  1. I fully understand your disappointment over the spa thing. I also understand that the weeks leading up to a wedding can be very stressful.

As someone who will soon celebrate 49 years of marriage, I sincerely hope that this is the only problem you will face as the years go by.

At age 73, I can still remember the wonderful details of our honeymoon. I can't recall any bad things, unless you consider my brother-in-laws trashing my car during the reception.

My suggestion: Take the refund, book a Mexican beach break in Cozumel. eat, drink, swim, lay in the sun and have a couple of beach massages. Pocket the money you'll

save. I think the memory will be lasting.

    Have a wonderful wedding!

  2. Did cirque on Epic a few years ago. If on main floor, try to get seat facing stage.

    Strained neck trying to watch.

Folks are making mistake by trying to compare this to "Soleil". Considering the limitations of the stage area and the fact they are doing this on a "moving target" I

thought they did a pretty good job.

Thought the dinner was okay. Nothing to get excited about.

  3. My only cruising experience outside of NCL was three with RCCI.

RCCI charges extra for specialty bakery, Starbucks coffee, ice cream treats and milkshakes at Johnny Rockets. Try getting into the Ice Bar just for a look-see. Not!

As said before, the only NCL shows that cost extra are the ones that include dinner.

Not a big fan of the huge ships due to the crowds, but I will sail prepared to deal with them.

I suspect O.P. would find the same on all but the premium lines.

  4. We did this several years ago on our first cruise on a cruise line no longer in existence.

We went to the stern one night, said a prayer and tossed the box (biodegradable before anyone knew what that meant) overboard.

It was my stepmother's remains and I couldn't think of anything more fitting since she loved the water and was an avid sailor in her youth.

  5. I think any perks are pretty much a ship-to-ship thing. I read a recent review of an Escape cruise where the poster got invited to suite reception and got assorted treats delivered to cabin.

Personally, I did a Pearl cruise a while back and got the same, but also received breakfast and lunch privileges at Moderno and concierge service.

Plus, I was checking my Latitudes points a few months later and found that I had been given "Suite points" for that cruise.

  6. Wonderful, another DSC post. Don't think I've seen one this month.

I for one could care less how the funds are disbursed. It's above my pay grade. I will

continue to happily pay the D,S.C. and in some cases give extra for great service.

This is not some nefarious money-making scheme. The cruise lines went to this system to insure that employees get a reliably expectant amount of money each week.

I am sure there is no one out there who conveniently "forgot" to leave an envelope for the steward or passed up dinner the last night to shaft the waiter, assistant waiter or the maitre'd.

  7. If you want to do something totally British, you could take bus from Wharf to Fairmont Southhampton in the afternoon. (3 to 5)

They serve afternoon tea for around $21.00 including gratuity.

The menu is online if you check their website.

I recommend taking the bus from their to Hamilton and returning to Dockyard by ferry.

Very inexpensive way to see island.

  8. Not sure that the Beyondships menues show the suite breakfast and lunch offerings.

I believe lunch and breakfast are pretty standard throughout the fleet.

    Breakfast:

Buffet with fruit and juice. Hot and cold cereals, Assorted breads and pastries. Lox and cold meats and cheeses.

The menu has eggs to order, omelets and a couple of benedicts.

Belgian waffles and French toast.. Steak and eggs.

    Lunch:

Steak and chicken. Various sandwiches. Salads

Used have shrimp cocktail, but I think this was deleted. Saw one guy having three or four one day. Maybe that had something to do with the deletion.

    Hope this helps.

  9. Not sure which itinerary you are booked for, but in either case you will have only one sea day. Consider the ship as a moveable hotel with plenty of food, drink and entertainment.

We loved the Star and her sister ship Dawn. Not overwhelmed by the number of people.

I suggest you consider a spa pass. Great place to relax and unwind after a day of touring ports.

  10. A certified copy of the birth certificate is all that is needed.

The Bermuda authorities do not check passports when you get off the ship.

If only one parent is travelling, you will need letter from other parent giving permission before boarding in U.S.

  11. I have long wondered why NCL and others ask for state of residence.before quoting prices.

Has anyone ever actually got a discount based on where they live?

Are they trying to limit the number of pax from a particular state?

Maybe they want to place them in a particular area of the ship so as not to upset others

  12. I generally take $500.00, figuring that I will lose it in the slots. Not much into table games. I figure I can afford to spend $100.00 a night for a few hours of entertainment.

If you do win a jackpot, cash out, walk around, go to the bathroom, have a drink or something to eat ( most times there is a nice little buffet set up late in the evening), but do not keep playing. The machines will ultimately win out. I just wish I could follow my own advice!

As has been said, there is not a big learning curve when it comes to the slot machines. Don't worry you'll know if you win big and so will everyone else in the casino. The machines have a big flashing light and a siren to alert everyone in the place. Alas, I don't think I have ever set it off.

  13. The nickle & dime thing is a total crock. Having sailed RCCL and NCL you have to choose what you will pay for.

On RCCL you have to pay for spa services, specialty ice cream, specialty coffee, specialty pastries, pictures and specialty dining.

On NCL you pay for the same things.

I don't consider these nickle and diming.

  14. I guess I should have said that in my original message. I do not have a problem with multiple tables adjacent to one another. I have a problem that I am being FORCED into a 5:30 dinner. And basically told tough. Even though they promised totally different.

As others have said, I feel certain that this detail can be worked out with the Maitre'd once on board.

It might be easier to let everyone do their own thing the first night and try to work it out for subsequent days. The MDRs tend to be a little hectic the first night.
