  1. No idea what a wool jersey or puffer jacket is, but you need more than a "light rain jacket". Overnight lows will be in the 40's, daytime highs in the 60's, maybe low 70's. The coast will be cooler than inland.
  2. On a Mexico cruise it would be quite warm, maybe even hot, September to mid-October.
  3. If you are staying at the Embassy Suites, I'd go to the Ralph's Supermarket (Krogger) on G Street. It will have a better selection and prices.
  4. Because parking is limited at the stack garage, Carnival sometimes directs passengers from the larger ships or longer voyages to the LBCC for parking.
  5. In the base of the InterContinental San Diego is the Harbor Market and there is a Rite-Aid on Ash & Kettner.
  6. PS Look at a custom tour from Charley's Taxi. Tours & Attractions – Charley's Taxi (charleystaxi.com)
  7. Look at Robert's Hawaii Oahu. Oahu Tours, Activities & Attractions | Roberts Hawaii
  8. If I was a Cunard Queen Elizabeth Q4 Suite passenger I'd be engaging a private car. I can't imagine there is no access because of Canada Day to the terminal.
  9. Yes the pools are heated. That doesn't mean they will be hot enough for you. A competition pool is usually 79°-81°, sometimes hotels heat pools into the higher 80s° (and people still complain they are too cold).
  10. I've not used Turo in Hawaii, but I have in Las Vegas and Salt Lake City for personal travel. When I travel on Business I always use the nationals. I've never used an off brand, purely local company, but if I was ever tempted to, a one day rental might be where I'd start. I have learned to avoid companies with "money" names, Thrifty, Payless, Budget, Dollar, etc.
  11. There is lots of discussion in these pages about car rentals. If you search for them, be sure they are dated post Covid; lots changed due to Covid and other events. I think Kauai is the hardest place to rent a car, unless you use Avis/Budget, which sends a shuttle from the airport. Any other national brand you need a way to the airport and the taxi line was an hour in October and Uber non-existent for the port area. Maui has Enterprise that is walkable (.7 mile, if I recall) and there are a couple of local agencies that are walkable, but since Kahului airport built their CONRAC, all the majors dropped their shuttles to the port since they don't have shuttles any more. In my experience, Hilo was a bit easier port to get a taxi to the airport for a car. The airports on Kauai, Maui and Hilo, are all only about 3 miles or less from the cruise port, getting to them easily is the main issue.

On Kauai there is a very small shopping center, Anchor Cove, that you can walk to and they send a shuttle to the port. Hilo Hatties, a Hawaiian clothing and souvenir company also sends a shuttle to the port. But Lihue is not really a town with a main shopping district. There is a small mall called the Kukui Grove Center, a little over two miles away. Kona is an walking town for shops and restaurants.
  13. When I go to Pearl Harbor I am usually going just to visit the USS Arizona Memorial. I've never spent a whole day there. If you've never done an island circle tour, that might be my pick with an early visit to the USS Arizona Memorial.
  14. Vancouver is the only city you can do a one way trip from. LA, San Francisco and San Diego require a round trip with a stop in Mexico.
  15. My favorite Churchill quote is roughly: Lady Astor: “Mr. Churchill, if I were married to you, I’d put poison in your coffee.” Churchill: “Madame, if I were married to you, I’d drink it.”
  16. There are several, I think Cabrillo Liquors & Fine Wines is the best. It is maybe a 20 minute walk.
  17. Perhaps you missed "darn near walkable". I have walked off the airport property many times. I used to do my airport parking at the Sheraton across the street. But that was in the days before Uber, which is so cheap, that is how I get to and from Lindbergh now. Which is why I advised the OP to use Uber (or a taxi).
  18. No. Well, maybe a lei because most floral Lei are made of products allowed to leave Hawaii.
  19. Taxi or Uber, it is darn near walkable, a little more than 2 miles.
  20. I don't know why more of the all-inclusive lines don't do that. "Drink your own stock, not ours". Seems a good deal for them.
  21. San Pedro has four berths, 92, 93, 46 and 50. We are on the Majestic in October out of Berth 50. The point wasn't that San Diego needs more terminals, but better management and a better customer experience to keep the companies wanting to come. It is great when Disney shows up and I'd like to see MSC come in.
  22. Not sure where that pool is, but in California, vomit might be 30 minutes, but feces would close the pool for a day.
  23. Would you bother with pools not in the YC? Was there anything you thought worthwhile? Did you try the main buffet besides that first day? (I don't remember if you said you did) Was the YC poolside buffet varied enough to not have to venture to the main?
  24. The best Chinese tends to be in Richmond, but there are several good/decent places by the Pan Pacific, including Jade Dynasty, Victoria Chinese Restaurant and Jingle Bao.
  25. Coming in at 7:30PM, I might just stay at the Courtyard by Marriott Anchorage Airport. I love the Hotel Captain Cook, but you wouldn't have much time to enjoy it.
