  1. You can… but having a bar or bottle (or three) in your cabin is pretty suite … my favorite is having a couple of cocktails while getting ready for dinner…or sitting in one of those club chairs while enjoying the floor to ceiling view in the DOS… now, we head out early for cocktails before dinner…

  3. Wow....that's great!! I found this online...apparently you can still get the liquor in your room if you get the big suites! Champagne, custom selection of liquor**, fruit, bottled water and sodas **3-Bedroom Garden Villa, Deluxe Owner's Suite with Large Balcony and Owner's Suite with Large Balcony only. Sparkling wine, bottled water and fruit on Embarkation Day Nespresso Coffeemaker and Tea Forte tea bags 24-hour Room Service Invitations to an exclusive breakfast and lunch Specialty dining delivered to your suite from any restaurant (cover charges apply) Cocktail party with ship's officers Treats delivered right to your door each night
  4. On a Panama Canal cruise, I would definitely keep that aft balcony, the view is unbeatable. Going through the locks takes a while and it was so nice to relax on our aft balcony while watching the water levels go up and down. I did a time lapse video coming back (really neat). Enjoy your aft balcony. I also think that NCL is pricing themselves out on Havens. I don't think the average Joe can ( or wants to) dish out $7000 (and more) to sail in the Haven...and once you've done it, you realize that was alot of money for that experience. Yes, it nice...but I would rather go on more cruises than to blow my all my vacation money on one cruise.
  5. I'm pretty sure they have done away with the 3 bottles perk in the suites.. 😞 Now they just offer you free drinks everywhere. Also, (back in the day), when they first came out with the beverage package, if you had a suite, the gratuities were included!! Enjoy the 2 bdrm suite... it's very nice (except for that teenie tiny balcony)
  6. For those of you bidding, or have bid in the past. Keep in mind there are several factors that go into their decision on who gets an upgrade. #1. How much did you pay for your current cabin (did you pay rock bottom or top dollar?) #2. How much can they get for your current cabin and #3. How much did you bid on your offer. Which ever scenario will net them the most money dictates who wins the bid. I would like to believe that status level has something to do with it, but probably not since status doesn't = more money for them. I also think that when capacity was at about 50%...alot of people were awarded upgrades (us included) at the lowest bid...but now, with cruising open to all... I'm pretty sure we will be seeing full capacity once again.... don't forget to washy washy...it's still a thing.
  7. For us, Haven Suites just aren't what NCL Suites used to be.... the best suite we ever booked on NCL was the Deluxe Owners Suite on the Dawn...that cabin was the bomb!! Floor to ceiling windows, right over the bridge...bigger than alot of NYC apartments... back when they used to give you 3 BOTTLES OF BOOZE of your choice!! The list of amenities was long. This was long before the 'Haven' and the 'Cabana' rooms...
  8. Now that they've opened up cruising to the non-vaccinated, I'm sure there will be less suites available in the bidding process... I'm okay with it, we've got a deck 8 fwd mini suite with extended balcony (it's about a 10x15 balcony) We are not joiners... I don't dig the crowded pool scene upstairs... I like lazy days with laying in the sun...and I also like being able to just walk inside and use my own bathroom when needed 😉 We won our bid on a 2 bdrm haven suite last year...it was nice, but I wouldn't book it at full price.
  9. keep an eye on it.... it might go down (it did for us last year)... there are alot of 2 bdrm haven suites and if you are sailing during a 'low kid count' time (school year/non-holiday)...they will have alot of these available... we won a bid on one, I can't remember how much it cost us, the room was nice, the large soaking tub with outdoor view was nice (I downloaded some netflix movies and soaked)...my only complaint about this cabin was the super tiny balcony and the haven pool was teenie weenie (like for 2 people)...we did not use the 2nd bdrm at all (only for storage) and it was nice to have 2 bathrooms.. also remember, that along with a haven suite, comes a butler and a concierge and matre d that all pretty much expect/require tips... the haven was nice, we spent most of our time there...but I would never pay full price to be in the haven...
  10. Once you get past security screening, there is a special line for Platinum passengers.
  11. Also, and unfortunately... the friend I brought with me on this sailing...this was her first (and I'm pretty sure last) cruise with Carnival. She is an avid cruiser with ncl and was curious about Carnival.
  12. I was on the 6/16 sailing, first sailing out of NYC. It was a total sh*tshow from the moment we showed up. Parked my car up above, took the escalator down to the terminal. I am platinum, so I asked for the priority line. I was rudely told 'no priority, everyone has to go outside and come back in' ... the terminal was super crowded, unorganized, no one knew anything... we had an 11-1130 check in time and we arrived right at 1130. We went outside as instructed and the line was almost all the way to the next pier... there was no one there to instruct us... there was no way I was going to walk all the way to the end of that line without talking to someone. We went back inside and I found someone to show my papers to (regarding check in time) by now it was 1145. She put us through and things moved quickly after that, we were onboard probably in about 20 minutes. That was the first red flag... if I could, I would go back in time and cancel that cruise.... it was a free casino comp and it wasn't worth the money we paid (port fees & taxes)... even with the free drinks. The cabin was a deck 2 oceanview (2464, aft corner, large)..never again will I stay on a lower deck...everyone assured it that decks 1 & 2 were great, very little movement, very nice....(they lied)... lots of complaints about the smell on decks 1&2 (garbage? sewer?)...anyway, it was a rough ride (I swear the thruster was directly under my bed). The ship was definitely overcrowed and understaffed...Carnival did not promote any kind of social distancing...our dinner table was 3 inches from the next (pretty much group dinning) the food was okay, but not outstanding... one afternoon, we waited in line at Mongolian Wok for 45 minutes...the wait was horrible and the food, again...just okay. This was a short 4 day run to Bermuda...so only 2 shows...the first was Flick... it was okay, reminiscent of the usual Carnival song and dance...the second was America Rocks and that was pretty awesome for those of us that loved the concerts of the 80's.... The serenity deck was closed most of the time, the location of it is terrible, top deck/front of ship... it was way too windy, so closed... there was not a single lounger available around the pool (that's ok, it's not my thing)...but we did discover, on deck 5... there is a promenade all around with loungers, tables, chairs and 4 hot tubs and most of time was really nice and quiet!! Anyway, my cabin mate ended up getting Covid. My husband and I had gotten Covid on our May cruise. I will say this... the line at guest services was a mile long everyday... lots of problems apparently.
  13. Last I knew, mask were mandatory inside the terminal. Recommended, but not mandatory onboard. My husband and I got it on our May cruise. My cabin mate got it on our June cruise. I'm pretty sure I got it in the casino in May and passed it onto my husband. The June cruise on the Magic (never again) was so crowded, almost full capacity but short staffed (terrible combination) there was no way to avoid the crowds and the lines.... I've been watching/warning a few fb groups... only to have my warnings cast away as lies and ultimately dozens of passengers going home with covid. We have cruises booked for October, November and February. We are watching the situation day by day and hope that things turn around soon.... (I can dream, right?) Anyway, if I were to get on a cruise ship right now.... I would definitely put on a mask where ever needed and carry my hand sanitizer again... and avoid the crowded elevators and crowded areas (casino) of the ship... it might give you a fighting chance... Also... I am a firm believer in the power of Elderberry gummies...great immune boosters!!
  14. my pvp helped me do a passenger switch 2 days before sailing. Although, I was the primary on the cabin and that does make a difference.
  15. the koozies smell like burning truck tires.... i got rid of ours...
  16. Drinks everywhere is only for the person that receives the offer...BUT, if your cabin mate also has that offer, you both get it. My husband and I both get these amazing casino offers, so we both get the fun play money and the drinks... you should get a good PVP. I love being able to contact the same person for all my bookings and any problems...
  17. I would worry more about getting it onboard. My husband and I got it on our May cruise, and my cabin mate just got it on our June cruise.... lots of reports of people getting it onboard..
  18. On our last two cruises (March & May), we used a free balcony offer and still got the obc...but it could have been because I had paid to upgrade our cabin...from balcony to premium balcony.. We are leaving this Thursday on a free oceanview which I did not upgrade... I got a response from them saying denied because of the discounted deal... but all my cruises are discounted deals..so wth? I faxed it in again about 2 weeks ago...so, we'll see. All of our cruises are casino deals and we still get it...
  19. on my last two cruises, I didn't know until it showed up on my bill. I never received an email or anything. (submitted by fax) this time, I submitted by email and then I got a denial reply?? Saying that I booked at a reduced rate, blah blah blah... (all my cruises are booked with reduced rates, wth?) so I resubmitted by fax, haven't heard back yet...
  20. We just started the carry on/carry off travel.... if we are driving to port, we use our 24" bag with a topper (tote bag with a trolley sleeve that attaches to the handle of the suitcase... if we are flying, it will be the carry-on (20") and a personal item (tote/backpack)... we are guilty of brining way too much stuff, most of which doesn't even get touched... Besides, how much room do you need for 7 bikini's and speedo's, right 😉 FYI.... cpap/bi-pap machines fly for free (medical device)... does not count as your personal item...
  21. I got my first denial...the first two cruises I submitted for, I faxed it in, no problems. This time I decided to email it in and it was denied with the excuse: you purchased a special rate cruise, not eligible. Well, that last two cruises were also special rate cruises (casino deals) and there was no problem. So I resubmitted via fax....so, hopefully it will go through.
  22. ok...here's my monkey-wrench. We tested positive after our last cruise (May 8-15).... we did home tests as soon as we got home, both of us positive (along with alot of others on that sailing). A few days later, we decided that we had better get 'documented proof' right away just incase we still test positive before our next cruise (June 16th). Our June cruise is going to BERMUDA! Where we had to file (and pay) for a travel authorization. Luckily, Bermuda is no longer asking for a negative test prior to boarding to be submitted directly to them, but you do have to submit paperwork at check-in. So, my question is: If we still test positive just before the cruise, will Bermuda accept our prior positive results for clearance? Fingers crossed that we test negative, we still have 2 weeks until cruise time.
  23. So, apparently, the Legend is on an ULTRA sailing right now and I am trying to get information regarding the latest give-aways... When do they usually do the envelope draw? First night? 5th night? Last night??
  24. So, does everyone that is sailing under the 'Ultra' deal get one of these prizes? And how are prizes chosen??
