  1. I can't answer the question about San Sebastian but can answer the specialty restaurant question.  You can't make reservations in the specialty restaurants until you are onboard.  It's usually the first thing that we do once we get onboard.

  2. Yes, they are having Azamazing evenings again.  If you log into your account, you should be able to find your event in the shore excursions.  You can book it through your account as well.

  3. We have booked Onward for January 2023 that ends with an overnight in Lima, Peru.  We can get a flight that departs at 2:30am on the last day which would mean leaving the ship the night before disembarkation.  I know that you would have to let guest relations know so that you can settle up if necessary.  Has anyone done this?  We have been to Lima before and have no interest in spending another full day there.  Thanks!

They do. They will even add hot chocolate mix to it for a mocha, and ice cream if you ask. Best coffee on the ship by far. We have a 10 year running battle with the restaurant director and the coffee served in the MDR. It's lightyears better in Mosaic, regardless of what you order.

Totally agree.  And, when we were on in November and February I thought that the coffee in Prime C was worse than the MDR.  I found it unpalatable in the specialty restaurant.  Not sure why.

We’ve sailed with Azamara twice since the world has opened up, spending nearly a month on Quest last fall and then another cruise in March.  We had an embarkation change just weeks before traveling, we had ever changing restrictions.  We had multiple tests on all three cruises in the fall, but had to because of each country’s different requirements.  Stressful, absolutely.  But you know what, traveling still even now is going the stressful because no one knows what the future holds.  Our March cruise was more forgiving as we only needed the embarkation test.  We had supply issues and staffing issues both times out and we still had a wonderful time.  We chose to cruise knowing there would surely be shortcomings and we chose to accept them, because we were cruising again!  We are spending another month on Azamara this summer, knowing there will surely be supply issues and staffing issues and who knows what else.  Who knows what the future holds .  I for one am not going to stress and worry about tests and tonic water and what’s included and what isn’t.  It’s all minor and alternatives can be worked out.  We’re blessed to have a future of travel to look forward to.

I agree with all of the above.  We were on Quest in November and again in February.  The November cruise had to rank as one of our most enjoyable.  While the world gets back up and running, I am willing to deal with all of the issues that supply chain disruptions and labor force shortages are causing just for the opportunity to experience something that feels normal.  As things get fully back to some semblance of normal, then I will expect businesses like Azamara to get their acts together and fully deliver what we have come to expect.

Can you upgrade from Premium to Ultimate before you board, or do you have to wait until you are on board?

When I was on the Quest in February I was told that you had to wait until you are onboard.

When we were on the Quest in November, we got quotes for 4 different cruises including the World Cruise. Our TA was never notified what cruises we were looking at. When we booked, we were asked if we wanted to use the same TA as we had used in the past. As far as we were concerned, the sale was closed onboard when we made our deposit. If our TA pressured us while on a cruise or not on a cruise, we would be looking for a new TA.

We were on the Quest in January and booked 7 cruises and had the same experience as PirateWife.  Each time we were asked if we wanted the booking transferred to the agent on our current booking.  We have a great agent so agreed - but each time we were asked.  Also, never had an issue getting a quote for various cabin types and cruises.  It's a shame that others have had issues.

Agree. It’s been a good cruise but not the best. It’s clear they aren’t sailing as before. They say “oh it’s because we’ve not got enough guests”

Other silly things like no breakfast allowed at all on the back verandah- really? (They said then that was weather related but several mornings were warm enough)

In January they closed the back verandah for breakfast because someone in an owners suite on deck 8 was complaining about the noise.   That lasted a day and then they allowed it to be open beginning at 8am.  I would be annoyed if it was not open at all - my favorite place for breakfast!

I am booked into one in January  it was sold as a Veranda plus and is on the Onward deck plan as such.  I have compared the deck plan 8  with Quest and there are two extra cabin on each side on the Onward  (a recent poster said that these extra cabins were being added in dry dock).  The mystery is why are these new cabins classed as Veranda Plus not Continent Suites?  These cabins are available to book on other Onward sailings now but on the January cruise they are all sold.  PS Like you, I was on the Quest in February  and loved it!

Thanks for the info.  When we booked, while on board, Matthew was unable to get any info on those cabins.  We did book a P1 (aft cabin, deck 7) but none of those 8800's showed as being bookable.  I guess that AZ figured it all out!  The February cruise was great fun - one of the reasons that we booked the Onward for next January.

  10. We were on Quest in February and asked about booking one of these.  Matthew said that he had repeatedly asked for additional information about those cabins and had not been given any info at that point.  Said that he was unable to book those for people as they had not been given any guidance.  On the website the color of those cabins make them look like they are veranda cabins but they don't actually show up anyplace.

Just excuses for a multi-million dollar company that is not doing its job well. (This was also the case with Crystal Cruises before the sunk.) The website can be updated quickly, as other cruise lines do. They aren't updating uploaded PDF files; they would be adjusting electronically created files, which in 2022 is quick to do.

And no one is expecting them to go to a war torn area, but the product paid for is NOT the product they can deliver. A total Black Sea circumnavigation cruise (such as on July 30th and others) is not the same as one that goes to Greek ports instead. It is not frustration, but it is pointing out that Azamara needs to admit that they are not able to deliver the product for which a premium price had been paid and need to either (1) adjust the price or (2) allow easy cancellation.  THAT is the point.

If you worked with a car dealer to purchase an expensive car, but on delivery you received one in the wrong color and a downgraded model, would you simply say you were frustrated, or would you expect either the car you ordered or a price reduction?

Are you covered under the 48 hour cancel for any reason?

We got the Premium package as part of our sale promotion.

Will I be able to upgrade my package (just mine, DW doesn't drink) to Ultimate for $7/day?

And if you have one of the packages do you get a discount on wine by the bottle or a Wine Package?

On our February Caribbean cruise you could pay the difference and then get the loyalty discount to upgrade the premium liquor package to the ultimate package.  Also, if you want to you can upgrade the Essentials package, that is being offered on so many bookings, to the Indulgence package once onboard.  I wish that they would let you do this prior to boarding so that you could use the shore excursion credit ahead of time.

Over on Azamara FB, a lot of people complaining that on boarding yesterday in Miami, the speciality restaurants were already weight listed before they even had a chance to make a booking and apparently only 300 or so on board.

Not sure why this would be. Does anyone who boarded in Miami yesterday have any info? Thanks.

There were more than 60 people staying on for a b2b cruise.  It's possible they booked up the specialty restaurants before anyone else boarded.  Just a thought.
