  1. We were on the Freedom in October, 2022. We had a very good time. I did smell the sewer smell a few times but mostly when we were in Port Canaveral on embarkation day. Not so much after that. I made a point this time to try different things in the MDR. I was mostly satisfied. Really missed the stuffed mushrooms though. Room was always clean and our Steward recognized us from way down the hall. I still don't know how they do that when they have so many new people every 5-7 days. I would sail on her again.
  2. Congrats on that! Thats awesome! When you look at the deck plus, 6202 is called a panoramic suite. I think carnival must have built a wall to make it a smaller balcony though.
  3. Thank you. So what would you think if you booked cabin 6202 as a free balcony deal, not a free suite. Did I just get lucky? I am afraid to ask carnival too many questions. Here are the deck plans from another post that Crimpy posted. Costa Luminosa Smeraldo Deck Plans (cruisedeckplans.com)
  4. I know it was a quick turn around, but still. If she is sailing, shouldn't there be photos of the different stateroom levels? We are booked on #6202 out of Brisbane. Not leaving until Feb 2024 so I have lots of time. I'm still curious though.
  5. Thank you. We have spent lots of time in Seattle. I did enjoy it. I used to go there once a year for a work trip. Our daughter lived there until a few years back. We used to visit her there. I think we have decided to stick to the Caribbean until we can do Alaska right. My husband had a really great point. I am not a cold weather person (he is) he said "I know I am only going to get you to go to Alaska once. I don't want to do it half arsed." He is probably right. I really do want to be able to go a little later in the season, when we have a good shot at Icy Strait Point. I would also love to see Hubbard and Sitka These areas don't seem to be available on the carnival cruises that would work for our dates. We own a bakery in Denver and we do many farmers markets in the summer, it's hard to take any time off then. It won't always be this way though. Thanks everyone for your help.
  6. Which to choose for mid to late May 2023. The 10 day would be a stretch for our work schedules but we could swing it, if it was worth it. What do you think? For those of you that want to tell me we should pick a different cruise line to cruise to Alaska. The thing is, Carnival is the cruise line that is offering me a free balcony cabin. (for which I am very grateful) Carnival is the only cruise line that I am asking about in this post. Thank you for understanding. Besides, I have already paid for this cruise in the casino on other cruises, lol. That is why I get free balcony offers.
  7. Thank you! I saw something similar. I am booked in cabin 6202. According to the picture in the link you provided, it has a huge balcony. According to carnival, it has a standard balcony. It does seem to have a bathtub and walk in closet though. Those will be nice bonuses as I got this cabin in a free balcony deal. I wonder if carnival put a wall up where the wrap around balcony was supposed to be.
  8. I have been having the same issue with trying to figure out my cabin. I booked what was referred by carnival at the time as a jr. suite. Now I don't see jr. suites listed at all. I also have been trying to see a picture of the cabin but there aren't any available.
  9. Thank you for posting this. We will be on her in 13 days. Glad to know the food and service were enjoyable for you. Just looking forward to a mix of fun and relaxation.
  10. Thank you both for your reply. This cruise was actually booked a couple of years ago and we were supposed to go in 2021. I don't need to explain why we didn't 't go. Now we are scheduled for December 30th, 2022. I guess what I am really wondering is, is this cruise really worth it from the US? Denver, Colorado to be specific. The flights for economy are almost 3K USD PP. Premium economy is $4,500. It looks so beautiful in the pictures and we do like to snorkel. My husband also likes to dive but, not me. I am happier on the surface of the water. I am definitely more of a beach person than he is. He gets bored on the beach pretty quickly. He likes the forest so, I thought he would like Isle of Pines. I picked the most expensive time of the year to travel to Sydney because, that is what worked for my schedule. It was a great offer from Carnival. Now I am wondering if I should cancel. I am not a flight snob and usually fly economy. With such a long flight, we thought we would try to go premium economy, for more leg room and comfort. That is $9,000!!!!!! I could take a couple of trips for that amount of money. I have an app on my phone called "Hopper" it's a flight prediction app. It says that flight prices are going to come down. What should I do?
  11. DAY PORT OF CALL ARRIVE DEPART Fri Sydney, Australia 4:00 PM Sat Fun Day At Sea Sun Fun Day At Sea Mon Noumea, New Caledonia 8:00 AM 5:00 PM Tue Mystery Island, Vanuatu 8:00 AM 5:00 PM Wed Mare, New Caledonia 8:00 AM 5:00 PM Thu Isle Of Pines, New Caledonia 8:00 AM 5:00 PM Fri Fun Day At Sea Sat Fun Day At Sea Sun Sydney, Australia 6:30 AM It's high season so the airfare is killing me from the US. The cruise itself was very reasonable because I got a great deal from carnival. Has anyone done this one?
