       Two words

    Entitlement attitudes.

Things happen. It is a vacation, go with the flow.

I hope some of these passengers never face a terminal illness, loss of job, house fire etc, etc, etc.

Probably add two more words.  Based on timing.

Hurricane Dorian.   The weather affecting the European coast is timed right to be the leftovers of Hurricane Dorian.   No wonder the cruise was rough.   NCL should have rerouted before the cruise and let people cancel with no penalty.  Of course, they probably had many Thomas Cook Passengers on board, so cancellation would not really have been an option.

  2. We will have to try the lemonade next time! We just used milk (vanilla or chocolate) from the Lido buffet at breakfast. Try adding some flavored vodka or rum, yum!

My suggestion as well. You can also use the Strawberry soft serve for the strawberry shakes. Although they won't be as pretty as the formal milkshakes they do taste good.

  3. And Carnival pays a dividend on the stocks on about a quarterly cycle. Also, for Texas Wyldcat, the reason the stockholder page on line says it is good until 7-31-18 is that Carnival determines dividends in June and it will be published shortly. Been renewed every year since the early 2000s.

  4. Been a couple of years since we were on MSC. But I remember the Risottos were spectacular. Particularly the Mushroom one. (different one each day). Also the Mushroom Soup is the absolute best I have ever had. Was disappointed in the lobster.

  5. Saw a news blurb that CCL lowered its profit forecast due to higher fuel costs. Sure hope they don't try to bring back the dreaded "fuel supplement" charge.

Our Tickets in March still had the dreaded clause, "Carnival reserves the right to impose a fuel surcharge if the spot price of oil goes over $110 per barrel"

  6. Having sailed on the Opera, the Lyrica, and the Poesia way before the Bella/Fantastica/Aurea levels, MSC has always closed part of the Buffet and made it into a second Dining Room in the evenings. Usually it is part of the Buffet that is decorated in Darker Woods with better tables and Chairs. On Opera and Lyrica this Dining Room sort of took the place of a Specialty Dining Room.

And most importantly, the Buffet in that part of the Dining Room is closed and shut off from the Diners. You are not being forced to eat a Buffet Dinner, You probably will not even notice that the Table and Chairs are the same as are used during the day. The Buffet Dining Room for the Evening Meal was quiet and professional with appropriate lighting, Service, and Food.

  7. Carnival came up on My Vegas about two weeks ago and all sold out in two hours. Was hoping for OBC to show up. (when Carnival first became a partner about a year and a half ago, they did have OBC) but nada. I would even like to see Casino Credit available on Carnival through MyVegas.

  8. On the Valor, like the Triumph and Glory, most of the OceanView cabins are on decks 1 and 2. Very few on the upper decks. Insides are on all passenger cabin decks. But OV are limited. The upper decks are the Balconies which sell better and at a higher cost. If you are looking for OV you are probably limited to deck 1 or 2.

  9. I am wondering. I am sailing solo but of course I am in a double occupancy room (that I had to pay the full single supplement for) I am wondering will they allow me to bring on two bottles of wine for my stateroom? I am guessing the answer is no but I guess the real question is how strictly is this going to be enforced (I am leaving out of miami).

now before all the holy rollers start foresaking for trying to bend the rules ( I have already purchased a cheers package so that is not the issue). I simply like to have my own wine on my balcony during my quiet moments out to sea. and buying another bottle of wine on board is criminal especially given the overhead that is charged.

Find someone on the Roll Call that can bring a second bottle for you.

  10. I'll bite.

Most of the Hot sauces are similar to the wing sauce on "medium" Hot Wings. Carnival would not put out any "nuclear" level hot sauce because of liability.

To test the spice. put a single drop on the plate (or paper) of several sauces. Taste each and pick the one that you like.

  11. You should be able to recalibrate once you are in port. GPS can be flaky depending on the type, age, and maps of the unit. Early units required recalibration whenever you went more than 600 miles from a starting point. Early units also selected the nearest satellites to get the information, whereas, more recent have gone to selecting the best connection. (Sort of like looking for a WiFi with a phone. there may be a nearby WiFi but the signal is weak, while one a little further away will have a stronger signal.) And the satellites are turned off at random intervals for software updates and so on. Most of the Satellites are actually about 25 years old and they do need updates every so often.

So. when you reach the next port (or you can try to do it at sea) turn off the unit. And recalibrate. You might even see if a navigation officer might want to help. (That way you can actually meet the Navigator or Staff Captain.)

  12. Step back and look at Carnival's Point of View.

    1. Port Everglades was closed and the Captain was not sure if they would be able to dock there or have to go to Miami. This also would require notifying Harbor Pilots, and PAYING for the dock Fees. They did not know until 10:30 at night that Port Everglades would be open. And they did not know if Customs would be available.

    2. They had minimal information on flights. Flights were being resumed at 5:00AM so if a passenger had a flight booked that day they would have no problem, they were booked on a flight. Since there are a number of Airlines flying into and out of FLL, then Airlines would know if the Flights were on and they would also know if the Airlines cancelled flights on their own. But when IRROPS (Irregular Operations) occur, and your flight is cancelled, the airline puts you on the next available flight. They do not bump people from flights that they are already booked on. So Carnival did not have any information on Flights from FLL until 5:00AM when the Captain was steaming into the port. At that point, the Captain and all of the crew is very busy and announcements could be made by the Cruise Director or Hotel Master IF, and that is a big IF, there is time. And it is 5:30AM and many people are still asleep. Would you really want to be woken an hour or so early to be told that if you had a flight booked that day, you should be OK unless the Airline cancels your Flight?

It comes down to What Carnival Knew and more importantly When they Knew it. And could anything be relayed to the Passengers that was not just rumors?

  13. We've gotten it back washed and folded. Not sure how much you can put in each bag since they tear very easily. On our Xmas cruise it came back looking good but when we got back my wife says a bra is not hers. It didn't fit her so somehow in this bag her bra got replaced with another.

Did you play Prince Charming and go looking for Cinderella who would fit the bra?

  14. Ice Cream is always available at at least one of the machines. Usually one in the back part of the lido. There is also the location of the 24 hour coffee, cocoa, and lemonade. Again ONE location out of the four and usually Aft Port Side.

Few years ago, we were on a ship where the dancers in the late show would sometimes be topless. Anyway kids would see bare butts and giggle that the girls' had bare butts. That is all that happens to kids.

Since someone told you that Carnival would not be your kind of cruise, I feel that you went on the Cruise looking for things to complain about.
