The question is how are consumers affording this?

There's no more cash-out refinancing, stock market has been less consistent (and many even relatively recently took big losses when re-allocating to fixed incomes with high interest rates), and many consumers are feeling the squeeze from many directions.

It's just bizarre to me that cruise prices are exploding when it seems like there'd be a lot of pressure for the opposite.

Totally agree with you. The cruise I was pricing is $2000 more. In this day and age people can't afford it. We are on a limited retired budget.

  2. Does anyone else think these cruise prices are way too high right now? We are Platinum with RCCL and Princess so we've been on many cruises. The last one for us was Alaska (our 3rd or 4th to Alaska) in Aug of 2021. Usually we could go to Alaska inside passage 7 days for around $3000 or less for two. Now it's in the $4000-$5000 range! What's up with that?!?!

Anyone feel like they're WAY overpriced now? 🤔

We’re on Harmony now. Just left a beautiful day in Falmouth, headed toward Labadee. It was sunny and gorgeous this morning in Jamaica and yesterday at sea, is pouring rain now as we travel toward Haiti. It was cloudy and rainy in Nassau and CocoCay, too. But we avoided any hurricane-related stormy weather/seas, which we’re grateful for.

Just read on the news that Ian is in the Atlantic headed back toward SC and GA. We live in the northeast suburbs of Atlanta, so seems we really dodged this hurricane multiple times. Although Atlanta doesn’t get hurricanes. We typically just get rain and some strong gusts from the outermost bands.

That is great news! Thanks for reporting. Our daughter and family are on your ship and are from just north of the Atlanta area. I've been talking to her through text and they are having a wonderful time! So glad your seas are calm and you were able to make all your ports. Now if MCO is back up and working by Sunday you'll be all good. Enjoy the rest of your cruise.

I’m on Harmony right now. We’re sticking to our original western Caribbean itinerary. We were in CocoCay today (Monday), headed to Nassau Tuesday. Falmouth, Jamaica Thurs and Labadee, Friday. It was cloudy in CocoCay, with sun peeking through about half the day. Rain stayed away til we were pulling away from the island this evening.

Thank you so much for posting. So glad your on track. Praying it stays that way. Feel free to post again for updates. LOL!!😃😅 Enjoy!😎

  5. I am currently on the Majestic. Aug 22nd sailing.

We are Platinum members. We booked just the balcony cabins. On other Princess ships the balconies seem larger than these. We got two upset offers. First $199pp to upgrade to mini suite. Then about a week later $119pp to mini suite. We didn't take either offer. We got on ship and asked about upgrading and they said no "free" upgrades.

If I would have know then how small the standard balconies were, I would have upgraded. By the time on ship there weren't any mini's that I wanted. It's all about location for us.

So my advice would be..do the upgrade to mini if location is good.

I just talked to Princess Special Needs dept. about an hour ago (3:00 pm EST).  The mattress pads are NOT available due to health/sanitation reasons (pre-covid).

I got the PCL pad for several years, but PCL eliminated them about the time they got the new & improved beds.

However, I really need the pad so I bring my own.  I've had it for 8-10 years.  It rolls into a small duffle-bag like size & goes into a heavy plastic bag that zips.  I got it at Target.

Good luck & enjoy your cruise.

Oh no!! Disappointed in that but I can certainly understand. Glad you got your own.

You could try requesting the mattress pad through their special needs department. But unless you will need to go to bed immediately on embarkation, you should be fine asking your room steward on the day. I've never heard of a ship running out of blankets.

Just looked at the app. Where would I go to find the special needs? This app is confusing to me. Thanks

I took the ID-NOW rapid test for Hawaii.  I would think Princess would accept this.  My friend has sailed twice with Celebrity and both times he got the ID-NOW at Walgreens and it was accepted by Celebrity.

My husband and I have the covid test at 11am and that is the kind we are getting at Walgreens. I sure hope it's acceptable. I am taking the print out from Princess to the appt to make sure. I guess I'll find out in a couple hours!!😬
