That's refreshing to hear. Thanks for reporting back. We sail on her for 18 days this April.
-
-
Then why did you post this?
Exactly...this thread should be deleted. OP, just post when and if you're ready.
-
Looks like the Solstice wont be converting until after the HNL-Van cruise in April. You wont be able to get all the Mol drinks, but a decent smattering of them anyways. Drink on!

We have had refunds from Celebrity for Port Fee adjustments, the latest being out Equinox Feb 1, 2016 cruise. The amount was minimal around $3.00 each.
I'm a little reluctant to pillory the Hotel Manager based only on the information at hand.
I'd really like to have been a fly on the wall and heard the conversation as it played out. Tone, content, escalation usually are not provided as is the case here. While I am sure the O.P. is reporting their experience to the best of their recollection, I can't be the judge jury and executioner based on the report of one side of a conversation.
I have no doubt at all the O.P. is advising as closely as she recalls the conversation, but as I say before I would censure anybody I would want to have all of the information.
I would expect all of us would appreciate the same consideration if we were sitting on the Hotel Managers side of the table.
Well said, and I agree.

There is supposedly a form you can fill out at Guest Relations to have your OBC given as tips.
Agree, and sorry, no more cashing it out.

I thought all the Solstice class ships were pretty much alike. Thanks for your response.
Yes, and no. The Solstice, Equinox, Eclipse Have the exact same deck plans. The Silhouette and the Reflection are identical in the fact that Deck 12 (the Resort Deck) has staterooms that continue all the way forward. Essentially, the Reflection and the Silhouette have an extra deck. Go to the X site and check out the deck plans.

Do the gratitude benefit the staff OR the cruise line?
From time to time the question of distribution of gratuities comes up so I did some research on previous threads and found the following:
Gratuity of 12.50 per day
Waiters : 3.65
Asst Waiters 2.10
Dining Rm Management 1.00
Stateroom 3.50 extra 50 cents for concierge and Aqua
Other service personnel 1.25
Total 12.50
• $12.95 per person, per day in standard staterooms
• $13.45 per person, per day in Concierge Class and AquaClass® staterooms
• $16.45 per person, per day in Suite Class
Looks like it all goes to staff. We still tip over and above to the ones that "stand out" for us as well, but that's a whole other discussion.

Celebrity are offering two free perks on their cruises right now. Drink Package, $300.00 on board credit, free gratuities or free internet. You can choose 2 out of the 4.
I f the OP is referring to the Tahitian Treasures (transpacific), he can't, they're exempt from this promotion and most others.
I was taken back from price of the package as well, but being of the mindset, and previous cruise experience, it's easy for me and my wife to get our 6-8 drinks in a day. First off, you're going to have days where you drink more and drink less so I figure its a wash. A typical day on the ship for us each would include, morning gym (1 bottle of water), Fresh squeezed OJ or other juice at breakfast, 1-2 speciality coffees, Another bottle of water or a soda for lunch, 2-4 beers in the afternoon. Pre dinner cocktail/beer at the passport bar. 1-2 glasses of nice wine at dinner, Martini and Molecular bar post dinner, water before bed.
So as you can see we will get are moneys worth paying for it in advance, and always have on other cruises.
The other nice feature of a drink package, is you can try new drinks with without the obligation of having to finish them just so you don't waste your money.
No this being said...This work for us, by no means am I implying everyone should get the package...different strokes for different folks!

Thanks...I was hoping we could get away with one more cruise with some MB drinks...guess not.
-
Just wondering if any recent cruisers know the status of the Molecular bar transition. We are doing the Transpacific in April and would like to know what to expect. We were on the Silhouette in December and the transition hadn't occurred yet, so we were able to get some, but not all, of the past MB selections.

There is a pull down in a mini-suite? Mmm....never saw this; but again, I haven't been on the Escape.
This is what I'd like to confirm, and thanks for the replies.
-
Hello fellow cruisers. Currently we (a family of 4, 2 kids aged 15 and 13) are booked on the Escape in Dec 2016. We have booked a midship mini suite. We have never sailed NCL and are looking forward to it. My question is, will this stateroom sleep us all comfortably? It says it will accommodate 4, but looking at the stateroom plans, I'm unsure. Have any other families sailed in one stateroom on the Escape? What would be our most comfortable option? The Haven option is out as it will be too expensive. Also, any reviews out there for stateroom 14788? Any help and/or advice would be much appreciated as NCL is completely new to us.

Thanks for the tips and advice everyone. Looks like we might just scrap the whale watching excursion in the morning, rent a car, and plan a road trip.
-
Hello all! I hope you all can provide my wife and I with some helpful transportation options while we are in Lahaina for the day (8:00am til 11:00pm).
We have booked a Whale watching adventure (1/2) day morning tour upon our arrival. I believe the tour boat leaves from the same vicinity that the tenders come in. When we finish that tour we would like to go to Maluaka Beach to do some snorkleing for a few hours. What be our best option for commuting? Rental car, taxi, other? Any help would be appreciated.

Is that 600Mbs ship wide bandwidth or are there multiple channels? If the former, it is not very much for the needs of a modern cruise ship.
Aircraft likely use very similar technology as cruise ships. An airplane has less than 1,000 people aboard. A cruise ship can have over 7,000 people aboard. Big difference in bandwidth requirements.
There's a cruise ship that holds over 7000 people?

Looking at RCL TAs now
Same here...about 1500.00 cheaper w/300.00 OBC
-
Wow. Some sale. Is it even a sale if there is no discount in the fares? You have to pay the full fare at some point, so 25.00 deposits aren't a big deal. Just a thought, if one can afford to go on a X cruise, is the normal deposit amount that much of a bank breaker? I was dreaming if a 123go promo for black/cyber

Hi pugdad1.
Have you been on the roll call thread?
not recently

My travel companions (children, spouse or co-travelers) are not Global Entry members; can they come through the Global Entry kiosk with me?
No, only Global Entry members can use the Global Entry kiosk.
-
WOO HOO!!!! Global Entry has arrived at Port Everglades.
Are all 4 of you "global entry"?
I am, but my daughter who is sailing with me next month isn't.
I'm assuming just me is good enough to get us through the cruise tsa agents?
thanks for review and your insights.
I think your daughter would have to go through the regular TSA agent. I imagine (could be wrong) it would be like crossing the boarder in a vehicle, everyone in the vehicle has to have a NEXUS card. Good question though.

We are just off the Silhouette on Sunday (the 22nd) and booked another cruise on this wonderful ship yesterday (the 23rd). We've sailed on the Solstice (twice) and the Reflection, but this ship has a magical aura about it. Enjoy!!
Quick question for you then....Molecular Bar or World class Bar?...or a combination of both? Did you visit this venue? We leave on the Dec 6th sailing.

I think the perk is an extra day!:D
As others have said TA's and TP's don't get the perks.
Is this the Mar 29, 2016 on Millennium? We are on this cruise.

I would imagine Australia/NZ area as the Solstice is the S-class exclusive down there.
