  1. I am wondering about the fountains on the pool deck, on Regal.

Notice on cruiser thinks that they are not the best use of space on prime pool-deck real estate.

Anyhow, is this being used besides the show in the evenings?

Most pictures I see it is just an empty roped off space?

    Thanks!

When we were on board, they had loungers on it during the day...

  2. Overcrowding would be true. The Island [along with Coral] had, more space per passenger than any other ship in the fleet.

As a footnote, my understanding was that that when these ships were built there were supposed to be,FOUR in total, but the last two were cancelled.I guess that Princess did not care for the Passenger/Tonnage ratio.

Well, they were being built when the company was bought out by Carnival Corp., so it was probably Carnival that nixed two more Coral-class ships.

  3. I have never sailed on Island, but I have sailed Coral many times. Now IF Princess did the same alterations to Coral, I would never sail on her again!!!

For starters The Universe Lounge, is IMO the best theater, big or small that I have been in.

With the added passengers, the dining room size remains the same, hence it would be almost impossible, unless one books very early to get the ever popular first seating at dinner.

These points added to those already mentioned shows that the Island is now but a mere shadow of her former self.

    Shame on Princess!!!

Although I do detest that they got rid of the Universe Lounge, I found it to be a pretty bad venue. Sight lines were poor and sitting on the second level was fairly awful with the glass surround and all the pillars. Never could find a good seat without having to crane the neck.

  4. That's interesting. I am trying to get two inside cabins close together. One cabin will hold only 1 person and the other will hold 3 but the same cabins keep popping up for both choices so I guess they will allow 1 person to book a cabin that holds 3-4. I was trying to avoid that since I heard the 3rd and 4th beds protrude from the walls.

A lot of cabins that have 4 berths have the bunks in the ceiling. Call Princess and they can tell you if the cabin you're looking at has the bunks on the wall or in the ceiling.

  5. It has been about six weeks and I was printing out my boarding passes. I still have two more bookings showing gold and one shows ruby. I will watch and see what happens - by the next cruise I will be platinum. Probably depends on how often they run a report and either run a script or manually update bookings.

Just call Princess. Ask them to refresh the loyalty level on the booking and all will be well...

  6. I feel the same way although in this video by their VP of Sales reserving seats before the cruise is one of the cool functions of *****.

I prefer the current system whereby those who arrive at the theater first get first choice of seats. A Princess Theater reservation system does not cost anything which makes it much different than in the example of buying movie or theater tickets at home. On Princess no shows don't lose any money; no shows with purchased movie & theater tickets will probably lose their money...that's a big difference.

Advance seat reservations may be good for passengers who arrive at showtime & get upset when there are no seats. The reason there are no seats is because other passengers arrive early to ensure having a seat which some passengers refuse to comprehend.

Princess has not disclosed the complete procedure but I see problems with it. How long are reserved seats held? Will early arriving passengers without reservations have to line up outside the theater in hopes of being seated? Will the entire theater be available to prereserve seats?

Princess promotes their cruise experience as to Escape Completely which for me doesn't include making a theater reservation in advance without knowing other options to enjoy my cruise. And being told onboard that a performance is soldout & I'd have to wait in line just in case there were any no shows is not what I expect on a Princess cruise.

I've read of some cruise lines who make advance seat reservations & have other passengers wait in line to see if they can be seated & some that charge a fee for performances. However those are just some of the reasons why I chose to not sail those cruise lines.

Well, with the Medallion, wouldn't they know that the guest is a no-show? Maybe their signage around the ship will hound the person with a "hey, aren't you supposed to be in the theater" message... ;p

  7. Thanks...glad to hear as reviews have not been favorable.

Always take reviews with a grain of salt. Many folks are quick to give negative reviews, but won't write a review when they've had a good time.

  8. Understand the Golden is going into dry dock for some refurbishing...would like any feedback on this ship. Will be our first time on Princess..we are celebrity cruisers but it's the itinerary we like.

    I believe that she's scheduled for a drydock in March/April 2018...

I've sailed on the Golden many times. She's a good ship.

  9. I couldn't understand Celebrity Infinity leaving Bilbao late October 2013.

The Captain claimed he was told by the suits in Miami that it would be safer at sea, rather than being bashed against the harbour wall. We endured 40-50 waves and literally slid up and down the bed as the ship pitched and rolled.

The following morning we noticed one of the MDR windows had imploded.

A number of passenger broke bones.

You should be grateful the Captain stayed in the shelter of Southampton.

Hmmmm... Sounded like Celebrity was more interested in the condition of their ship than the safety of their passengers.

  10. Am I able to call princess and find out how many kids will be on our Alaskan cruise on July 7th. Will they give me how many in each age group.

Yes, they will. You'll be placed on hold while they check with the pertinent department, but they'll be able to get you that information.

  11. This is very helpful thank you. Just to be clear you are saying we can cancel #3 and #4 AFTER a final payment has been made for all 4 and get a refund of their fares right up to the sailing date? Pax #1 & #2 would stay the same. I think we would likely even know by final payment date.

For whomever asked my kids are in their 20's now but we still like cruising 4 in a grand class Vista suite. Last January due to sale it was cheaper with 4 in the Vista vs 2 in an inside. We have done it both ways and really love having the kids in the room (it's big enough) because we don't get to spend as much time together as we used to.

No, I believe that cancellation fees would be incurred if you cancelled the 3rd and 4th passengers after final payment.

  12. We were in F305 on the last east bound TA and had the same creaking etc during some rough seas. It only lasted 1 or 2 nights but it was very apparent. I've been in these WS before so I kinda knew what to expect. It does keep you awake if you are a light sleeper.

    That noise is stabilizers.

  13. ROFL.

    1. I can also see all airports on a test booking but once the booking is made and I access it as 'my booking' I only see BOU.

    2. ROFL and turning somersaults. Are you really serious about flying from Bournemouth to Heathrow? - it takes about one hour to drive to Heathrow!

NO-ONE would ever even consider doing it.

Decided to check if it was possible at all Answer Yes: Fly to Dublin with Ryanair and then fly back to London-journey time SIX hours! I guess you don't live in the U.K.

The issue is your "gateway" city that is listed on your booking. This is your home city and what EZAir bases its quotes on. You can call Princess (or have your TA do it if you booked with a TA) and have them change the gateway to London. That will fix the problem.
