  1. We board in 3 days. I have 500 minutes of internet and plan to post every day- will answer Q's as best as I can- I won't post any pics until after we get back- our POC are PC, St Thomas,St Kitts, St Lucia, Barbados and Antigua. We have been to all the islands multiple times. Our plans are- PC-duh:cool:, St Thomas- after over a dozen times and multiple times to St John and multiple daysails- we'll head to Sapphire so I can snorkel. St Kitts- again multiple times, land tours, cats and a tour of Nevis- this time a Cat with Leeward Island Tours- snorkel and beach time in Nevis. St Lucia, first time with Herod- amazing, then a number of snorkeling/ beach excursions- last time an Eco tour with Mysticman- whale/dolphin watch-and beach- this time another tour with Cosol. Barbados- have done an island tour,, and beaches, Lobster Alive, Antigua- again- have done island tours- this time most likely Jolly Beach. Heard that with the new show Princess and CC will have reps on this sailing- so I may have to go to both the show and M&G :D

Tomorrow we pack, Tuesday our flight is at 1 pm-arrive 4:30- hotels are expensive this week- or booked solid. Even though we don't get in until late-ish I didn't want a hotel that was just a 'hotel' and cheap- nothing on the strip available- so I splurged and got one on the beach- Plunge ( resort fee is a downer ). Location is also a minus as far as cab fees go. looked into Hollywood hotels too- just as far from the pier and not as nice

  2. I'm booked on the Ruby for a 5 night cruise for Feb 26 and still do not have a guarantee assignment.Yesterday there were several cabins available and today none.TA checked with Princess and said it is now in inventory control so apparently they are sold out and will assign the guarantees. They said it could be as late as when you get to the pier.Hope not.

I just heard about the 'Move Over' and see how it's a win- win. I've been looking at the available cabins for the last week- many aren't a big upgrade. I know I will at least get a BD, I would like to print out my luggage tags with a cabin number on them:cool:

  3. as you're approaching by tender, you will see a red pavilion on the far left. This is where the best snorkeling is.

I don't understand- to the left is the sailboat and watersport Beach, Swimming Area and North Beach or on the other side is the Mangroves

  4. I asked this on the Bahamas Board with no answers. The map shows a beach area ( Little Bay ) located to the right after getting off and over the bridge that's noted as a snorkeling area- is this true- can one snorkel here, or is it just really a calm swimming area

    thanks

  5. It's been a while since our last Princess cruise. Elite benefits include 'internet credit', does the credit vary by length of cruise? We will be on the 10 day Royal in a couple of weeks. We were able to switch out the mini bar for a bottle of wine last time. Does anyone know what wine(s) are offered as substitutes. Is the wine tasting usually on a sea day- what time of day?

    Thanks

  6. If you have early dining, you will go to the late show. If you have late dining, you go to the early show. The shows are timed so that while one group is eating, the show is going on. There is a brief time where there are family activities in between the two.

So, if we have late- 8pm dining- the early show would 7, 6:45 or 6:30?

  7. Whether you do early dinner/late show or late dinner/early show is really a personal matter. Does it bother you more if a child falls asleep during the show or during dinner? The late show ends by 9pm' date=' so it isn't all that late...but might be too late for the youngest even with a nap.

It is easy to do a 4pm snack before the early show, so if someone sleeps thru dinner that isn't such a big deal.

If you want to change to early dinner, call DCL (your TA will need to do this if you used one) and ask to be waitlisted for main seating.[/quote']

If the late show ends by 9 pm- how could we possibly get to see it with an 8 pm dining time?

  8. We'll be taking our first Disney cruise with the grandkids on the Dream this coming August- they will be 8, 6, and 2- we are confirmed for the 2nd seating.

On all our other cruises the show times were 8pm and 9:30- so we would go after dinner.

With Disney being a family/ child friendly line, will we be able to see shows before dinner or should we switch to main seating and hope the young one's will be able to stay awake for a later show

    Thanks

  9. I believe all =X= ships are on a 14 day repeating MDR menu- although it might be adjusted for the 2 'Chic' nights- so you may want to do another search that's broader-I know that on our 7 day Bermuda cruise on the Summit the second 'chic' night ( Friday) the mdr had lobster and beef wellington- the lobster was 'eh'

  10.

Another possibility would be to contact the Roll Call and see if anyone there would be willing to be a "courier" -- again, I would not trust anything valuable to this system but if you wanted to get a letter to someone working on the Summit, perhaps someone on the Roll Call could take it to Guest Relations for you and they can get it to the crew member form there.

Hadn't thought of that- it's nothing expensive- just thought about our last cruise an how appreciative this guy was for something we gave him that had limited 'life' span- just wanted to 'renew' it

  11. On our last cruise we had free wifi for 2. We try to disconnect and just just check emails for the most part. It wasn't until our last day at sea that our favorite bar tender told us how he could only email family while in port- never had the ability to skype. I wish I knew this- I would have given this guy access to one of our free accounts and birth dates etc so he could skype with family- would have been better than a few dollars tip

  12. Ah - we are talking about a letter being mailed by the ships staff.

I would guess that somehow it did not leave the ship in a timely manner.

Maybe somebody forgot to take the mail ashore. Maybe it sat on a desk someplace. Maybe it slipped between the counter or got stuck in other papers.

The ship may have screwed up... but trusting a ship to be a postal service is not something I would ever do. Folks often talk about sending postcards to family and joke that they get home before the postcards get there.

I understand 'snail mail'- but one should do their job- nothing should sit on a desk, between a counter or stuck in papers- imagine if that happened to anything of your account on board stuff?

  13. Yes....that was very unfortunate. I hear PR is having so many financial issues which is why they want to become a full-fledged state....so they can apply for some Federal grants or aid I suppose.

Unfortunately they will not get statehood any time soon

  14. NCL never guaranteed prompt delivery, so I would say it was the OP's fault. Prompt delivery was an assumption on the OP's part. NCL mailed the deposit "when time permits".

When customers need a refund from NCL it takes weeks.. no different it this case... refunds are issued as time / staffing permits.

Hahahaha- There were several cruises that the Gem took since April 18th, with each of them visiting US ports including homeporting each time in NYC- time permits? Are you kidding?

  15. I was on same cruise as Crisp1 but my experience more closely mirrors that Sanger727. I typically logged on once a day to download emails and then again to upload my answers. Typically that only took 2 minutes each.

On a laptop in your cabin? On =X= Summit a couple of weeks ago the connection was as fast as at home with cable- NCL was awful in comparison

  16. I see...then in that case I think it would be hard to tell who is responsible for the delay. That said, if it was delivered promptly then I can't see it taking all that time. However, it had to have been delivered to the PR post office at some point while there in port or it would still be out there somewhere. So my guess is it was PR's fault, but not necessarily the norm for mail delivery. May have gotten lost at the post office, found, and then mailed. I've had that happened to mail here in the US where all of a sudden it shows up weeks later.

Old San Juan is one my favorite ports- cruising into and out of- I was devastated this past cruise to see so many stores/ businesses closed- I expect it's government offices are also affected- just never thought it would take almost 2 months for a first class letter to arrive back home
