  1. On Anthem on Sunday.

I realise I’m asking some basic questions for a D+ but it’s been a while since our last cruise pre covid and so much seems to have changed.

We are MTD and when I finally realised we should book times ( def a contradiction in my view!), we could only get 19.45 . Now the planner has been published, this clashes with entertainment we would like to attend on a couple of occasions.

Can we just turn up early (or later)  and hopefully get a table, or, should we try and change prior to any clash.

Or, is there a walk up line for MTDers

    Thanks

  2. I received a Facebook reply from Sou airport saying we can leave bags in left luggage at the airport for £10 per bag.

If Loganair won’t take our bags at 10.00 am, that’s what we will do, then walk across to the train station and go to Winchester for a few hours.

    Thanks for everyone’s help.

  3. As per my previous post, we are off Anthem on 26 May and our flight to Edinburgh has been changed to 16.00.

We have flown back from Sou many times but never had such a long wait.

I have looked at various options to store our luggage for about 4 hours.

John Bull on this forum has been incredibly helpful ( thanks John) , however I’ve tried phoning the Manyards store you referred to countless times to arrange luggage storage but the phone is never answered.

It then occurred to me that if I can check bags in early I can follow his suggestion for a train to Winchester to pass the time. You would think it would be easy to get an answer if an early bag check in is possible, however think again!   Loganair can’t tell me one way or another and sent me the general airport number.   Next problem, when you call that you CANNOT get thru to a human.  The line just goes dead.

I read on their website, (on the basis’ Loganair won’t accept the bags early), the airport has a left baggage facility at £10 per bag.

I have been trying to call to get this verified, but as I say, no one will speak to me. Has anyone used this facility, did u pre book it?  Is it in fact still available? I don’t want to ignore possible storage in town, only to get to the airport with no options and have to sit over 6 hours.

Hopefully all above makes sense and thanks in advance

  4. As OP, I’m back!

Out of the blue, we received an email from Loganair saying they now have seats available on the 16.00 flight which I have accepted.

I’m now looking for somewhere to leave my luggage from about 9 am to about 2.30.  I’ve found a site called “Stasher” who say they can book my bags in to the Premier Inn St Mary’s.

Has anyone used their services or can anyone suggest a reliable alternative?

    Thanks

  5. We are on Anthem out of Southampton Sunday week, the 19th.

We are D+ but returning for first time after covid, so not up to date with new situations. We were invited to bid for upgrades a few months ago from our balcony cabin, so I have put in low bids for large balcony, junior suite and sky suite.

I keep checking our bid’s status which keep showing “submitted “.   My question, what happens next and when?  Will we get a yes/ no at some point (if so when?) or will bid just disappear?

  6. I think I’ve made my decision.

The cost involved was never my consideration.  It seems anyway, there is no price advantage in paying for a train ticket in advance.

I will attempt to get to the airport before 8am.   If I don’t make it on time, I will go to train station at airport and buy 2 tickets to Edinburgh.  Worst scenario, I’m am out of pocket for £160-200 but will get home same day.

     Thanks for all your input.

  7. As OP can I bring subject back to dilemma.

There is no other flight available from Sou to Scotland on Sunday 26.

There is no easy train alternative ( def don’t want to change in London).   If we do change at Birmingham, there is only 12 mins between connections.  That seems tight.

The other point is my car would be at Edinburgh Airport.   We would then have to travel from city centre to airport to collect.

Loganair are being totally unhelpful.  This comes back to my question, can we get off Anthem in time to be at Sou airport for 8am.   The way things are working out, I feel we may have to chance it.

Will there be plenty of taxis at 7 ish?

Assuming you live in Scotland and are travelling home, I’m going to suggest an EasyJet to Glasgow. It’s a new route this year. That’s what we’re doing ( although Edinburgh airport is handier for us) and flight time is around 11am, so perfect.  Ryanair also flies from Bournemouth to Edinburgh, not sure of timing. Although  4pm is a bit of a hang about, I’m sure you could fill the day by going for a nice brunch/ lunch/ drink somewhere and reflect on the great time you had on your cruise.

I can see how you might be tempted by the earlier flight. I don’t think Southampton Airport is huge so you probably could make it. Locals with experience could confirm. It wouldn’t be the end of the world if you miss it. There’s plenty other ways to get home.

Thanks for taking time to reply

I am aware EasyJet now do the route but their flight on a Sunday is also 4pm

The lunch idea is good but I’m not aware of anywhere to store 2 suitcases. Is there such a place?

  9. We come off Anthem of the Seas on 26 May

Loganair have changed our Edinburgh flight to 8.45 am. Check in closes at 8.05.

If we are amongst first off and taxis available, we could make it.  The alternative flight offered means hanging about until 4pm which we don’t fancy.

is it worth the stress to make early flight?  What would you do?

  11. We booked a guarantee balcony on Anthem 19 May.  We have beeb allocated 6674.

We are fairly happy with this as it has cabins above and, I think shops below.  Therefore it shouldn’t be noisy.

I have read contradictory articles whether it’s a restricted view and also , if it’s directly above the smoking area.

Anyone have experience of this cabin and is so, what is your opinion?

  12. Sailed many times from Southampton but always travelled down from Glasgow the night before.

On our 19 May Anthem departure, we have to fly down on the day from Edinburgh. We arrive 9.30 but RCCL hav given us 1-1.30pm check in.

Any point trying to check in straight from the airport. Or, can we put our luggage in straight away, then get taxi back to town centre?

Or is it easier just waiting?

  13. As OP, thanks for your helpful replies.

What I didn’t point out that my wife doesn’t drink any alcohol. That means I have 10 D+ drinks.

She may have a coffee or a soda, but as a moderate drinker, I can probably go for a couple of beers to augment my wine at dinner and lunch, along with a few Scotches!

  14. We are on Anthem out of Southampton on 19 May.

We are D+ but haven’t cruised RCCL for a long time.

To use our daily 5 drink vouchers, do you have to tell the bartender/waiter that we wish to use a voucher or will it happen automatically?

I believe we can get a buy one, get one free on specialty restaurants on first 2 nights.  How do we activate this?  Should I just book for the 2 of us in advance and ask for D+ discount when signing on board or is there an other method of getting the discount?

I assume that means that until you have paid, you would not know which actual cabin or suite has been allocated to you - just the grade?  I thought you would have had to give card details when placing a bid, but apparently not.

We were offered a specific suite, D105.

The email said we had to pay for it within 48 hours.  Also said ,if we didn’t pay on time, we would revert to original booking level ( but no guarantee, same cabin).

That meant it could have been a superior balcony, E deck, directly above music lounge
