  1. I think I’ve made my decision. The cost involved was never my consideration. It seems anyway, there is no price advantage in paying for a train ticket in advance. I will attempt to get to the airport before 8am. If I don’t make it on time, I will go to train station at airport and buy 2 tickets to Edinburgh. Worst scenario, I’m am out of pocket for £160-200 but will get home same day. Thanks for all your input.
  2. The 4pm flight IS sold out. It’s take a chance on 8.45 or take the train. ( we have 2 together rail cards )
  3. As OP can I bring subject back to dilemma. There is no other flight available from Sou to Scotland on Sunday 26. There is no easy train alternative ( def don’t want to change in London). If we do change at Birmingham, there is only 12 mins between connections. That seems tight. The other point is my car would be at Edinburgh Airport. We would then have to travel from city centre to airport to collect. Loganair are being totally unhelpful. This comes back to my question, can we get off Anthem in time to be at Sou airport for 8am. The way things are working out, I feel we may have to chance it. Will there be plenty of taxis at 7 ish?
  4. I’ve looked at the train options but they don’t seem to work well on Sunday 26th We are seniors and don’t want to consider the London transfer options with 2 suitcases.
  5. Thanks for taking time to reply I am aware EasyJet now do the route but their flight on a Sunday is also 4pm The lunch idea is good but I’m not aware of anywhere to store 2 suitcases. Is there such a place?
  6. We come off Anthem of the Seas on 26 May Loganair have changed our Edinburgh flight to 8.45 am. Check in closes at 8.05. If we are amongst first off and taxis available, we could make it. The alternative flight offered means hanging about until 4pm which we don’t fancy. is it worth the stress to make early flight? What would you do?

  8. Yes, booked in Scotland (!)😀 It seems a pretty reasonable allocation.
  9. We booked a guarantee balcony on Anthem 19 May. We have beeb allocated 6674. We are fairly happy with this as it has cabins above and, I think shops below. Therefore it shouldn’t be noisy. I have read contradictory articles whether it’s a restricted view and also , if it’s directly above the smoking area. Anyone have experience of this cabin and is so, what is your opinion?
  10. Sailed many times from Southampton but always travelled down from Glasgow the night before. On our 19 May Anthem departure, we have to fly down on the day from Edinburgh. We arrive 9.30 but RCCL hav given us 1-1.30pm check in. Any point trying to check in straight from the airport. Or, can we put our luggage in straight away, then get taxi back to town centre? Or is it easier just waiting?
  11. Can someone please explain the scanner trick. What’s a upc scanner?
  12. As OP, thanks for your helpful replies. What I didn’t point out that my wife doesn’t drink any alcohol. That means I have 10 D+ drinks. She may have a coffee or a soda, but as a moderate drinker, I can probably go for a couple of beers to augment my wine at dinner and lunch, along with a few Scotches!
  13. We are on Anthem out of Southampton on 19 May. We are D+ but haven’t cruised RCCL for a long time. To use our daily 5 drink vouchers, do you have to tell the bartender/waiter that we wish to use a voucher or will it happen automatically? I believe we can get a buy one, get one free on specialty restaurants on first 2 nights. How do we activate this? Should I just book for the 2 of us in advance and ask for D+ discount when signing on board or is there an other method of getting the discount?
  14. We were invited to bid on our Azura cruise this Friday. ( booked through TA) My bid of £205 for a family suite from superior balcony was accepted. It seems reasonable value to me.
  15. We were offered a specific suite, D105. The email said we had to pay for it within 48 hours. Also said ,if we didn’t pay on time, we would revert to original booking level ( but no guarantee, same cabin). That meant it could have been a superior balcony, E deck, directly above music lounge
  16. Now that tips are included on P&O, do you still leave tips? I am thinking the cabin steward or if in a suite, your butler
  17. Thanks for your reply. We have done many suites in various cruise lines over the years. I guess the reason for my question was because of the unusual lay out of family suites and also their position. Anyway, I have now accepted their offer and booked it Thanks
  18. I bid on several suites but have been informed by P&O that I have been successful with a bid of £205pp for a family suite. I have 72 ro accept and pay. We are currently in a Superior Balcony, Canaries, 26 January i not the “ suite” is an unusual lay out. Any experience of the family suite and is it worth £410? thanks
  19. My pet hate is I’ve always pre paid tips, but that doesn’t stop the cabin steward leaving envelopes for “extra “ tips
  20. We are Diamond +. Our last RCL was Jewel out of Dubai . Since then after lockdown we have cruised Azamara, P &O and Virgin and are sailing on Anthem out of UK next May. Things seem to have changed with RCL in these 4 years. May I ask some questions? It seems we get get 5 D plus drinks each day. Do you have to say to the bar tender that you would like a voucher drink or is it automatically on your card? The BOGO specialty restaurant discount seems confusing. Can we go to a restaurant first night and request this and then go on second night to another speciality and my wife would use her BOGO. Would this let us eat in specialty restaurants on 2 nights of our choice later in the cruise as “free” nights? Lastly ( for now! , I’m sure there will be more questions!}, I know that RCL, in line with other lines, now do only service the room once per day, did I see somewhere that you can choose whether this is morning or evening? Thanks
  21. Interesting, we bid considerably more than the minimum for several suites but we’re unsuccessful. We also got reciprocal benefits by being RCCL Diamond Plus, but paid in full via TA. As it turned out, we were more than happy with our XL Asda Terrace, 14326A, very quiet and a super attendant
