  1. Someone mentioned kids at the Blue Lagoon.  This would be true if you are traveling during a holiday period when kids are out of school.  I am going through the same dilemma now since I'll be in Nassau in late March.  I have been to the Melia and had their day pass which gave you access to their facilities but if you want drinks or lunch be prepared to have a lot of money in your wallet.  The Buffet was $70.00pp and the food choices were not that great and certainly not worth the cost.  Good Luck!

  2. On April 14th the Royal Princess will be visiting Grenada and I'm signed up for the Underwater Sculpture Park Snorkeling adventure with Grenada Seafaris Powerboat Adventures. I was notified that we need some more people to make this happen. It's s 2.5hr excursion to be picked up at the terminal and to be brought back there as well. Pickup is 12:45pm and drop-off is 3:30pm. I was told by friends who had done this dive that the water is calm and crystal clear and the sculptures are the homes for many fish and underwater coral. If you really want to take part in the adventure contact Grenada Seafaris Powerboat adventure. If you don't want to snorkel you can just swim in the area just off of the boat. The boat will also tour the coastline of Grenada which will also be fun. I don't work for this company but I am a passenger on the Royal Princess and I am too looking forward to going.

  3. My wife and I did the Regal out of B'klyn NY Oct 2015 and we loved it. The ship was great. Had a balcony on the Dolphin deck and it was great. All the ports were wonderful and The B'klyn port from which we departed was very easy for parking and for traveling in and out of. Try not to go to far into October since it could be chilly in Canada and in New England.

  4. I will be on the Royal Princess in April and I am considering doing the Balmoral Island Island excursion with the cruise line. I've been to Nassau many times but never there. Can anyone that has done the excursion tell me is it a worth while day at the beach and pool there and to share your thoughts.

  5. Someone out there has to have been to this place. I tried three times to contact them through their web site and twice by calling them with absolutely no response. What's going on with this place. Is it worth considering? Their site says its $59.00/daypp. I'm only going to be in Ocho Rios a total of 6.5 hrs. With pick up time and return time is it worth it?

  6. Has anyone out there been to the Bamboo Beach Clucb in Ocho Rios. My wife and I be on the Divina in May with a stop at this port and will only be there for 6.5 hrs. Very short and expensive to go to Jewel Dunns River and spend $90.00pp for maybe three hrs. Bamboo Beach Club may be a ot more reasonable as far as their pricing.

  7. Has anyone out there done the Chukka Beach Break off of the MSC Divina.

We are going to be in Ocho Rios only 6.5 hrs and I looked at the day pass for two at the Jewel Dunn's River and it was $90.00pp and we would only get maybe three hrs there after pickup and traveling. Too much money for such a short time there. MSC offers the Chukka beach break and all my wife and I want to do is enjoy on a nice beach and not be bothered.

  8. Wiil be on the Divina in May stopping at the Port of Ocho Rios. Used to go to the Sunset Beach Resort. There are new owners and there is a minimum of three night stay. Any other suggestions for the same activity close to the port?

  9. Shows and entertainment are better on NCL (Breakaway). Food was better on Divina. For kids it's better on the Getaway because of pool activities. Indoor pool is a plus for the Divina in case the weather goes sour. Balcony cabin was a little bigger and layed out better on the Divina. Price is much better on Divina. Just booked the Divina for this May for a western sailing with a mid ship balcony at less than $1500.00 for two.

  10. If you are booked on the seconde seating which I believe is 8:30pm and you want to see the evening show than you need to go to the earlier show. If you went to dinner and wanted to go to the later show you would never make it.

  11. My wife and I sailed on the Divina Oct 2014 and loved it and have done three more cruises on other lines since with a total of 19. My question is about the entertainment on board. Last we sailed they had they Michael Jackson review (fabulous) and the Frank Sinatra show as well as others. Can any of the recent Divina travelers tell me about the current entertainment and what shows they have?

  12. I have sailed the Divina as well as four other cruise lines and they pretty much all work alike. The Divina sails I think at 7pm from Miami so you will have plenty of time between your muster drill and the first seating of dinner. Muser is usually between 4-5pm. When you do your pre cruise paperwork all the info is given by you that you print out. Before boarding you will receive a sea pass that is your lifeline while aboard the ship and getting off and on the ship. There is no cash used while on the ship to buy or pay for anything. It all goes on your account and unless you do not want to pay by credit card it will automatically be charged and the end of the cruise. If you wish to pay by cash at the end of the cruise than you can do so at the main desk and they will give you a receipt. You can also receive a receipt for all transactions made anytime during the cruise and at the end. The Heeb

  13. You got my curiosity about your cabin fridge. They are normally stocked with an assortment (I think 6 cans) of soda, several bottles of water (including sparkling water), beer and we even had a cider. And if you want a different selection you only need call Room Service and give them your request (you only pay for what you drink). We also thought the lack of any cup holders in the theaters was a design faux pas.

    Hank

My frig. as well as the friends we were traveling with never had any sodas, beer or any other drinks stocked in our refrigerators.

  14. Thanks for your report.

The lunch you describe sounds like the Horizon buffet on deck 16, not the International Cafe on deck 5.

You are absolutely correct! That's what happens when your tired and trying to remember everyhring and trying to be as exact as possible.

  15. totally disagree with your views about the shows, fiera and the soul to soul shows were outstanding. yes cupholders would have been nice but why do people have to drink at the show, they only last about 45mins.

Not sure what you are talking about with the two shows and as far as the cup holders go as long as they serve either sodas, water or alcoholic beverages before the show starts it would be nice to have some place to put it. That's why they also put cup holders in cars so you do not have to frive with the drink in your hand.

  16. I have gone on 19 cruises so far since 2005 and have been on RCL, NCL, Celebrity, MSC, and Princess twice and my last cruise was one of the best. !0/3-9/15 took the Regal out of Bklyn NY. For me it was so easy especially since I grew up in Bklyn and now live in south Jersey. Parking and embarkation was so easy. This was a Canada/NE cruise. Lines moved quickly and we were in this beautiful and elegant ship in no time at all. Muster drill was like all the others but painless. Our first but not last lunch in the International Cafe was great with a lot of choices and a were good including the fresh cut off the bone roasts etc. Plenty of seating but you do have to look around for a table at times. Try going out back and sitting outside to enjoy the fresh sea air. You won't regret it. We had lunch and dinner once at Alfredo's which had excellent pizza and service. The Calzone was also very good and all with no charge. We ate one of the nights at the Crown Grill and my wife and I thought it was top notch with great steaks, appetizers, and desserts. If you enjoy steaks make this is stop on your list. We had Anytime dining with our friends and we ate in the Concerto dining room and our waiter was terrific. We never had to ask him twice for anything. His name was Anil and next time I cruise on the Regal I'm going back to him. You cannot have seating in the Concerto room before 7:30 and if you are with a group and want to see the 9:15pm show it could be a problem. Anil never rushed us but he did make sure that we did not miss the shows. The choices and the food in the main dining room was superb and step up from other cruises and cruise lines that we have been on. The ship is beautiful and very easy to get around on. Our cabin was on deck 10 just at the elevators and it was perfect. Our cabin had a balcony but was just a little tight. Bathroom and shower was fine and plenty of closet space. Good TV with lots of late night movies to watch. My bed was a little hard for my back but the steward kept adding pads to the mattress to soften it and to make me feel more comfortable. Only water in the cabin frig. No candy, soda, beer etc. That was different and maybe tough for those who are looking for those late night snacks. Not me! Did not use the balcony as much as I do when I am in the Caribbean but when we were in St. John NB Canada my back was acting up so we stayed on the ship and sat out on our balcony and enjoyed the warm fall day. All the ports were great especially Bar Harbor Maine. Did not use the pool because it was not in the 80's but so daring souls did and I was told that it was pretty cool. Wonderful seating around the pool with circular conversation seating. The entertainment was very good. Not the best I have seen but still very good. The Princess Regal theater was very comfortable and spacious. No cup holders on the seats so if you have a drink you have to hold it. The cruise director was very good and told some really good funny stories. The only negative thing I can say about the cruise and the ship is that they need to make the second show later than 9:15. If you go to eat in the main dining rooms or specialty its a rush to finish and to get to the show.

  17. This is a tough question since the Regal Princess has yet to set to port in the US. We will be cruising on her on Oct 3rd out of Bklyn NY on a seven day to NE/Canada and was wondering if anyone has any ideas as to when the Formal night might be. It would help if you have been on the Royal Princess for a seven day and I believe the formal night might be the same.

  18. Everyone here is either all stirred up against the new NCL ships or they are for them and the cruise line. I'm not partial to any one cruise line but I will say that every ship and cruise line can be different from the others. Some have bad features and some good. For instance, regarding the balconies. I've been on the Breakaway twice not and I look at the balcony as one where you do not have to entertain people you do not want to. That's why they have 10-15 bars and lounges. Yes the balcony is smaller than what I have been used to on other ships but it's not a deal breaker. I took the Breakaway the first time to Bermuda on a seven day and this past Feb. took her on a ten day caribbean cruise. I have been on eighteen cruises and have been on Celebrity, NCL, RCL, Princes. I'm booked to go on the Regal Princes in Oct. (Two months from now) and on the Royal Princes in Jan. 2016 for a ten day. Did I consider the balcony? Not at all. The cruise line and the overall ship and the destinations and originating port, yes. I'm not partial to Princes though they are a good cruise line but I looked to see what the cruise had to offer me. Let's get back to the Breakaway. NY hot dog stands, and massive outdoor water park for the kids, and some adults. A restaurant lined boardwalk and fireworks at sea. Want entertainment they have it on this ship. Every cruise I have been on in the past when you see the last theater show than what do you do? Fats Cats an amazing Jazz and Blues bar and than there is the huge casino and Headliners having the Comedy Club and Dueling Pianos. Lets not forget the center atrium lounge with the performers Fire and Ice. They were just terrific and I looked forward every night and till late at night to see them perform. Have the munchies and its really late than there is O'Sheehans which has some good finger food and soups and sandwiches. Breakaway has a beautiful Manhattan room with a band and a dance floor where entertainers sometimes perform. The main theater was very large and very comfortable with good entertainment. Cirque Dreams is a great way to go for entertainment and dinner. Let's not forget there is at least ten dinning options that were all good. On our ten day we had the Specialty dining package and liked and loved all the restaurants we went to. I'm going to stop here but let's not all quibble about the small things. Cruises are wonderful and we have so many options in ships and cruise lines and we should keep out options open as well as our minds.
