For anyone concerned about testing because it's new to you,

CVS ,  Walgreens and Curative are all legitimate options for the guidelines that Princess has laid out.

Princess has said they will take PCR or Antigen test.

Antigen is a quick test that allows you to receive your results same day

If you take a PCR test, I recommend getting 2 from different locations just in case one gets damaged or lost.

All these tests are medically observed even if they are self collected, as in you are taking this test in person in front of a medical professional. The person on site guides you through the process with strict instructions.

In person tests are FREE at CVS, Walgreens and Curative and Tests are allowed for travel purposes, you don't have to say you have symptoms to get tested.

All of these will ask for your health insurance information and submit a  claim to see if it can be approved if not it is paid through a government funded program.

Free for those with insurance and without

I posted these links but I'm sharing again so they are all in one place.

I have been testing often  for work over the last year and a half.

This process  may seem overwhelming now but I promise it  isn't that difficult at all.

Your results are emailed to you.

***the only exception would be at home testing that doesn't involve a zoom call with a medical professional

This DOES help! Thank you for the info.👍

LOL, maybe...but the statement says 3 days and not 72 hours. This is done for a reason: Not to hamstring the person operating within that time frame to be concerned as to exactly what time must I get the shot relative to what time I embark. By using 3 days instead of 72 hrs, one has more flexibility in meeting the time requirements. So, if you embark on Sunday, the earliest or soonest you must have the test done is on any of the 3 days before Sunday, meaning anytime Fri, Sat, or Thur.

Exactly!! Where are people coming up with 72 hours??🤔

Maybe they are only sending the notices to folks who require testing.  We didn't get one for our August 8th cruise but I would think that people would want to know so they could take a supply of masks along.  I'm also wondering what the masking policy will be for smokers.  They say that masks must be worn except while eating and drinking.  They do allow smoking in the casino and I'm kind of hoping this means that this will kill smoking indoors during the length of this policy.

That's because it doesn't start until Aug 15th cruises.

  4. I FINALLY got my Medallion Net purchased over the phone with the 844-525-0942 rep. So THANK YOU Musky Ike for posting that info. Absolutely crazy how one day you can and one you can't!! And that's not even using the app!🤪 Now my fingers are crossed and prayers said that we even get to go on this cruise!! 18 days and counting!!😄👍

Purchased yesterday ( August 2nd) over the phone with a Princess Rep. on the medallion support line (844-525-0942) as I was also trying to resolve some issues there.. After I had tried in a previous phone call to the Princess 800 number where it "wasn't in the system".  I guess you just have to keep trying until you get someone who knows where to look or who to talk to.

That's crazy!! Are you getting wifi in a promotion or just purchasing it out right?

I purchased it three days ago. It was $69.93 for my week-long cruise. I'll get back 50% in OBC in three weeks. Here's a screenshot from my credit card as well as how the package shows up online:

Hmm..well apparently as of today, July 31st, they no longer have it. Perhaps it will show up in their system soon. Glad you got in on it before it disappeared.

That rep was incorrect.  I called 800 Princess to purchase my internet at $9.99 for x days with 50% as refundable OBC.

But of course....things change daily.  I would make a phone call to have someone else help you.  There are two options:  1.  reserve internet and pay with Final Payment.  2.  order internet and pay the same day.  Not trusting Princess, I opted for #2.  It shows up on my Onboard Services as paid.

Nope. I called 800 Princess and they do not have it in their system to even sell. You CAN NOT purchase the MedillionNet prior to the cruise as of now. If someone does moving forward, please get a name of who you purchased from.

I purchased mine this week by calling. It's $69.93 for my 7-day cruise. I'll get 50% back in OBC. It's crazy that Princess took away this option online.

This ALL aggravates me! First because they took it away, secondly, because nobody knows the rules!! I went to copy and paste my conversation with the rep I chatted with and before I could do that, the conversation was gone! UGH!! I really want to wait til I get onboard because I don't need all 7 days! I am going to be SO mad if I get on there and it's more!😡

  9. I was just told by a live chat rep..that you can not purchase a internet pkg pre=cruise. It has to be purchased once onboard and the price will be $9.99 for 1 device and platinum/elite get 50% off this price. So you CAN NOT purchase ahead of time.

    • Haha 1
  10. So I am Platinum and talked with a Princess rep and ask about getting the wifi pkg for 50% off. My specific question to her was would it be the same price onboard as it is pre-cruise. She said yes it would. But reading here, it may not be. I was really only going to get the internet for like the last 5 days but don't want to pay more by waiting. I don't see on the Medallion app or personalizer where to even purchase the wifi pkg. We sail Aug 22nd.

This has been the topic of conversation for the past month.  You might want to search the threads for the discussions...

I do not like the search field since it's changed. Can't find anything. There used to be a search field for each topic, not it seems it's just search at the top right of the page. I tried searching this topic first and couldn't find anything. Am I doing something wrong? I hope I am🤔

Having cruised Alaska before I know "dress up evenings" are more casual. Does it appear that dress slacks and a long sleeved, collared dress shirt is enough? We're on the August 8th departure.

Even jeans are acceptable now a days in MDR even on formal nights. We don't even take formal clothes anymore. We "dress up" one time, take pics and that's it. May not even do the photo's this time. We're just over all that stuff. To each there own.

I am fortunate (or crazy enough) to be on the inaugural Princess 2021 Alaska sailings out of Seattle with a really great roll call group on CC that are going to join me in posting to this thread.  If you are on this sailing but not on the roll call, I hope you will also contribute.

We know there are a lot of very valid questions and concerns folks have about what this Alaska season will be like. What I love about live from feeds that have multiple contributors on the same sailing is the various different experiences and point of views presented.  While I appreciate the professional CC, Points Guy etc reviews and live feeds they are, by design, one dimensional.

Our experiences may differ from future sailings as policies, protocols and procedures will most likely be in flux as Princess finds what works (hopefully the the supply chain to restock the bar after we disembark) and what doesn’t (the ap, really?—-what were they thinking?) or as health advisories (OMG don’t even think Delta variant) change.

These are some topics that the roll call group (and hopefully others on our sailing) will try to address on this cruise.  I can not guarantee all will get discussed but hopefully most will.

Please refrain from asking a lot of premature questions if you can.  Try to wait until we are at that stage of the cruise. For example now we might be able to answer questions you have about how we got cruise ready and on Day 2 we could answer questions about All things Embarkation.   Questions about disembarkation would be best posted on our last day at sea.  Otherwise your questions might get buried and forgotten.

    1. Getting Cruise Ready and how we fixed problems we had.  Maybe we will have hindsight on what to get worried about and what to just let go once we board.

    2. All things embarkation: airport expedience, hotel experiences, transportation to the pier, arrival groups (how strict are they?), Elite/suite priority boarding, Blue lane, green lane and is there really a yellow lane (like I was given for a moment in time), showing proof of vaccination and all other travel docs, which MDR is open for lunch, when were the rooms ready (remember we have no disembarking PAX so YMMV).

    3. Dining  Menus for all dining rooms/restaurants/pop ups and room service.  I believe we have some Full Suite in our group so hopefully we will get to see any special menus they get.  Wait times for Anytime, how the reserved times worked (they are every 20 minutes on Dine My Way), is there a chef’s table??????………………….can we dine with others outside of our travel group?

    4. Journey View, Entertainment and reservations: I am so curious as to how this will work.  There is a midnight skies event that holds 35 people and it had no spaces left like 5 minutes after it opened.  What happens if show up to a “sold out” event? Can I still just wonder from venue to venue enjoying 10 minutes of this band or spending 20 minutes dancing in another venue like I used to?

    5. Internet prices and how to purchase, elite/platinum pricing,  what is the speed

    6. Patters if they exist.  I really hope they do since they answer so. many. questions.

    7. Capacity  hopefully we will find out how full the ship is.

    8. Ocean Now Food, Drinks & Shopping okay I will be one of the first to order a drink (with my beverage package) and wait in my room! How well does the ap work around the ship.

    9. How does Princess enforce the restrictions on the unvaccinated?

If you happen to walk by the internet desk, can you ck and see if it's still $9.99/day for 1 device? I just learned that Platinum members no longer get their free wifi mins you get 50% off of the pkgs. Just wondering if any price difference ordering ahead of time or same once onboard.

Thanks! Enjoy the rest of your cruise.

The security photo has to be a selfie. You should see an "outline" to put your face in. If you don't see the outline you got bumped past the security photo to the profile photo. You can't upload an existing photo for the security photo.

I did that! Like 5 times, all clear pics. All within the marks

Didn't scan for me. I entered all the info manually and it has a green check mark. I've thought about removing all the passport info to see if it offers me another chance to scan the passport but it seems that, since I do have a green check mark, it likely doesn't really need the scan.

I finally got it to work after about 30 times. I did uninstall and re-install. But now it won't take my security photo. Geez!!

  16. I'm using an android phone and trying to "scan" my passport but not sure how to do it. Do you touch to take pic or does it do it automatically? Can't seem to get it to work and I know I need to have it in there.

    Thanks!

Not trying to hijack this thread, as I feel (hope?) this is a related question...but has anyone that has cruised out of Seattle used the Light Rail service to return back to SecTac AFTER their cruise?

Since our cruise will be going out of Pier 91, I know we'll be looking likely a a taxi or Uber/Lyft to get from the hotel TO the pier...but wondering if most folks just go from the Pier directly to SecTac again via taxi/Uber/Lyft, or if you can still save a good amount by getting ground transportation back to whatever would be the closest Light Rail station (to Pier 91), and then using the Light Rail to travel back to SecTac?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts, or experiences, anyone can share!

That is what I thought we would do to save some money, however, I didn't realize the light rail is about 3 1/2 miles from Pier 91. So we have decided to use Seattle Express from Pier 91 back to SeaTac. Our flight leaves at noon so we don't have time to explore. Seattle Express is $20pp and an additional savings of 10% for AAA, AARP, Senior, military. Hope this helps.
