him.

Feel free to comment if you wish to do so! Thanks!

  9. What do you mean OP?

This is what we mean, they have put that RC was unable to meet our requirements when they actually could meet them but it is as if no one communicates with anyone else at RC.

This is exactly our point and RC just didn't want to bother doing anything anymore.

I think they just wanted us to buy the package wedding and not change or question a single option.

I agree. Look I’ve been sailing on RCCL since My first cruise on Song of America in 1988. So I’ve dealt with these people a Loooooonnnnggg time. Special requests don’t work! It’s pretty much buy the package and that’s what you get. It’s not like on land where you could arrange every detail. Crews change every so often, even cruise directors change. So plans you make with one might not go over with another. I’m sure there’s more to the story on both parts but it’s a shame you and your future wife have to deal with this during what should be a fun time of planning. I love RCCL but I’ve learned a long time ago not to ask for things above and beyond. And I’m not referring to extra towels or ice in the room. I’m speaking of bigger issues such as buying out the Chefs Table or special Spa Treatments for the Wedding Party. Good luck and I hope whatever your plans for your wedding goes well.

  10. Extremely subjective statement as to how long you are in your stateroom. I’m not in the room often at all. But my wife lives in the room !!! Not that she wants to but she is chained to the bathroom mirror for hours. Not joking. So a larger balcony stateroom is a must for her due to her hours of dress and makeup time. If you are an up and go person the room size won’t matter but if you plan on sitting in the room or on the balcony the go with a Junior Suite
