  1. We've always enjoyed late dining in the MDR, but with all the dining options available on Allure, I'm thinking that My Time might be a good choice for my husband and I.

Is the service as good? We enjoy having the same waiter throughout, so we might miss that. (Although, on our last cruise, the MDR service was so poor, we would have loved to have a table change...and we did ask!)

This may be the time we give My Time a try.

We have done MTD for our last 2 or 3 cruises. The service was every bit as good as the traditional dining service. Also, you can request the same waitstaff and even the same table every night especially if you come at the same time each night. That you will get get it not absolutely guaranteed, but we have had all of our requests met with no problems. Try it...I think you will likr MTD!:)

  2. I have seen (rarely) some rectangular tables pushed together to make a very long table that would seat 15, but I agree with Clarea that maybe 2 8-tops in close proximity would make conversation with all in your party much easier and more pleasant. Ask about a table for 15 and see what they say. Have a great cruise!:)

  3. I think this happens more than we know!

It happened to us at least twice in the last 15 years or so. C&A straightened it out more or less, but on one occasion we lost C&A points that were never replaced. I argued until I was blue in the face to no avail, and finally just gave up. Like the unpredictable website, RCI's C&A IT system is definitely flawed in many instances.:(

  4. Don't know how your mom likes her poached eggs, but they usually come "well-done", in other words on their way to being hard-boiled. I order them in the MDR and I ask for them VERY, VERY SOFT/ Runny liquid-y yolks, and then they usually come like an average poached egg that you would cook at home. Ordering them from room service might be iffy for this reason (if you can even get them from room service). Just FYI...as you can tell I am a little picky about my poached eggs, but they are my favorite style of eggs and I like them the way way I like them!!!:D Good Luck!:)

  5. It's most like dining in a restaurant, where you show up and are seated with your own party. With traditional seating, you have an assigned time to come to the dining room. What I enjoy about traditional is having tablemates...I enjoy eating with others....makes dinner more social...not just about the food!

... you can sit with others at MTD if you wish to...you don't HAVE to sit with just your party.

Since many of us are well aware of how much cb at sea LOOOOVES tablemates and large tables, I seriously wonder if she has ever done MTD...from her clueless statements , I doubt it!

  6. All balconies on Freedom class ships other than suites are the same size including those on the hump. It is Radiance class ships where the balconies at the very front and back of the hump are larger. If I am wrong on this, please let me know...it wouldn't be the first time!!!;):)

  7. Grew up with beef on 'weck sandwiches in Buffalo so I find it fascinating how people rave over them. They are tasty but it does really depend on how the beef is cooked. I'm interested to try them on Grandeur this April

You hit the nail on the head... the quality and temp.(rare, Med. rare, etc.) of the beef is key to these sandwiches being really good or just OK. This is subjective depending on how you like your beef cooked. To me well-done beef is just horrid, but I know there are those who love it that way. The sandwiches I have had onboard have been mostly done "medium-ish" and were decent. Was it the best roast beef sandwich I ever had...No, was it tasty....Yes !!!:D

  8. The "humps" are near the elevators and ass stated above, the ship "bulges" out to make more room for the elevators.

Hump balconies are usually bigger and have a better view.

Only the cabins at the very front end and back end of the hump on some ships(Radiance class for sure) are larger....the other balconies on the hump are standard size, but you are right about the view!:)

  10. #9576 and 9076...both with larger than standard balconies which are not deep and narrow, but rather shaped sort of like a very large pie wedge if that makes any sense??!! We like #9576 very much and the location is great and the cabin is quiet.:)

  11. Thanks for answering a question I had. We booked b2b on Indy in April doing 8day first. I was wondering how long we would have to be off ship before reboarding. Didn't know if we would have to find something to do during that time. This is our first b2b.

You're welcome! The transition really was no big deal at all. Everyone met in one of the lounges at 10 am. They took us down as a group and into a waiting area in the terminal. After about 20 mins, they handed out our new sea passes and we got back on the ship. Didn't need to show set sail pass or any of that check-in stuff. I would definitely recommend getting the same cabin for both legs if you can. We had access to our cabin immediately after getting back on the ship. Enjoy your B2B! We sure did!!!:)

  12. I'm with you! I MUCH prefer a larger table....hubby and I eat almost EVERY meal together....it's nice to have others to talk to! You already have cruising in common..and you're sure to find other things! We've been seated with everyone from 20-somethings to folks in their 80's....so far, we've gotten along with them all.

The way I figure it, you have ALL DAY to do "couples" stuff....and I have to say that larger tables are just more fun!

If you've chosen MTD, you will be seated alone...other MTDers don't like company!

If you are doing traditional seating, you won't have to rush to shows...they are scheduled around those 2 seating times!

Re: second paragraph above...what kind of a numbskull comment is that? You most certainly can be seated with others (if you want) if you have MTD. I happen to do MTD on some cruises and have no aversion to having "company". Your blatant, blanket statements are really incredible.

  13. We are just back from a BtoB on Indy. Six nights and 8 nights...one eastern Carib and one Western Carib. We booked the same cabin for both legs...very easy transition between cruises(about 45 mins total off and on ship). Just a suggestion as a way to get a 14 night cruise. :)

  14. If you like to sit by the pool for much of the day and have a few drinks/beers and/ or if you stay up late drinking and partying, then the package would probably be worth it as there are no "free" drinks available to you (after 8:30pm) because you are diamond. If you just like to have a couple of drinks before dinner, then the package is probably not worth it. As was said above, "only you can know what is best for you." :)

  15. As long as you pay for it the first night , you can eat any night. This has never been denied to us.:)

You can also bring 2 friends to share your second BOGO coupon. We sail with friends who are only diamond, and they have enjoyed our second coupon several times. We explain this arrangement when we make the ressie and the restaurant has no problem with it. Just in case the "dishonesty" beasty was going to raise its ugly head!!!:D
